Ever since I first heard of it I've been DYING to hear the real Carnival of Light. Hopefully it will be released one day. The holy grail of Beatles fans.
The Beatles were heavily into backwards tape loops at this time...witness "Rain" from '66 and "Strawberry Fields Forever" from '67. A lot of fake Carnival tapes are out there on Youtube, but real or not this one has to be top contender for the actual loop. I only wish I could hear the part of the song where Paul was supposed to have run around the studio on coke screaming "Barcelona!!!!"
Heres how you know it's the real one. if you see a video titled Carnival Of Light that is 13:48 long, and it has been taken off youtube the next time you check, that was the real version.
Carnival of Light was created for The Million Volt Light and Sound Rave, an event held at the Roundhouse Theatre, London on 28 Jan and 4 Feb 1967. So, it has been heard, but probably no one remembers it, if yer know what I mean!
@HerbBlake a supposedly authentic 13 minute and 48 second version can be found on the 2009 Russian bootleg album Now and Then, issued by Raskol Records
@Illidan1337OG I found it...All the files were .flac and had to be opened with a torrent opener. I got as far as opening them, but I could open the .flac files. Bing it if you wanna try.
@HerbBlake This IS fake. There is NO bootlegs or releases of this song in any form. I forget the name of the group that made this, but it went on P2P as Carnival, but it isn't.
It's kind of annoying and kind of funny that there's this unheard music that people are posting fakes of. It's all a bit like Big Foot or the Loch Ness Monster isn't it?
Carnival of Light has apparently been bootlegged after all. Only a very small number of anonymous people have it and aren't willing to share because of it's mystique and rarity.
At least that's what some of the rumours are saying. I have no reason to disbelieve the people who claim to have heard it as there is known to have been at least two copies of the original master in existence; Paul has one and the second went to the US and I think is now unaccounted for.
During the 1970's there were many Beatles tracks that still were 'mystical'. Many of those have been bootlegged later on so I don't see how Carnival of Light had been preserved so carefully, just as if somebody already knew it would become a rarity. It is useless to fool people telling them that some 'friend's friend in Holland' has heard it. If you had had a copy of "Leave My Kitten Alone" in the seventies you would have treated it just as it was "Carnival of Light".
@UK31337 i could share a large piece of the song with you its private cause of psychedelictripper he threats me and freats me he is verry mean to me but i wil ake the video visable to you and other people who know about this song
@UK31337 I have read and heard that George Harrison's widow has the only copy and that is the master and she swore to George that she would never give in to Paul's wishes and allow it's release. I am pretty sure that If Paul did have a copy it would have been out by now. Maybe the sources are wrong. Who knows apart from herself Paul and Ringo.
In the original (real-not fake) version John Lennon shouts out" Barcelona!" repeatedly. Not here. A poet called Bob Cobbing was at the event and was one of those who heard Carnival Of Light first hand.
No. Very few people have heard the real thing. Only The Beatles, others who helped make the record (such as George Martin), and people who were present at the event it was created for. Not even bootleggers have heard Carnival Of Light.
I read an article awhile back stating that the track had been recovered but studio execs are unsure as to how to market it since it's such a long advent garde song, and don't know if it can be sold as a single track. At least that's what I read.
It is possible that it could be the real deal, at about 2:29 you can hear something that sounds like 'gargling with water' which the track supposedly has. but where's the extra 9'11"?
I wanna hear the real version ={
