I always love how they show historical films about the Revolutionary War or the Victorian Era and every character is beautiful and coiffed. Most people don't stop to think that back then there was no medical care and no dentistry and people rarely bathed. They wore wigs because of hair loss and lice, and wore tons of perfume because they stank.
@fariz90 the XVIIIth french century fits with all kind of music. This is absolutly amazing. This part of the french history seems to be universal......
Awesome movie and soundtrack ! Love the scenes when Marie-Antoinette is at Le Petit Trianon. It's such a peaceful place, and one of the most beautiful gardens i've ever seen. I am lucky to live near Versailles so i can go there anytime. If one day you visit le Château de Versailles, you have to see this amazing place !
I absolutely love the Sofia Coppola movie Marie Antoinette, the soundtrack was amazingly perfect for the movie. It's one of my favorite movies and soundtracks...just so lovely, decadent and beautiful. I want to run and jump in fields wearing those beautiful dresses and do nothing all day haha
Flawless portrayal of Marie Antoinette, this move kicked ass and had the best soundtrack ever. Made me long for my youth and simpler times. Ah to be a teenager in the 80's......
You know when you find that one song that describes your life and you feel like you should be sitting in a theater watching a montage of your life as it plays. I just found it.
I walked down the isle to this song at my wedding. It just fit our stories. I know it isn't the original, but Ian's words hit the nail on the head just as well.
Why can't people live like this today?! This was a time of greatness..now look at thee world. I Love the royal families of europe..and I LOVE Marie Antoinette!
Really? You wish things are the way they were in France in the late 1700s and early 1800s? Have you ever even HEARD about the French Revolution? First of all, the chances that you would "live" like Marie Antoinette would be 1 in a billion. And, after all, she got whacked. The whole reason the French Revolution started was because the royal family ignored/couldn't fix France's problems.
@LucasHiltonVicious16 And yes, the world today is so awful. What do women need rights for? Why should poor people be afforded the same rights, opportunities and social mobility as the upper class? I think you got too caught up in the wigs and hair in this film and missed the point that Marie Antoinette didn't exactly have a peachy life, despite the extravagance and comfort of Versailles.
I always loved period films and when I saw this movie for the first time last nite on sundance I was absolutly blown away. I didn't really think the music would fit this movie but boy was I wrong.
I'm a real bastard of a critic, and I went into this film thinking it would be trash...ah, but nonetheless, I was transfixed. Superb soundtrack and touching piece of work.
The rights and privileges might have changes over the generations that have come and gone, but the essential beauty of a woman's hair and elegant style unfortunately haven't. Marie Antoinette, iconic queen of France and Louis XVI shows what a girl's ideal dream really is living while living the life of glamor and vanity in the the historical century of the 1800s and never-waking nightmare of having having immense power on her palm, without clenching her fist. Live and let live my Marie.
amazing!!! i listen to this constantly on my phone too lOl so peaceful i wish everyone in the world could hear this song at the same time and see how it would be :D
Wonderful song...I can't stop listening to it, I have it in my ipod and cell phone. I love the atmosphere it creates - it takes me far away from this world (thank god) into a dreamy but meditative state....
@StefySte83 In an interview with Coppola, she said the reason why they were in the film was to show how Marie Antoinette's life was that of a teenage girl.
All that eating and lounging around should technically make Marie Antoinette the size of a house.
