You are right Lisa, it is more important to have a real purpose and love for what you do versus just wanting to get rich or make lots of money. Many people that have that goal in mind in the beginning typically quit early when they don't reach their goals. It's all about learning at first. The money will follow. Keep up the good work Lisa!!

Honestly, I would have been more interested in it, if I had found it, rather than it coming out and finding me through unsolicited messages on my you tube account. My attorney says people accepting, and establishing business with those that utilize spam, could be subject to being ripped off, and possibly be victim of identity theft.

Hi every word you said was so true. As a teacher myself it takes time to learn new skills. Incidently it takes older adults alot longer to learn new skills than kids in their teens. I've just started on a course and I predict it will take about 3 months to complete then start applying. I am a newbie but I would rather start from the bottom.

I WOULD like to make money, but its not essential. Really, sense I was like 3 I have really wanted to be online, and I enjoy web design, promoting, and that whole clump. very truthful video's! I takes time to make money, and good common sense. I have been working at home since 2001, and just now getting good at it. People need more patience, and realistic goals. I do affilaite and hard product, I make 20% to 50% average profit, and my key is sticking to my interest. I do very well with Amazon and Nextday, as well as clickbank! PPL check your email, do follow ups, be responsive, and respectful to your customers, they are your income. Word of mouth is always best.

Hi Lisa, I came across this video and happened to be working on just the thing you're talking about. I'm a college student with a website idea that I am hoping to eventually make a reality. Watching this made me realize that it will take time and plenty of effort to create it, but that because I am PASSIONATE about my idea, I can succeed. Thanks for making me realize (again) that money shouldn't be my only drive to true success. I'll let you know if my idea gets big out there :)
The only way to make money from a website is to create something truly original. Its a false economy and a complete waste of time creating a website just to manipulate visitors to click on adverts - you're just setting yourself up for disappointment. My advice would be to get an education and enjoy life.
Please don't do that unless you're interested in the ad. It costs advertisers money. I know you were only doing it out of support but people are paying for those ads every time you click them. I prefer to earn my money honestly. But I know you had good intentions. :)

Someone could but it's technically stealing because someone is paying to host that ad on your site/Google's network. It's not right and if google happened to notice clicks from the same IP addresses you could get banned. It's not worth it. Dishonesty always comes back to bite you in the end. Remember, someone is paying for the ads that show up on your pages. Every click costs them money. What if someone did that to ads you were paying for?
Lisa you are wonderful in the sense you are down to earth and you can't hit the nail any harder than this. Cos, there is a crowd waiting out there simply with nothing but the hearful of expectations of making quick money online. Internet business or online business is one of the toughest and time consuming proposition but will definitely yield positive results if one is patient enough , learn the basics, have a blueprint and nurture your business like your traditional business.
Great vid and makes a lot of sense, I am very very to all this and due to having soooo much time on my hands plus I have a passion for writing, the internet and love interacting with other people I am looking to go down this road while actively seeking work. I am concerned about the quality and appearance of the sites built by Site Build It. Now I know you can hire your own web designer, or do it yourself if you know how. I don't know how. I wanted to know if Site Builder provides nicer layouts than the ones you use or that the official site uses? Say for instance, can you choose themed layouts, according to your business? Example, say I was a florist, will Site Build it have a layout of flowers for me?
Good question. There are some more up-to-date templates but they require a little more programming/learning on your part. Funny that you mention that though because in a recent newsletter Ken Evoy stated that more, updated templates are on the way. But don't forget you don't have to use their templates you can design your own from scratch with a software program like I did on Flat Stomach Exercises (dot) com

thanks lisa, good advice..out of all the sites i went to for learning how to create an income-generating website, yours seems the most real..most of the other places to get information have hidden agendas that become obvious quickly when they try to hawk something to you. I don't mind paying for information, but there has to be a value there first, something concrete that is laid out in a very applicable way. A person like me is looking for information, and I like your approach of communication.

Thank you! Yes, buy a domain and sign up with a hosting plan. Decide how you are going to build your site. Software? (Dreamweaver, CoffeeCup, etc.) or coding buy hand. I use Dreamweaver.
Lisa, You make it sound easy for somebody to build a website by coding by hand. For somebody to create a website that people will visit, they'll need months and years of experience of Graphic design, Html, Xhtml, Css, etc etc. Else their site will look very very bad.
I disagree DJAc1d - There are those who say they cannot draw, but I've taught them basics in 5 minutes. Graphic design is about reusing already designed concepts . . . I think you can do that pretty well, just don't copy someone Else's design entirely (plagiarize). Best thing, IMO, is to use a template, then experiment making changes using your own creative powers. If you need help, ask Lisa, join a forum, or date a website guru :-)

Well for somebody to Graps the know-how to create a decent looking site, it'd take them AT LEAST a year, think about it lisa.
You've got HTML, then CSS, then they have to learn how to intergrate that into DIV's and such.
Then they have to learn how to make everything w3c compliant via XHTML. And at the same time, learn how things work in terms, if they want something "here", how to get it there. Etc..
Sort of. But maybe we have definitions of a decent-looking site. Not everyone wants javascript and you certainly don't have to learn it to build a "decent looking" site. And if you use an editor you can do it much faster. Not everyone writes their code from scratch and I know some people who have very nice looking sites done with Dreamweaver. But if you're talking about hand-coding from scratch then yes that will take a lot longer.
True, but I must say, I use Dreamweaver but still know a great deal about CSS and HTML. I actually learned the basics of HTML first but there are some organizational features I like about DW. Even if you do decide to use software, I think everyone should learn the basics because it helps you troubleshoot. Great talking to you too. A very productive discussion. :)
No offense DJAc1d but I get tired of people discounting Dreamweaver (and it's usually programmers who do so). Just because people use it doesn't mean they don't know how to code. Like Lisa, I learned HTML and CSS first but I use DW because of the many features that allow me to organize my files and the shortcuts that make common updates a breeze. Especially when you have a large site to manage. Not everyone uses DW because they can't code.

I made money within a week, but I had computer and web skills, so that helped! I think it really depends on how much u want it , and if you are passionate about it. I've had friends go into simply to make momney but pull out when it turns to custard.

Yes, I'm an affiliate marketer. Go to my site 2 Create a Website and there's a link on the homepage that says "Read about affiliate marketing here" That explains how I make money.
You need to combine that motivation with hard work, dedication and creativity. If motivation to get rich was all you'd need, everyone you know would be rich online. Just my opinion from experience with others I've coached.

Hi every word you said was so true. As a teacher myself it takes time to learn new skills. Incidently it takes older adults alot longer to learn new skills than kids in their teens. I've just started on a course and I predict it will take about 3 months to complete then start applying. I am a newbie but I would rather start from the bottom.

"you have to believe that you can succeed" that is so true with anything you go after in life. I study psych. and their was a study done on positive emotions in relation to achievements, people who were given positive reinforcement, did something positive etc. prior to the testing did better and worked faster than the people that were told something negative etc. gotta believe in yourself!

I WOULD like to make money, but its not essential. Really, sense I was like 3 I have really wanted to be online, and I enjoy web design, promoting, and that whole clump. I don't know a ton on web design, (just basic HTML and CSS), but I do use dreamweaver which speeds thins up a ton. I am also pretty young, like I have not even turned 13 yet. My parents are supportive as long as I keep my grades up. Do you think I am ready to make a website?

very truthful video's! I takes time to make money, and good common sense. I have been working at home since 2001, and just now getting good at it. People need more patience, and realistic goals. I do affilaite and hard product, I make 20% to 50% average profit, and my key is sticking to my interest. I do very well with Amazon and Nextday, as well as clickbank! PPL check your email, do follow ups, be responsive, and respectful to your customers, they are your income. Word of mouth is always best.

Hi Lisa, I came across this video and happened to be working on just the thing you're talking about. I'm a college student with a website idea that I am hoping to eventually make a reality. Watching this made me realize that it will take time and plenty of effort to create it, but that because I am PASSIONATE about my idea, I can succeed. Thanks for making me realize (again) that money shouldn't be my only drive to true success. I'll let you know if my idea gets big out there :)

The only way to make money from a website is to create something truly original. Its a false economy and a complete waste of time creating a website just to manipulate visitors to click on adverts - you're just setting yourself up for disappointment. My advice would be to get an education and enjoy life.

Please don't do that unless you're interested in the ad. It costs advertisers money. I know you were only doing it out of support but people are paying for those ads every time you click them. I prefer to earn my money honestly. But I know you had good intentions. :)

I don't have PHP skills either and I still make 6 figure online. It's not just about learning how to do complex programming. You have to learn how to market and build a credible site. I do know HTML and CSS but that's all.

Someone could but it's technically stealing because someone is paying to host that ad on your site/Google's network. It's not right and if google happened to notice clicks from the same IP addresses you could get banned. It's not worth it. Dishonesty always comes back to bite you in the end. Remember, someone is paying for the ads that show up on your pages. Every click costs them money. What if someone did that to ads you were paying for?

Lisa you are wonderful in the sense you are down to earth and you can't hit the nail any harder than this. Cos, there is a crowd waiting out there simply with nothing but the hearful of expectations of making quick money online. Internet business or online business is one of the toughest and time consuming proposition but will definitely yield positive results if one is patient enough , learn the basics, have a blueprint and nurture your business like your traditional business.

Great vid and makes a lot of sense, I am very very to all this and due to having soooo much time on my hands plus I have a passion for writing, the internet and love interacting with other people I am looking to go down this road while actively seeking work. Your vid actually mirrors how I feel about wanting to do things, although I dont have a deal of money I am not silly enough to believe that you can do it in five minutes. I am concerned about the quality and appearance of the sites built by Site Build It. Now I know you can hire your own web designer, or do it yourself if you know how. I don't know how. I wanted to know if Site Builder provides nicer layouts than the ones you use or that the official site uses? Say for instance, can you choose themed layouts, according to your business? Example, say I was a florist, will Site Build it have a layout of flowers for me?

Good question. There are some more up-to-date templates but they require a little more programming/learning on your part. Funny that you mention that though because in a recent newsletter Ken Evoy stated that more, updated templates are on the way. But don't forget you don't have to use their templates you can design your own from scratch with a software program like I did on Flat Stomach Exercises (dot) com

thanks lisa, good advice..out of all the sites i went to for learning how to create an income-generating website, yours seems the most real..most of the other places to get information have hidden agendas that become obvious quickly when they try to hawk something to you. I don't mind paying for information, but there has to be a value there first, something concrete that is laid out in a very applicable way. A person like me is looking for information, and I like your approach of communication.

Thank you! Yes, buy a domain and sign up with a hosting plan. Decide how you are going to build your site. Software? (Dreamweaver, CoffeeCup, etc.) or coding buy hand. I use Dreamweaver.

Lisa, You make it sound easy for somebody to build a website by coding by hand. For somebody to create a website that people will visit, they'll need months and years of experience of Graphic design, Html, Xhtml, Css, etc etc. Else their site will look very very bad.

I disagree DJAc1d - There are those who say they cannot draw, but I've taught them basics in 5 minutes. Graphic design is about reusing already designed concepts . . . I think you can do that pretty well, just don't copy someone Else's design entirely (plagiarize). Best thing, IMO, is to use a template, then experiment making changes using your own creative powers. If you need help, ask Lisa, join a forum, or date a website guru :-)

I disagree too. It didn't take me months or years to learn and I know people who have learned HTML/CSS in a few weeks and created a decent looking website. Everyone learns at different paces and if you have the right tutorials you can pick it up very quickly.

Not the SEO/marketing part, but you made it seem like it would take years to learn how to build a decent looking website. Months... now that's a little more realistic. But the entire money-making and marketing part definitely takes more time. Just wondering what part of the video you are referring to where I said it's easy? It's kind of ironic you say that because the whole purpose of this video was to tell people you can't get rich quickly.

Well for somebody to Graps the know-how to create a decent looking site, it'd take them AT LEAST a year, think about it lisa.
You've got HTML, then CSS, then they have to learn how to intergrate that into DIV's and such.
Then they have to learn how to make everything w3c compliant via XHTML. And at the same time, learn how things work in terms, if they want something "here", how to get it there. Etc..
Then, Having to learn Javascript, etc , etc..
Do you see where I'm coming from?

Sort of. But maybe we have definitions of a decent-looking site. Not everyone wants javascript and you certainly don't have to learn it to build a "decent looking" site. And if you use an editor you can do it much faster. Not everyone writes their code from scratch and I know some people who have very nice looking sites done with Dreamweaver. But if you're talking about hand-coding from scratch then yes that will take a lot longer.

True, but I must say, I use Dreamweaver but still know a great deal about CSS and HTML. I actually learned the basics of HTML first but there are some organizational features I like about DW. Even if you do decide to use software, I think everyone should learn the basics because it helps you troubleshoot. Great talking to you too. A very productive discussion. :)

No offense DJAc1d but I get tired of people discounting Dreamweaver (and it's usually programmers who do so). Just because people use it doesn't mean they don't know how to code. Like Lisa, I learned HTML and CSS first but I use DW because of the many features that allow me to organize my files and the shortcuts that make common updates a breeze. Especially when you have a large site to manage. Not everyone uses DW because they can't code.

Listing may only take a week or two but getting ranked is where the work comes in. Make sure you read up on SEO. (search engine optimization)
