NO... In this scene "the freeze" is acting like some kind of energetic force. In real life, what you actually feel as "cold" is really energy leaving something. For something to get really really cold it has to give it's "warmth" off to something else. The air couldn't possibly absorb that much energy that quickly.

It probably took longer for the inside of the building to freeze. Sense the teenagers had more time, they made it into the room where they had a FIRE going and it was stopping the freeze.
