What an amazing piece. I agree completely with that score being some of his best work. Your rendition is amazing. Even the impossible bouncy part in the middle! If I could make one nit picky request though: double playing the chords at the beginning that are sustained in the real music (and the liberties with the rhythm of the main theme there) I thought kinda messed up the flow there (if you know where I am talking about). Again great work! How you can play like that astounds me!
@datbates Thanks for the detailed comment, always appreciated! :D Are you referring to the part that starts at 0:19? That part was indeed rather difficult to translate onto piano. I did the eighth-notes in the right hand because just sustaining the chords tended to leave the melody sounding too bare, and there are actually some quiet figures like that in the original, beneath the string chords. As for the rhythm, I think I only messed up briefly around 0:50...was that what you meant?
@1taken The right hand is a great solution. I was talking about the repeated notes on the left at 19 (low strings in the original). Long long short long long in the original and all even in yours, and then that melody continues quite freely instead of matching the beat of the trill. Know what I'm saying? Soooo picky, but it feels a bit rigid in yours and so smooth in the original... Nothing wrong with 15 I can hear. Again, amazing!
@datbates Oh wow, you're right...not sure why I heard that as two separate notes. Thanks again for the help! Good-natured nitpicking is always appreciated! :D
@FishfilmInc I'd definitely like to, yeah. I'm not sure if I'll be doing Ilia's theme, but I'd certainly like to do Goldsmith's main theme. I might do one or two other cues from TWOK, too. =)
This was fantastic!!! Amazing work!!!!!
