BR is great in multiplayer, but in single player it's safer to go with the AR. You rarely ever run out of AR ammo, and even on levels where you start with the BR (only 2 of them) the AR is easy to find, probably because it's the standard issue rifle. Anyway. Nothing worse than only having a BR and running out of ammo after a fight with a pack of brutes.

Good snipers often suck at everything else. I.E myself... Im VERY GOOD with swords and snipers and lasers. But bad with typical weapons (BR's, AR's, the like.) It's very tough to be excellent at everything. So stick to basics.
