Firstly, do not assume that those opposed to stecm cell research /use have not been touched by disease or death. You're trying to paint them as hypocrites without ANY evidence.
Secondly, stem cell harvesting currently uses "unwanted" fetus's... which is one thing. But now some people are creating embryo's just for the purpose of extracting stem cells. What next, letting them grow a bit more so that more cells can be harvested? I don't like that, human farming. It's a slippery slope.

I like hearing a perspective on South Africa that's not available elsewhere. And I think he reflects how a lot of white South Africans feel, judging from what other white South Africans have told me and the high emigration rate.

Before there was racism, there was cultural superiority, and it was pretty universal among all peoples. "Race" was invented in the 1800s as more people from different cultures but the same race lived together in the same city. Some say the white race was invented in the US to unify the European immigrants. Race was also based on an ancient Hindu idea of four colors. So whites may have invented racism but that's not saying much because it's the same as cultural superiority that's existed forever.

Re: Stem Cell research. Fallacy of composition on several accounts. Adult stem cell research has obviated any need whatsoever of embryonic stem cell research. And the argument that the baby is going to die anyway presupposes the inevitability of abortion. Embryonic stem cell research is simply one more rationale for the indefensible, the sacrifice of defenseless babies upon the altar of convenience. On the other hand, I do agree with your remarks regarding South Africa.
