It's like you wouldn't expect a beautiful person to be the ostracized geek in a movie because according to past experience that isn't totally believable. And also opera is not a very popular type of music now. Certainly not as popular as pop/rock and it certainly doesn't appeal to the great number of young people who are obsesseed with appearances.
