I think when a band allows a song to be used on a show or in a movie, that's what they're going for. They want people to go check out the song, and then other songs by them, and maybe buy an album. You shouldn't fault people for discovering music in that manor. It's not like we all have the time to search through lists of bands all day until we find one we like.
