you've got it backwards since drifting was first, if at all. i hear similarities, but the loops definitely different . both rather trip-hop but not the same. the scratches sound quite a bit different as well.
i will say that the "voice" at 2min and again at 2:12 of jezebel is the same sample as the one in black box... which is full of sounds found elsewhere on the album.
i totally love the "in your room" percussive bits (and their aftermath) found in Allelujah, pure bliss.
Leave him alone. I was sad when he left, too, but the atmosphere in the band wasn't healthy. He did the right thing by leaving. I probably would have, too.
did someone say he's an ass for leaving or something? that's dumb since he was getting paid a cut of the profit from the tours and now dave martin & fletch are getting his cut. he quit his job because he could afford to be with his family more & because all his ideas kept getting vetoed for commercial pop remix versions of songs he worked his ass off on (in your room album version was superior than zephyr mix)
The person I was replying to expressed hopes that Alan would return to Depeche Mode. Alan never seems to hear the end of that. A biorgraphy of Depeche Mode was released a few years ago. In it, Alan stated bluntly that he never fit in and that his work was never given a lot of appreciation. He reached the breaking point after the Devotional tour.
Could anyone give me some info on this track "Velocity", cos i saw it a couple of times and it`s supposed to be a Recoil release but i don`t know of a such?
You know what? I can't...agree more with you! Alan left, some people regret that, some doesn't(like Alan). But it's done, and it's past now. They need to get over it.Let's bury the hatchet together pal!
He barely wrote songs when he was in DM. That was mostly done by Martin. But Alan def did a good share of experimenting with sound which made DM original. However, it's understandable, he wanted to try something new and went solo.
I understand they have all gone off and done their individual thing, and the last couple DM albums have been great. However I would love to see what would happen with Alan back in the group!!Don't remember details of why he left, but he helped buid the group, and every time I see a pic of just the three, even after all these years, it still feels like something is missing.
i totaly agree, something feels like is missing, like DM still sounds realy good but some of the dark electronica influences from alan are gone, ithe shoul re unite and make their bigest album ever.
Alan has worked on and provided feedback for the recent re mastering of old DM material. Having travelled a "rocky" road all credit to him. A great an innovating inspiration to many.
exactlly especialy on PTA u could sense that alan was not there to do his thing i propose a global petition or a UN resolution to determin mister Wilder to return at least as a producer
Hearing his solomusic for the first time, but being DM fan in donkey years - this is very different from DM today. It would clearly be a different Depeche sound if he came back..and he is happy doing his ovn music, so maybe the best is what they are today. But still...It still would be an advantage if he came back, and what depth he could give the DM music. Maybe its time for him to return to the band and be united..YEEEAH
pretty cool.
sounds like alan's experimenting with Trip Hop sound.
He should collaborate with Martina from Tricky.
