Just been watching BBC's Top of The Pops re-runs in IPlayer. Episode from Feb 1977 was on. I remember the song but not what the lady looked like. Worth a 35 year wait because she is certainly pretty and as a singer she has few equals. Real quality.

Don't know about the flying one, but the background logo is from the Midnight Special, a music staple of 70s late night TV. This angelic pop song beats any new age noise made in the last 15 years.

Keep in mind that shortly after this was released, in an interview she c laimed that she was not singing about 2 "men" but about one man and her CAREER as being the other "man". Maybe she was just backtracking, trying to deflect some of the heat from moral critics but weather that was true or not - that was what she claimed.

She sings, "this empty place inside of me that only he can fill". I wonder where that place is. And later she asks him to stay, even though she doesn't suggest she will make a choice between the two. Lame lyrics- bitch wants her cake and eat it too. She is definitely not lip syncing here, as a few others have suggested.

Legend has it that Mary didn't like the song(Supposedly was going thru a divorce at the time) & Peter Yarrow,the co-writer ,didn't think it would appeal to men (He get's the 'Dick Tracy Award" for that!!!) Never knew one MAN who liked it. Somehow this horrible insult to a man being treated like a jerk went #1,Go figure. I was disappointed to find that one of my all-time favorite singers ,Connie Francis,covered it on one of her later albums.
