Minimum weight for a cop is around 120 pounds, my Glock weighs about 3 pounds loaded.
Response time for a cop to arrive is about 2.3 minutes, my gun responds in about a BANG!
The law says I can no longer carry my gun when I go out to run errands, spend money in local businesses, and contribute to the local economy. The law says I can carry my gun, if I have grave fear of danger, or to assist a cop in making an arrest, but these are the reasons I want to carry my gun, while out of the house.
I open carry for two reasons: It's hard to conceal in Alabama in the summer and I'm an older person who is not able to run or get into a fist fight. Open carry, as defined by the Alabama Supreme Court, Reid vs. State, 1840, is defensive carry. The court also said that open carry is the only practical carry for defense of self and state. Definitely has a deterrent effect on the gangbanger wannabe types.
@petertrast As of that point in my life it was the first time i saw open carry. I thought it was some what comical. I just think its a little odd that nine guys go to the mall open carry and one guy comes out with an actual bought product...seems like its for show..but nontheless me personaly i would have it concealed..
Can't legally carry concealed without a permit in many states, and getting a concealed carry permit is nigh impossible, unless you're well connected, wealthy, a celebrity, or what not.
Thus law abiding citizens resort to the only method of carrying that is available to them.
Laws regarding this kind of thing are rather silly. As a matter of fact in California, if I have a fixed blade knife of *any* length (even if it's only 2 inches), I must carry it openly on a sheath at my waist.
Sorry, but i gotta say it... you guys werent OC'ing handguns.... they're called "bricks" in Komiefornia... lol, i had to. I live in Phoenix (YAY!) Hopefully you guys get some rights over there. Good luck and keep informing the public!
@MrTycap Yeah, sucks you wasted all that time pumping iron, huh? ;) Just kidding. Many cops and soldiers are in excellent shape but they carry. Wonder why? Oh yeah, muscles are USELESS against firearms. Go ahead and bring your biceps to a gunfight. It's a free country. You make an interesting point though. Brainless muscleheads probably won't be dishing out swirlies to these guys... lol
Hey look @pullnshoot25 has his thumb stuck in his butt. First thing you do is take affense and name call. All i said is i have a gun, over here look at me I have a gun on my waist. And you get all sad and hurt and go for name calling. So what one are you in the video? the one with a little dick? baby dick or no dick?

I'm all for ''loaded'' open carry ! I agree that to carry a rifle or shotgun is way to much though . A pistol isenough to frighten off most bedguy's . Think about it ok . Chances are you will never need to use it . But if by chance the day's comes when you need it , you'll have it to use ! Better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it !
Open Carry in mall? Cool. Wearing Army Long-sleeved PT shirt in Mall? Not cool. Seriously dude? You couldn't at least buy a cool shirt? I have never worn a PT shirt anywhere except the gym in over 8 years. Not to mention the LS shirt is totally gay. It just says "New Private". So while you're at Nordstrom's... get a new shirt.
@thehotshirtguy2008 someone should tell them to not look so damn nervous too. in an upscale part of town taking baby steps in a tight little group. almost a little embarrasing. shit, i would hate to see something go down because by their body language, they would piss themselves and probably shoot the wrong person.
Looks like a mostly white mall. would not open carry in a mostly black area. You would get dared to use your gun. Or gang jumed by a bunch of 15year old children. In California children are shooting the Ice Cream truck driver and gang jumped a city worker on a tractor.
I doubt the Ice Cream truck driver and the city worker were armed... You can be a "Hard Target" or a "Soft Target". Which do you think will be victimized sooner?
haha they look like they were making themselves uncomfortable. im all for open carry but relax, that tense look on your faces makes you look guilty as sin. you would have mad em nervous and i think everyone should carry a gun
where is this? id like to know where that mall is also it looks deserted i saw two kids playing with toy guns they bought at the 99 cent store near the store get thrown face down to the ground by about 12 cops and these were toy guns and the kids were 8th graders open carry doesnt fly anywhere in the cites so i would like to know where the hell this mall is??
right, if a lot of people carried, shootings would go down and if they did, wouldnt last long. but if you open carry, you are a target for the people who will start shooting first. you might look cool for a while but the second the bank robber sees you, your fuckin done. you will be the first to get shoot because the "bad guy" wants to eliminate any threat to him.
what bank robber? you sucker, if everyone packed there would be no robber to begin with, and im not here to hate a cimrcumstantial debate, shut up... if you were a robber, i would drop you in a blink of an eye.. Buuuuuuddy!
dummy. most everyone does "pack" in small town texas. but they still have robberies. and no, your missing the point i was making. if you had an OPEN CARRY piece on you, the robber would see it and kill your ass first. if you cant follow what im saying, you shouldnt have agun.
hey dummy, how about if, superman was fighting an armed robber, and i'm walking outside open carrying, and i kill the guy, scenarios, scenarios go to law school an argue to someone who wants to hear you retarded "points". YOU probably would get shot to death by an armed robber just standing there like a eeetard. when you see armored truck security handling money, do they stand there like idiots? So shut up with your crackhead insinuations and your ability to predict future shootouts, go blog it!
goes to show only idiots like you back this "open carry" thing. i tell you some real life shit, and you go about talking about superman. ill say it one more time, if you carry in the open, you are a target. if you hide it, you are not a target. think about it before you type another stupid comment
awsome, wish we could do that were I live, there sure would be alot less violence, I mean what kinda criminal wants to really attack a guy or gal with a firearm on there side in plain view, hmmmm,
OK WHOA, I TOTALLY read that wrong! I am so sorry! I was reading some Brady propaganda just before reading your comment as well. Please accept my apologies!
hey,ok, no problem, thats probably the reason I didn't get it, cause it wasn't directed towards my comment. Its all good, no big deal, BTW I love that video on here.
@drizown another good one is the "spare tire" speach... EVERYONE has a spare tire, ask them why and they say "just in case" same with a fire extinguisher... they are both tools, i dont see why a gun is any different, i carry "just in case"
the type of criminal who will attack you will see your gun on your hip and take you done from behind. you will get a bullet in the back of your head faster thean anything if you display your gun everywhere you walk. but if you hide it, you will have the advantage.
I would love to carry a hiden gun, but its nearly imposible to get a CCW. For most of us, the only legal option we have is to open carry. We can carry a hiden gun illigaly, but are opening up ourselfs to legal trouble.
im not a criminal. i just know what kind of attention a show of force brings. but lets just say i am a criminal, lets say im willing to kill you for 5 bucks. now that you know how i think, you still think its safer to open carry? criminals dont care that you flaunt a gun, all they know is that you have it and its easier to pick target because they know the threat is there.
Actually, people tend to do things based on their own safety.
If you open carry, most violent criminals will target someone else because they know from the start that there is a much higher chance of them not surviving the encounter.
It would be better for them to victimize someone who would be defenseless. Most wouldn't risk their lives - it's just a survival instinct.
yeah but contrary to popular belief, criminals are street smart. they know you dont have a loaded gun. shit, anyone can see there is no mag in it. so an ambush means you lose your gun and someone else down the street will be killed by your gun. most criminals dont screw with average joe because they are cowards but there is a ton out there who want a free gun and are willing to mess you up for it.
i agree raven. where ever you live, youre used to a certain way. i used to live in texas where loads of people open carry in most of the small towns. ive never had a problem with someone with a weapon. my problem is all these young idiots thinking that just showing a gun deters crime. like you said, "very few stupid criminals", you are educated enough to know there is always 1 out there willing to do something stupid. these open carry guys out here in so cal dont understand that
I find it ridiculous to claim guns do not deter crime. Firstly, when armed with a gun you represent a much more serious threat and are that much more capable of fighting back an attack. Secondly, a gun is a power equalizer. No matter how you put it, you are a much more difficult and dangerous target when armed with a pistol. And this will of course deter most bad guys as they generally are intelligent enough to make a basic risk assessment.
@Dovenpeis i agree. i am scary pro gun. guns would and do deter a lot of crime but not all of it. those select few assholes willing to go that extra yard, will simply kill the person with the gun as in some bank robberies. they walk in and eleminate their threat then demand money. my problem, like ive said before, is flaunting your gun like its a cool thing to do, like the kids in the video. element of surprise is everything and if the bad guy knows you got a gun, you might not see it coming
My point is that open carry in itself will actually deter the majority of crime situations. Most bad guys will simply steer clear of potential victims they know is armed and dangerous. They are looking for easy targets and will generally not take any unnecessary risks.
@Dovenpeis thats true. but the very few times that it will not deter the criminal, the open carry guy is the first target. so, id rather be concealed and catch the guy off guard than to scare him into not attacking and finding the next easy target. you see, criminals are idiots and will take unnecessary risks. its just better to catch them by surprise than to scare them into knocking off some guy down the street without a gun.
@matchesison So the next guy down the street can worry about his own protection. If he is afraid to carry, too bad for him. Maybe I would help him if I had the chance but criminals are opportunists and try to choose people who are alone. That is why you must carry and protect yourself. It is highly unlikely anyone else will even know you are in trouble or will do anything to help you even if they do.
@matchesison OK, when has an open carry person ever been shot. Just cite one instance please. i can cite THOUSANDS of times when concealed carriers were victimized because the criminal did not KNOW they were carrying. If anyone can link to an instance in this century where a regular citizen, not a cop, was shot because they were open carrying, I will reconsider hiding my weapon.
@petertrast im not going to go waste my time looking for newspaper articles when what im saying is common sense. and of course no one is going to give you shit when youre in fuckin la jolla or whatever other upscale mall you in. head on down to chula vista and see what happens to you and your open carry gun.
@matchesison Because you CANNOT find one instance of it ever happening so there is no point n looking. I live in Kansas City, Missouri, in one of the highest crime areas in the nation. I carry open everywhere I go. I don't live in some commy infested craphole like almost any city the people's republic of California, and chula vista certainly would not scare me. I walk in the "Paseo" at night, with one of the highest murder rates in the country. So nice try. I am an army vet, too, and not a sheep
@matchesison Not a good point. If a criminal would be smart enough to know that the gun wasn't loaded, that same criminal probably knows that in the state of CA its automatic Grand Theft Firearm, regardless of how much the gun costs.
@drizown do think a criminal cares about the charges? haha, no. criminals are very smart when it comes to crime. go to a jail for a few days and ask them some questions, youll see. bottom line is that its a dumb idea to display a gun. no where in the history of the world has that ever stopped all crime. it might stop some small time crime but not the serious ones.
my point is that if you open carry, you are making yourself a target. if a criminal sees your gun, he might think twice. but some criminals will see it as an opportunity. keep in mind, of the thousands of people who see you day to day, you cant tell by looks who is an asshole.
good comment lol asshole's are easy to see look at all them who try to keep us from our rights to keep and BEAR arms. to every one who support open carry GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY. to those who dont dont ask us for help when you need us
Also there are to many steps you have to take to fire the gun on short notice. It needs to be ready to fire as soon as you grab it. I feel much more safe carrying concealed, plus it gives you the element of surprise
@freedomfromevil Yeah Awsome! WHY?! In my Country, (wich isnt a English talking one, so...sorry for my bad english...) there is real hard to get a gun legal, and there is maybe 10 murders a year with a gun! If you want a gun, you have to be a member of a club, active for 12 mounths, then go to the Police and write a Application. If a criminal wants to take you, he take you, if you have a gun or not, but if you have one on you, open, its a bigger chance to get killed!
I am a STRONG proponent of OC...I hope to see more of it as time goes by.
If we OC more the Soccer Moms who are getting their panties in a knot about it will get used to the idea that our Rights are our Rights.
And, for the record, use ALL of your Rights...the one to Vote too.
Remember ~ The Bill of Rights does NOT give us any Rights...it only declares that we have had those Rights since birth.
OC is the Law...use it respectfully.
Or give up all of your rights and STFU.

@freedomfromevil
You CAN do it where you live if you live in the U.S.
OC is legal in all 50 States.
Unloaded OC is even legal in California.
Constitutionally protected and recently upheld by the Supreme Court 5/4.
OC is the Law.
Put the Criminals on notice...let them know that we refuse to be sheep.
Get a quality handgun and learn to use it well and safely.
What's more important....the safety of You & Your Family or what people think of you?
