  • how did u apply the metallic glaze?did u just brush it on all over? then second color same?no raging on the metallic before it dried?I do understand the last part but not sure how u did the metallic part

  • 1. Base coat, wait to dry, prefer over nite.

    2. "Rag on" a metallic paint - gold

    3. "Rag on" a metallic paint- copper. Dry over- nite

    4. Apply dark brown glaze using a brush or roller.

    5. Rag off dark brown glaze before it dries completely.

  • I agree, beautiful.

  • beautiful!

  • Bravo !

  • what kind of rag did you use??

  • In this project I used a 100 percent cotton 2 in 1 rag. One side is terry-cloth the other is plain cloth. On other projects, I have also used old t-shirts and paper towels depending on the finished look that I want, you may want to practice with any rag to get the look that YOU want. Have fun!

  • do you by any chance know how to create an ocean effect on the wall using faux finish??? i'm trying to paint my basement and i'm having serious difficulty (a carribean feel with ocean blue on the bottom and tropical green on top)

if you can be of any help, that would be great, if not thanks anyway for reading :)

  • What is your difficulty?... If its drying before you have time to blend the two colors the way you like, I would suggest using more glaze in the mix. If that's not the problem let me know what it is.

  • Greetings,

Great question! I can envision a deep dark chocolate brown base paint with gold. Use a Grey primer 1st, 2 coats of brown, and dry brush gold over the brown sparingly, just enough to give it sparkle, and you can still see the base coat. Great idea! I can also envision it with silver instead of gold :)

    Have fun!

    Terri:)

  • That's a gorgeous color.

Ive been trying to do a lot of research and initally wanted to paint the room a nice deep chocolate brown with a sort of light gold dust effect over the brown base but I can't seem to find anything on those two colors paired together or any references.

Have any ideas? Or what's your opinion after working with similar colors? Do you think a metallic gold over brown would take properly?

  • The 1st step is to base coat the walls with two coats of a lt. brown. (day 1)

2nd step is a copper metallic, and apply

3rd step gold metallic before copper is dry. (day 2)

4th step is a wash/glaze of a darker brown than the basecoat. (day 3)

  • I'm curious as to how long this took to do?

I want to paint my bedroom this color

    It looks great, good job!

  • THANK YOU!

Because of dry time between coats it took 3 days.
