I ordered one of these refurbished as a toy for my work ( we have free wi-fi).My expectations aree not that high so I should not be disappointed.I have an Asus laptop for games and a Macbook for everything else.They are all good machines for what they were designed to do.I just hope that with the newest firmware updates I can view flash video (ala youtube) on the Archos.The ipod touch is WAY overpriced in my opinion.Seriously , who would buy the Touch when the iPhone costs only a little more.

Wow I don't know what to say but this is not a good investment.

1/ Touch screen is not that good. Not only is it quite unresponsive but alot of the touch buttons could have been placed in better positions .

2/Between media playback it often locks up to load for about 4-5 seconds varying.

3/Much of the features advertised with the products require third party applications which you end up paying more money than you would like.

ow and lastly the hdd on mine broke within a week. No lies here.

Ijust charged my archos about 8hours... the light was blinking fully charged... i unplugedd n used it for 2miins the battery is down to 87% now... "this media tablet" isn't all that great... save ur momeyyy n buying something worth the money

Then... that's the bad part of the A5. It never show the actual amount of battery left.

The Archos 5 actually can play videos continuously for at least 2.5 hours. Compare to 7 hours on advertisement, that really sucks, but it's not that fast like 13% down in 2 minutes. =)

As for the Archos 5, I highly recommend the battery dock.

It will charge your A5 fully in 3 hours through its AC adapter (compare to 8 hours, big difference).

The battery dock can do TV out.

It also has 1 USB port so that you can connect your digital camera to it and copy photos to the A5.

Extra battery when you connect the battery dock to the device.

It's about $50.

If you plan on watching videos i would go for the archos 5, you can find a 250 gig archos for about $200 as compared to the zune HD which is nowhere near that big for a little bit more money. If you want a media player go for the zune HD, if you want a tablet that is better for video go for the archos.

you can also "drag and drop" from explorer in windows. but yes you can use windows media player or like VLC or like i said drag and drop into the archos. If u want a cd in your "my music" just drag the cd to the my music folder in the archos..

hey, i just have a few questions about the 250g. how does it feel in like a jean pocket etc, is it bulky/uncomfortable? can you use itunes to put music and vids on it? whats the battery like, cause archos says it only has 4 hrs of vid battery and 10 hrs of music battery? ive got a ipod classic which keeps breaking and i watch vids a whole lot and listen to music, is this worth the money, is it as portable as the ipod classic for just walking down the road and getting the bus? thanks very much!!
