i love my 92 ex. it has 250k miles on it and refuses to die. I plan on putting a ohc in it in the near future. it has 50 more horse power and is a more reliable motor than the ohv that is in the first gen explorer
Hey man how did yall do ur homemade lift kit. I have heard of people using hockey pucks and then people using steel blocks and welding them together. How did yall do it?
Is your engine stock, and if so.. have you had any problems with it? I'm looking at buying a 92 Explorer, 4x4 and I love them.. just want a reliable vehicle, that I can start to upgrade though.
@VertigoSqueal90 Hi. I really like mine to. I have almost 360,000 miles on mine. Have pulled and pushed my 20 ton semi with it at 55 mph when it broke down for about 40+ miles. Engine internally is basically stock. Has a K&N cold air intake, shift kit in tranny, computer chip, headers, and other things. Also installed a posi unit from a 97 Mustang GT. Had a head gasket blow about 2 yrs. ago and put new head gaskets and valve seals on. Other then that, change the fluids when they get crappy.
@oneguyssky Wow thats alot of miles. 20 ton semi? damn dude. I own an 89 F-150 with some extra shit in it, and its running awesome, but I just wanted something slightly newer like a 91-94 Explorer or Ranger. So your Explorer's reliable and has some power? lol.
@VertigoSqueal90 It isn't bad. I still get around 19 to 21 mpg to. Even with all the lift. But that's not going against the wind. 10 ton semi I mean't to say. 20,000 lbs.. Still a lot of weight. Not bad. Parts are really not that expensive. I always hunt for wrecked ones or the junyards when I need something.
@oneguyssky Wow, well thats pretty impressive. You should post a video one day lol. Im debating on buying this explorer, its got kinda bad rust holes on the inside of the cab, in the back (where the back seat is) and the back gate doesnt open.. but, thats all kinda minor work anyways. thanks for replying to my comments man, You've pretty much set my mind on buying an Explorer now. haha.
@KenDoll9125 Still doing other work. installed a 7,600 watt stereo system, reversing the rearend and a few other things. Will get a new vid up once it stops rAINGING CATS AND DOGS HERE.
i got a 91 explorer too..but am having a bit of a pain in the ass finding stuff...like i cant find the kn intake, dont kno what chip to go with, and so on the stuff i can buy lol and i want a shift kit to go along with it any info? ty!
Hi. Got the K&N intake from Ebay. Cost 175 bucks. Bama Chips has a good setup for 99 bucks right now. Another outfit on ebay and have their own site has a lot of suspension mods at a fair price to.
