  • Best Syd Barrett vid/ tribute or otherwise I've ever seen. Totally changes the mood/feeling in which prior well-released footagew was generally evocative of. <3 Syd! :)

  • this is a song from Bonobo its a band ..

  • Whats the song called in this vid? Loving the video by the way I'm currently reading Pigs might fly. Pink Floyd are way before my time but I have a real interest in mid 60's to 70's british music and culture. I find Syd to be a facinating character.

  • dont drink drive..... take LSD and fly..... fuck im trippin ma tits offf XD

  • better than god

  • I get so sick of the ignorance and total mis "myth" rumour-oh Syd was fucked up by LSD.LSD didnt fuck him up or any other drug and in fact with better quality and stronger acid back then, it would have been better actually. He must obviously have been PREDISPOSED, as some ppl are and with pot even, they go nutty.Their brains cannot handle the mustard, and they will learn the hard way, but again, drugs are not the cause- they may be a trigger as with Syd.They dont know squat about squat.RIP SYD

  • @mike666nz well put, though it is widely known that Syd did not in fact go insane but rarely could not cope with the attention that Pink Floyd began receiving and isolated himself from that aspect of his life, though he did go on to produce a couple high quality solo albums after he left the group. It was said by his sister that he never did go insane and just never wanted to be a rock star.

  • @MitchellGhazali interesting. No I didnt widely know that at all actually.I have read the fanzine, and all the info available over the last 25 years and have heard that abt Rosemary also.As for everyone blaming LSD-it can act as a trigger with predisposed brains-otherwise it does not so acid casualty is a term that makes me laugh at their ignorance-and no doubt never had a tab in their lives-so are talking through their rears. The man was a musical genius in my view and it was a great shame

  • @mike666nz cheers Mitchell. The more I think about it actually, the lower and shittier I think it was how he was essentially shafted by his old school "pal" Gilmour, who is certainly the bloated rock star who would be lucky to do anything naughtier these days than have a chardonnay. Then theres the whole Roger Waters thing- listening to them talk in various documentaries over the years about Syd, they minimise his effect and the fact that they owe him big time-without Syd, theyd not be rich&famous

  • he also took many aspirines in the early years and maybe can have caused some of his (its) desorders

  • ive seen this footage before. he was on acid the whole time. well i mean in this footage he was. i remember seeing it i on tv

  • Watch the new video about Pink Floyd:

    [Youtube] /watch?v=umPJZMs_2XE

  • What the hell was he on man ???

  • @johnnycheck99 Acid

  • why is it if a famous person does drugs in search of truth we call him a genius? .. and on the same token when we see a normal person do drugs in search of truth we call him a junky?

... the only person who knows for sure is Syd

  • @pmleffers well hes on acid so it would be a journey of sorts

but the ones most people call junkies are meth heads and shit

  • @BRADANDKALEB ppl who don't do either don't make that distinction

  • @pmleffers wait what lol thats like a tongue twister

but i dunno cuz famous people r cool to everyone and whatever they do people think its not fucking up but being cool

  • @pmleffers: Let's ask him.

  • Love psicodelic life, but no drugs!

  • @FedArteUrbano Dont be afraid of "drugs" anything natural that comes from the earth is perfectly fine for you, Cannibas, phsylociben mushrooms, morning glory seeds, payote etc... Im perfectly normal and I do all of those.

  • @DeseasedOranges Cerbera odollam... Fix you're statement

  • @Spadesandsinners I was using a different term so people would maybe have a clue on what I was talking about thanks....

  • @DeseasedOranges and that's what Syd thought too..

  • I think you can't explain what really happend in his mind...

Maybe he was a seeker, who searched for reason why there are human and an existence...he couldn't find the words for this and so he puts it in his music hoping for some answer.

Later he got into despair and took drugs like acid and LSD. that made him insane eventually.

I really don't no...but he was genius and I admire him!

    RIP Syd

(sry my english is bad, I'm from germany)

  • @AllyArtist93 acid and lsd is the same thing

  • You reached for the secret too soon.. RIP Syd

  • i really like the video. Syd was crazy, but i'm pretty sure my life, and many others would suck without his influence.

  • see you on the dark side of the moon syd. RIP.

  • cool video! where's the music from?

  • @enri89 this is "Super 8" by bonobo

  • Syd was child like in the way he saw things.that is a good thing.

  • @gyspy724 was that before or after he shaved all his hair off?

  • @hihihippl BEFORE. the shaving episode(?) happened later on because he had too much acid. REST IN PEACE AND SHINE ON YOU CRAZY DIAMOND!!♥

  • @ayamavrenim He was bound to go insane from the start. The acid only sped up his decline.

  • @hihihippl YES IT IS TRUE, he was a genious, at least for me (and lots of other people,) and as many other like hut i still thank him for his insanity. In fact he decided to be somewhere else. (:

  • Is the intro from "Syd's first trip"? It looks similar

  • i love psychedelic rock!

  • syd is the king he is a rare breed tht can never be copied. shine on syd

  • long live syds memory rip psychedelic bretheren

  • Love the 'Diggit' at the end lol.

  • Thanx for all Syd! Be happy there...

  • i agree wtih daedley!!! thanks for sharing

  • che tempi, quando tutto era creatività!

  • me lleva la corneta, q fumada estoy escuchando...

  • what song is this

  • read the title

  • @JABmediaJAB - Why, What's that got to to do with what song is playing?

The song is, im assuming, by Bonobo.

  • sorry....

  • oh and i love bonobo <33

  • a tribute to a mad man. sad indeed.

  • a mad musical genius. R.I.P Syd

  • Im really confused be you @metlica1988.. Its spelled "intelligence" and "floyd" and yet you want to have an argument about something you can't even spell? Touche.

  • Well done, well done.

  • that wud be really gud to freestyle to. idk if anyone else was feelin it but i was.

    rip syd

  • u cant compare syd with the rest of pink floyd, he has a much higher musical intelegens. but the most pink floyed songs sounds better.

    well, R.I.P Syd

  • @Laserdry you understand nothing

  • @Laserdry you couldn't possibly be more wrong, Syd was a genius, write something better, then talk

  • Syd was ... what we call..

"Hard times for a Prince like him"

he felt something more than jusr Freedom..

that's why some of us.. can't just.. Understand him..

    Rest In Peace Syd Barrett..

    our Friend..

  • Syd was something else.....wish you were here.....

  • Society is very real, and it's very fucked up.

  • I nearly went the same way, and i only took the shit once. that was enough. i knew it'd be my undoing if I'd kept trying it. I was just too sensitive to it. Syd probably was too. If you've got a weakness acid just amplifies it like crazy. . . leaving you quite unhinged.

  • lsd if used in the right circumstances is not a harmful drug- sid had other issues

  • I mean it depends man, in Syd's case he was already starting to go schizophrenic before he took acid, and acid back in the day was more powerful (not the drug itself but the amount they would take and think was "safe" is about 3 to 1 ratio, like 2 tabs back then could contain up to 6 or 10 tabs worth today) All i'm saying is that the drug is very mysterious and very different after effects on people, from finding yourself inside of you to losing your mind inside of your self....

  • @ironbuttermilk i dont think you understand how much acid he did before he lost it....

  • Usually we are more insane because the society isn't real.

  • he was not crazy but just too genius for people to understand him

  • Syd was ingenious, such a shame schizophrenia conquered him.

  • um it didnt

  • ummagumma

  • cRAZYyyyYYY

  • Many people have not had a even a puff of weed and their mind is in Jupiter...whoever has a problem with his brain chemistry...is just a matter of time...if you have the 'delics every morning with your breakfast that don't help either.

  • he fucked his brain with acid and 1 time went around town with cabbages on his feet.lol its a massive shame tho

  • It's humorous the way people like to explain this guy. It's like, do you love him because you can call him crazy? Or because you can sympathize for his 'mental illness'? Syd Barrett, Friedrich Nietzsche, Edgar Allan Poe, Antonin Artaud - they all suffered the same fate.

  • he puts the "syd" in, "acid"

  • @slapster789 pfffff

  • acid may have surfaced his schizophrenia and he basically went crazy

but he was still a genius and the sad thing is that he knew that he was mentally ill and he couldn't do anything about it

    just listen to dark globe

  • he was great

  • of course the madcap knew something what many of us didnt...insanity

  • the music is from bonobo - its written in the info

  • poor sid but maybe he wanted to live and die that way

people have to admit sid knew something that we didn't did not

  • of course he knew it

dont like pity him cos i really love him

  • really, what is the music in the background? it's amazing!

  • That's a great tribute! Great choice of music.

Syd was a beautiful human being.

  • He wasn't.

  • whats the name of the song in the background?

  • Super 8 - Bonobo ;)

  • Syd reminds me of richey edwards, in looks and personality. It's so sad what happened to them both.

  • wat exactley happend to syd barrett

  • They locked him in a institution

  • In what way what happened to him?!?! He died! But in the 60's, his talent started to dissapear, after all the substance abuses.

But still, even after that, he is still considered as one of the best musicians ever. He was a musical genius!

  • schizophrenic

  • y did they put him in an institution

  • He had to go to a institution because he ended up taking a lot of acid just over time and there was something wrong with him but the acid sped it up and he well went insane it would get so bad that he would get on stage and just stand there but he was a brilliant man a genius and a visionary R.I.P Syd Barret Shine on you crazy diamond

  • He had Schizophrenia. He used to be a fairly normal guy until he started doing drugs (The drugs he took (LSD and Alcohol) were one major causes of why he had the illness)

  • Pfft yeah im 19. whatever, like i said; you're a cunt and seriously, no one likes you. just stop.

  • LOL LOL! man no one likes you. like seriously look at your profile comments... please just stop, and if possible kill yourself. The original problem here is that you were in the wrong. Your racism hasn't changed that, nor your repeat of my attack on grammar. you are such a cunt.

  • You racist twat. Shut the fuck up you cretin. Not knowing what a knob is in no way works in your favour you stupid Klu Klux Klan fuckwit.

Arn't you like 23? Fucking yokel you cant spell anything.... Stupid redneck.

  • what's the song in the background?

  • LOL! that is gold. And it would be hurtful if i were from the united Kingdom... Only im Australian. I dont know which biography you've read, or whose opinion rather, but i have read the same as killerkiwi. KNOB!

  • seriuosly, I've never seen such a beautiful man as Syd,

  • He was even brushing his teeth in the studio then.

  • Major props for this. Syd was amazing, he was the greatest artist ever to invent such an amazing band. Shine on madcap.

  • hahaha is that "in fact" true deadwaffles? mate you might be barely credible if it weren't for your semi-retarded language... "he burdted in"? haha say killerkiwi hasnt read about syd? Mate you can barely read. your wrong

  • he did that shit at the shows coz he was on acid, and he didn't burst in, he walked in and watched until someone told them it was him.

Syd shaved his eyebrows and acted weird because he was, in fact, weird.

But i'm gonna stop talking anout him now coz i didn't know him, all this is just my interpretation.

    Rock on Syd.

  • Simplemente perfecto. Lo amo.

  • compilments for this video...

    syd...eternal..

  • Being crazy and having bad social skills are two different things.

And he lived pretty normally after he left Pink Floyd, it wasn't till a good while later that he had had enough of it all and decided to go live with his mum. He came out plenty of times to get groceries, go to the store, just things people normally do, he just lived a normal life.

My interpretation is that he didn't go crazy, it was that he just wanted to live a normal life again.

  • I think he went a little crazy from drugs and fame fatigue but, in the end, I think he just wanted to live a regular life, not the life of a rock star or celebrity. I think he was a tad eccentric but there is nothing wrong with being eccentric. I am also eccentric.

  • You can see vids before his problems where he was really clever, engaged and articulate, but there are vids after his illness where he's not with it or articulate at all. He did not like the fame and commercial side of things. -couldn't cope with it. He was a createtive artist who wanted a normal life but you can tell it was more than that an that something (no doubt the excessive use of drugs) had really changed him, so that he lost it , but was not unhappy. Just lived differently afterwards

  • He didn't write this man, and his friends all said he had brilliant social skills.

I reckon he was a genius too man, but yeah.

    listen to octopus.

  • Chill track.

  • alot of great pics of Syd is that really him trippin out what was that a 8 mm camera anywhere to get a good copy
