  • I hate how the GOP tries to add things to bills like a thousand leeches in a swimming pool.

  • All you naive morons....this isn't about healthcare....our administration doesn't give a shit about your health. THEY WANT POWER AND MONEY!! Just like with the cap and trade bill.....just another power and money grab. Declaring CO2 a pollutant. Are you kidding me. Why don't all you liberals hold your breath....that'll decrease CO2 levels. Hell.....if just Maxine Waters would hold her breath....that would be a big help.

  • fail

  • Government doesn't go the way we want, surprise surprise

  • good health care is dead! go buy ur own shit if u want H.C. its not a right anyway!

  • @fireamracing Glad you want your country to fall apart so much.

  • @Xerxes4242 fucking canadians you don't have any fuckin room to tell me about my country falling apart! your health care sucks so bad "socialized health care in the maple leaf" your ppl are coming to my country to use our health care so they don't have to wait 6 months to a year to get help!

  • @fireamracing Angry americans need to go to war with eachother and raise the world IQ by 30 points

  • uhmhat einer bock bissl zu quatschn ihr werdets warscheinlich nicht bereuen ^^

  • Hey, it might be over, but this does not mean that the rest of the world will stop laughing at you.

Expensive, iniquitous, unhealthy people while there is medicine sitting unused on a shelf somewhere.

Well done USA, your 'libertarian' morons and conservatives corp suckers ranted down being healthy, for insurance corps $.

Here is an idea, if you love them so much, why not send them all your money and shoot yourselves in the head.. 80% of America would support your right to bare arms for that.

  • As evidenced with this health care "plan", the US is becoming exactly what it says it is against - money taking precedence over the people, inequality entrenched in law, loss of freedom, enslavement by poverty. Greatest country on earth? Keep up the brainwashing - it still works.

  • Public option to give healthcare to the Somoli refugees who have taken over Mineanapolis? Why would we want to cover them, who wont help this nation, as they are 3rd world. GTFO!

This public option thing, was free stuff for blacks.

  • lmao and that's why you're against it..even though it would help everybody get cheaper health insurance..not free, just a lot cheaper..

  • The chance for change, for real change and what happens? Nothing. Money talks, bullshit walks, the rich stay rich, the poor stay poor, the rich fight to your death to make sure it stays that way. I'm ashamed to be an American right now, I just am. They killed reform and no reform will be had. Disgusting, shameful. I'm ashamed right now.

Land of the cost, home of the corporation. Money for the rich, screw the rest of us. Business as usual, which is terrible.

  • What do you expect? It's health for clunkers. The same bait and switch as always. Promise something free, get just enough support, then saddle the people with the bills. That was the reason for opposing the bill the whole time. Any opposition by 'teabaggers' just got dismissed out of hand.

  • Talk about cluster fuck!

  • they must have been high

  • this is the biggest screwjob on the american people since that y2k scam

  • I would like to express a heart felt and deep insight into these matters on the internet, right here on youtube... LOL, just kidding. Can you imagine if I was really like that!? Gads, the loneliness.

  • Under the new health care plan, the fine for not having coverage is much less than the cost of insurance. Since insurers will not be allowed to bar persons with preexisting conditions, people can purchase insurance if and when they need health care. The insurance companies don't think twice about ripping people off, so don't worry about the insurers.

  • I knew this is how it would end up.. the right wing corporate tools would buy off as many as they needed and then use every DIRTY trick in the book to kill any real reform.. the insurance and pharma companies will be better off with bigger profits now just what they wanted

  • Why won't this video play?

  • Is Shaw your ISP? Try adding &fmt=18 to the end of the URL.

  • Thank You.

  • I don't think Cenk is right on this. Premiums are so high partly because there is no proper preventative care, so people wait and get really sick and become really expensive to heal. The health insurance industry is pressured into trying to compensate for that expense in insane ways. Forcing people to have health insurance can fix this. Lack of competition is an issue, but I think the reason they decided to drop it, is because lack of preventative care is a much bigger problem.

  • The insurance they are forcing has high deductibles so if you can't afford to go to the doctor now, you won't be able to on this insurance, either. It doesn't kick in until you have bills over a fairly high amount. There's also no provision that they have to even credit your copays and other out of pockets in your deductible.

  • There is no preventive care because there is no access to GPs. If there was a way of funding cheap access to GPs, then there would be no need for the underinsured and uninsured to go to emergency rooms to be treated, which is the most expensive and inefficient way to treat people with everyday illnesses.

This is completely eliminated under single payer.

  • the insurance and drug companies grew so big BECAUSE of government law making medicine so tough in the first place with all the drugs that require decades of testing, all kinds of malpractice suit and prohibition of purchasing insurance across state line to reduce competition.. now you want the same entity to patch their mistakes over.. it's impossible. i'm getting tired of seeing some of you support the same things that never work.. this is insanity, and then see the predictable results always

  • You theory seems to be that big guvmint - I'm using the libertarian spelling - is responsible for the outrageous cost of health insurance in the US.

However, there is bigger guvmint in France (and the Netherlands, to name two countries), and yet the cost of government-run health insurance is lower in those countries and overall health care figures are better than in smaller-guvmint US.

    Meaning your theory is fail.

    Merry Christmas!

  • that's the WHOLE point.. the government can never get any complicated things right.. they cannot nation build another country the way their people want, they cannot manage the delicacy of the market place, they cannot run health care the way we want because the government is so big and so far away from its people.. that's why you had the constitution to remotely restrict them from meddling in things they have no care for.. how much more do you need to see, cenk, to see the big picture? how much?

  • Whudda ya mean health care is dead?

I think forcing Americans to pay taxes to the private sector is a brillant idea.

Now go pay your privitized taxes to the CEO's or be a criminal.

  • It's not dead... it's just not the government's responsibility to take care of our heath care needs. They should not be considering such a proposal and I'm tickled that you are finally getting it. :)

  • In the countries where it IS seen as the governments responsibility to either take care of healthcare needs, it is being done MUCH more efficiently, it is MUCH cheaper, and the infant mortality rates are lower and the life expectancy is FAR higher. America spends TWICE as much on healthcare as those countries that have universal single payer healthcare, and yet are 50th in life expectancy.

  • last time I made almost the exact same argument, I was called a scum-bag communist. ya have to love the complete lack of reasoning.

What we have gets a failing grade, and need to be fixed. Isn't that what we do in America? We FIX IT!

  • Not anymore. What you do in America these days is put a patch on a patch on a patch on an ad hoc system,

  • I cannot disagree with you here... our government has overstepped their bounds and need a good trimming. My fear is that this won't happen until our judicial branch returns to rulings based on the constitution.

  • Perhaps you are correct, but my distrust for government makes it difficult for me to believe any of the data they release...

I would love to see our heathcare system improved... I simply do not believe our government could possibly make this happen without causing harm in the form of unintended consequences.

  • @dangerouslytalented efficiently huh? death panels are efficient to! infant mortality rates lower? under the new health care law no nurse is to give the child any attention for the first 2-5 mins "that mean cleaning out the nasal passage so they can breath!" ppl in America live longer than in other countries b/c we have the best health care system in the WORLD! gov health care weeds out the weak so the collective can have healthier slaves! sound familiar??? EUGENICS!

  • @fireamracing There are no death panels in the bill. Stop getting your news from worldnetdaily.

You take a look at the data (CIA world factbook) and you can see that the infant mortality rates are higher in the US, and life expectancy is up to 5 years lower, even though the nations with socialised medicine have MUCH lower costs (government and private combined) per capita, AND have higher life expectancy and lower infant mortality.

  • @dangerouslytalented OMG a fuckin aussie telling me about my countries infant mortality rate!!!! dont fuckin stand on your soapbox a try to tell me about my fuckin country unless u live here! ALL YOUR NEWS IS FUCKING WRONG! unless you have been living in a cave lately your stupid fucking country is SOCIALIST! keeping drinking your horse piss fosters and shut the fuck up!

  • @fireamracing Do you know who told me? THE AMERICAN CIA. Go check it on the CIA World Fact Book website.

  • That IS what happens when government interferes stupid.

  • I work for Caterpillar and our corporate office just released a memo to employees about the senate healthcare bill. After reading the bill it was determined that our healthcare costs will go up 20% the first year alone, due to this proposed reform bill. My senator, Claire McCaskill has shut her constituants out. Her office has not been accepting phone calls for a week now. When do we stop this insanity?

  • You can't do ANYTHING.

There is a REASON why it is being voted on at Christmas time...

Everybody is worrying about presents and turkey and getting home in time through the snow and the inevitable fight with Cousin George and getting the kids to sleep so you can wrap the presents without being sprung and accidentally revealing that Santa does not exist, that they don't have time to worry about the health care bill. And all the journalists are doing the same thing.

  • @jjmnky:

Does your company also possess a DEAD PEASANT life insurance policy on it's employees?

    Would really like to know.

What in hades is wrong with those companies? That is a vile practice and why is it legal?

  • There is a place for employee insurance, like, for example, key technicians, or movie stars, or people who are so vital to a company that if something happens to them, the entire project is at risk.

However, janitorial staff and factory floor workers are not essential. And the creation of such policies are a flagrant abuse.

  • @Dan:

    Two types:

Executive or key person policies, as you stated.

Broad-based or janitors policies that insure rank-and-file workers. Here the purpose is basically profit. The life insurance proceeds are tax-free.

Walmart has taken over 350,000 policies. Workers are worth more dead than alive?

This is legal in the US????

  • mad8london247

You posted a comment on my page. I sent you an email asking you to quantify your statement. I am still awaiting your response.I would like an answer.

  • I'm calling SHENANIGANS! Your HQ BUYS health insurance from carrier, they don't provide it themselves. How could they predict the actual cost, only the actual insurance carrier could possibly have an idea, and we already know what their motives are.

Your Health Insurance carrier is just using your company, and it's employees as a vehicle for more fear mongering.

Don't get me wrong, the current bill SUCKS, and is an insurance/pharmaceutical company's wet dream!

BIG MONEY, for more BIG MONEY!

  • Until lobbyists are dead real American health care reform will NEVER happen no matter who's the president. It's sad :( Glad I'm Canadian. At least you don't have to worry about dying from not being able to get health care here. You might just have to wait a few hours in the ER to get it though lol

  • ... the healthcare companies have a good reason to keep them alive though...

  • LOL I had a youtube argument on how unsatisfied Canadians are about their health care, and was informed (to put it nicely) that Canadians are VERY unhappy. I tried to politely disagree, but was then called a communist.

As far as wait times at hospital in the US, I've witnessed wait times that surpassed "A couple of hours" on many occasions, and last time I needed to see a doctor, no doctor could "Fit me in" sooner then 3 weeks, and the first question was about my insurance (I have a PPO).

  • yes wait times in public health care are rediculiously long however when i was in the military I was seen by doctors ASAP

  • In privatised health care waiting to be seen by a doctor even in an Emergency circumstance can be quite a long wait however when i was in the military any time i made an appointment to see the doc the longest I ever had to wait was 3 days and when I took a fellow Marine to the Emenrgency entrance at the on base hospital he was seen right away

  • Akumetsu!

  • @CapitalExchange

Hitler? Left? One of his first targets where people who were politically leaning to the left! He declared Communism as the enemy of Germany and that Marxism was a jewish strategy to subjugate Germany and the rest of the world. historians agree hitler was strongly CONSERVATIVE.

    Idiot.

  • Qho are you?

Hilter was a 'leftist' please...........read some history.

Start with -What is Fascism- and than get back to us

    OK?

  • No, he was an authoritarian. Not a leftist.

Leftists care generally for the poorest. Hitler did NOT care for the poorest, he worked very very hard to make SURE there was an underclass (jewish, polish, Russians,Gypsies, and so forth) and took EVERYTHING from them, first their jobs, then their property, then their liberty, then their lives, then their hair and wedding rings and gold teeth.

  • @CapitalExchange

    You are a trolling imbecile

  • @ambrosesams Prove me wrong!.

  • Your mother is a harlot. Prove me wrong.

  • Ha ha, golden!

  • @ CapitalExchange It's been done already so I don't have to waste my time.

  • 50th time you said this in the last month.

  • and on christmas eve too. man this shows you what kind of evil inhuman demented mentality the "elites" have.

  • You only pass such legislation when you don't want people knowing about it.

I think it is time to have a good look at it, and LET EVERYBODY KNOW ABOUT IT.

  • Cenk has been saying this same thing for two months

  • a little chopin requiem please.

godfuckingdamnit. it's about time the left became unified for once.

i saw the same shit during the clinton impeachment, libs folding up their tent and accepting whatever the the loud mouth idiot right says.

the abortion restriction goes... or so does the left.

the mandate goes... or so does the left.

the strong public option reappears... or the left goes.

we are the left. not some patsy for mediocrity.

  • Its the American people who don't want it.

  • We just got rid of 2 tyrants.Lets give the president a chance before you pull out your shotgun uncle fester.

  • Hes had a year.

  • The problem is, Obama is not being ENOUGH of a tyrant.

Had Bush/Cheney wanted to pass this thing through, he would have RAMMED this legislation through, despite a majority against them.

Instead, Obama wants to build consensus, has given away concession after concession, and even after all this watering down, the Republicans STILL won't vote for it, and the Democrats do not NEED their votes.

  • Silly motherfuckers are too into the "numbers" no matter How legitmate the bill was they'll pull some bullshit statistics and out there ass to try and put this thing down, and why do these old fucks care anyways they would all be dead by the time the bill really did the damage they thought it would

  • The Tenth Amendment restates the Constitution's principle of federalism by providing that powers not granted to the national government nor prohibited to the states by the constitution of the United States are reserved to the states or the people.

  • The constitution is pretty clear, the federal government has no power to force any such program on the states or the people, out founders want the states and the people to have the ultimate say why else did they ensure we are armed? If the bill doesnt have a state opt out option, the people will be fully within their rights to rebel and remove these tyrants. Please Remind them why we still have our 2nd amendment rights

  • Everyone here is on Mtv time people have been working on health care for over 60 years and these guys are on the verge of signing something. And the privileged are crying because its not enough? We take this step and the next step is easier. You pale pathetic clowns this is what the greatest generation gave birth to?

  • My condolences to the Americans.

At least, one thing has been proven quickly, you have a politician for a President, not a leader.

He is a quisling for the corporatocracy akin to Bush.

  • The $246 billion the CBO estimated the legislation would save Medicare "can't both finance new programs and help pay future expenses for elderly covered under the federal program," as the current bill has it doing, the budget office said, "Nor could those savings be used to extend the solvency of Medicare, set to run out of money in 2017," Bloomberg reported.

  • Thus it begins. It was obvious that as soon as the Dems get their bill, they immediatly start making noise about how it doesn't go near far enough and it just a small first step. Obvious, because the whole thing is just the begining of the movement towards a complete government takeover of medicine, and anything else they can arrange. "Everything for the state, nothing against the state, nothing outside the state." Govt. extending in every direction as far as possible, thus the despotism begins.

  • No, actually real Dems would rather kill this bill than let it pass.

  • You know why a government takeover of medicine is justified?

Because the corporations are RIPPING THE ENTIRE UNITED STATES OFF. Americans pay, per capita, DOUBLE what those in ANY country with universal healthcare, but they are FIFTIETH in life expectancy (barely above Cuba) and infant mortality is unjustifiably high.

    Americans are paying MORE.

    Americans are recieving FAR LESS.

  • @dangerouslytalented This is incredibly misguided information that is used in the wrong way.

  • how so?

I got the information from the CIA website.

  • Hahaha! If you people though gas prices were high, wait until you see your monthly premiums! Hahahahahahaha!

  • Obama just lost his re-election campaign. We need warrior progressives like FDR, LBJ, and the Kennedys who are willing to grab a pair and fight the good fight.

    Oh well.... :(

  • Theodore Roosevelt, just imagine if they still made Republicans like that.

  • America needs to ban homeschooling and wait 20 years before they can pass these kinds of bills. The majority still believes in ghosts...'nuff said.

  • @Somai82 LMFAO XD!!!!!!

  • tehant1liberal: he even has"liberal" in his name. Talk about obvious trolls.

  • @tehant1liberal , it's that a of badge of honor for you ? I mean to be that stupid, what you just enumerated is the antithesis of liberalism .

  • yup, countries like Canada, Sweden, Britain, France, Denmark, Norway, Luxemburg, Italy, etc. All of those countries have a higher standard of living than the US. Thats how good life can be when your entire system is not geared to making the rich richer.

  • Then move there you whiny bitch. All socialized systems are like that because they distribute wealth and prevent their citizens from prospering greatly... unfortunately while some people prosper others suffer. thats the way it is in America so if you don't like it move the fuck out

  • @Buergs323

1% get everything whilst 95% get the scraps. Great system you have.

  • haha you make it seem like America is a 3rd world country with those made up numbers.

Where you get those numbers? I'm interested in your source...you get the numbers from your ass?

  • American workforce barely get a pay increase in line with inflation.

American CEOs get paid over 500+ more than their workers.

    Are those made up numbers?

Do you know what DEAD PEASANT insurance means? Does the company you work for, have one on you?

  • "Are those made up numbers?"

I don't know...why don't you tell me? I asked you to prove your statements to me.

Considering I'm in college ... no but I do know what it is and it is quite disturbing.

However, it isn't against the law and if it isn't who's fault is that?? Those guys in Washington who make the legislation. You know...the people who you trust more than corporations, right? Bitch at them...not about the corps. They are in the business of making money. They wont change a thing

  • @Buergs:

You find it disturbing. Just because it is not illegal, does not mean it is moral.

After what I wrote about Obama, you think I trust politicians? We have enough problems with them in the Britain.

European politicians are still afraid of the electorate, they are corrupt, but not as blatant. American Politicians bend over for the corporatocracy and the voters take it. No health care?

You are still in college? Hope you have that revolt soon or you will only be another slave.

  • @mad8london247

If you pass HC you become a slave.

The corporatism that is in Europe is that which is in Mourice Stong's pocket, and the rockefellers. It is sad that Europe bought into the big gooberment principles spread by their Rt party and out left party.

It doesn't mean we need handouts. WHat we need is less handouts

  • @USPatsy:

Why is it when countries bring about Universal Healthcare, they do not want any other?

The politicians attempt to bring American style healthcare, but are afraid of the people.

It is political suicide for them to kowtow to corporate interest, the same way American politicians do.

We have longer lifespans than you.

Highest standard of living is in Denmark and the others follow the example.

You only have better Cancer survival rates for those who can afford it. The others die.

  • @mad8london247

Do you know who the cost driver is in america, it is the gooberment my friend, they write the cost of every procedure and then stand back and play innocent.

If you want HC that cannot cancel for conditions you simply pay for the ryder. Gooberment plans cannot cancel, they are who is screwing us.

I assume you are canadian judging by the statements, but you have always lived longer then us, we have more freedom

We are rated 1 in more catagories then any country by who, yet 37

  • @Patriot:

Yep, number one for the rat race and stabbing your fellow humans.

Yet when European migrants get sick, they run back to Europe, even with all those Soviet Tanks rolling down our streets and the Death Panels your politicians shout about.

  • And number one in charitable donations to other countries. The average american gives 300% that which the average European does. And if you think the US is broke, which it is, but compared to most European countries, certainly not. They run a deficit that is 3-500% of their GDP pushing that wonderful socialism

  • but if i had cancer i would get the best medication available and i wouldn't have to pay for it.

  • @davethemus1

So what you are saying is that you still believe that there is such a thing as a free lunch. There is not my friend, there are no money trees either:(

  • i had a serious health complaint in my early 20's, i recieved the best care available and didn't have to worry about the bill. some-ones health is priceless.

accountancy over ecomomics is your problem, you know the price of everything but the value of nothing.

  • @davethemus1

What a beautiful story, so where did the money come from? Money comes from gooberment, but without the business of the private sector behind it, it is worth only the paper it is printed on and nothing more. So why does gov choose to exalt the lessors and condemn the greater minds to insufferable tax burden? Its simple, though the greatest minds create the most wealth, the lessor minds comprise more votes

  • only in america could you find such selfishness, if i make more i pay more, it's only fair. the last thing the 'greatest' among us have done is create this global melt-down. you're country is on it's way out because of the 'greatest', good sir. free market when the profits are rolling in, $700 billion bailout when it's not.

  • @davethemus1

And only in america do you find such a great standard of living for the rich and poor alike. The country is on its way down because of obscene tax burden you idiot. We have the second highest corp tax rate in the world, hence the reason many jobs are outsourced. The gooberment keeps growing, and keeps bleeding the economy dry. But were not on the "way down" by any means. We are still the leading economy in the world buddy

  • the richest country in the world and you still can't afford the poorest amongst you healthcare. here's an idea, why don't you stop being the world police and setting fire to other peoples counties and that might save you some money.

  • @davethemus1

We should probably explain that to the dems, after all it was under their leadership that we entered every war of the 20th century, and bombed Iraq, Lybia and are still in Kosovo under Clinton.

While you're at it, you might want to explain that to most of Europe, and tell them how German is their new language. After you explain that, you might want to tell every country that runs a counter measure missile system that sorry that was developed by Israel. Handouts, no thanks

  • i'm thinking more of the quagmire that iraq and afghanistan circa 21st century. why would most of europe be speaking german, prey tell. the americans did there bit, eventually. the russians lost 20 to every allied soldier.

  • @davethemus1

The russians never extended very far south, most of the allied forces were too nervous of Kremlin occupation, i'm sure you aware of this though. The Americans won the war, anything short of this is intellectual dishonesty, they also defeated the russians in the cold war.

As for the "quagmire" silly lib talking point, lets see less deaths in Iraq and Afg in 8 yrs then 1 yr on the highway in the US, a dem gov formed, and one being protected. Too bad now we have an LBJ in office

  • what about the 1 million dead iraqis, and scores of thousands of dead afghans, as confirmed by the lancet and the john hopkins university. or is there blood not that important.

over 1 million people dead is a bit more than a "silly lib talking point" don't you think? can't yoiu find it in your christian heart to concede that?

  • @davethemus1

Look it up, reliable sources put deaths in Iraq under 100k since our involvement. This is ignorance beyond ignorance dave, cite the source or grow up

  • There are plenty of wealthy individuals with lesser minds, sir. And plenty of wealthy individuals who consume far more than they create. Learn how to think. Please.

  • @wtfdoihavetodohere

Who in the private sector consumes more then they create?

Plenty do have lessor minds, these are usually referred to as trust fund babies. But even if they are not at all productive, they inject money into the economy by burning through their trust fund

  • @mad8london247

in HC, come on can you not smell a biased? or are you really that much of a partisan quack?

  • @mad8london247

Ha, better yet you are a UK. How has the global warming crowd been screwing you lately?

You do realize that the euro was created under the same partisian junkies that are trying to push GW here, the left, in your case the right. Hence the reason the left is considered the transgender party here.

  • You're one of those who believe in the 35,000 climate deniers? Alongside luminaries such as Donald Duck and Mickey Mouse?

The E.U. is imperfect and the Euro could have been a good thing, but derailed sabotaged by corporatocracy, desiring a most Kapitalist agenda. Much like your American corporate communists.

  • TrueUSAPatriots is a right wing troll, just look at their channel. Their whole youtube user account is established to rant their right wing "Values".

Not worth attempting to reason with.

  • @fret2424:

    Lol...Thank you.

    Interesting comments from your side.

  • And that depends on what cancers you are talking about.

The cancers that do get cured are ones that are detected early with the massively expensive MRI machines. And many of these would be fairly benign growths that would not have been fatal anyway.

  • Life expectancy rates is a measure of life style choices not health care. The U.S has the best trained doctors in the world.

  • @Ryandoc:

The E.U. on it's own constitute 500 million people all with a higher lifespan than the U.S. citizens, because of health care, not "lifestyle choices".

The stress of worrying whether they become bankrupt due to illness is not in our psyche.

  • You are a slave to taxes... And your government has one of the worst records for liberty.

  • @Ryandoc:

The supposed goldenage Americans hanker for was during the time the wealthiest paid the highest taxes. 70-90%.

The American government, built roads, dams and only one breadwinner in the family was needed.

Unfortunately, European politicians are copying present American policies.

The people are waking up to the American nightmare scenario.

  • Dead peasant insurance, that's where the employer has insurance policies on all its employees, right down to the janitor, and if any die, the employer gets a big payout, and the dependents of the unfortunate employer get nothing?

  • Take a look around, particularly in the South and the Rust Belt.

Look at New Orleans or in the inner cities.

There are VAST parts of America that ARE third world.

the top 400 families in the US own as much as the bottom 57%. Just the top 400 families. All of these are billionaires.

  • Nazi Germany? Modern Germany are far more liberal than Nazi Germany. Most of Europe are more liberal. They all have universal healthcare. They all pay FAR less for healthcare, and have FAR BETTER OUTCOMES.

Tell me, are you tired of being wrong? Or do you enjoy it?

  • Canada or Bust! I'm packing my bags and I'm moving to Toronto.

  • I have always been against the public option...but I am seriously disappointed in Washington. They have failed to reform the system it seems. What about, tort reform? removing anti-trust exemption from insurance companies? interstate competition? and...does this bill do anything to improve preventative care?

Fuck this shit. I'm sick of these sell out whores! criminals....

  • Tort reform LOL. Tort lawyers are the only people protecting ordinary Americans. All the estimates I have seem place the cost of litigation at 1% of total health care spending.

  • sooo do you have any ideas on how to lower health CARE costs?? from what I understand nothing in this bill attempts to lower health care costs.

this is a bull shit bill

  • @Buergs323 ,damn fucking near know how to fix this shit, we need a fucking war. against this fucking system.

  • Sooo fucking stupid, LOL. A public option would have driven costs down, as well as allowing suppliers from Canada and Europe to sell us our own drugs. Creating a new statutory tort that penalized doctors for unecessary tests designed to generate revenue would really cut costs.

  • haha A public option would have lowered health INSURANCE you dumbshit. and please explain how a govt option would allow suppliers from canada and europe to sell their our drugs?

I'm talking about health CARE costs. There is a clear difference between the two

  • 30% of the money goes for overhead. Much of that money is spent denying coverage forcing people into bankruptcy and transferring real costs to emergency rooms. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see who the dumbshit is. Unfortunately your base buys your bullshit because they are the dumbest generation of Americans in history. You can't see how eliminating 30% of overhead could reduce overall costs, or you are a corporate shill. I respect corrupt over dumb, which are you?

  • 30%? Where you get these numbers? I'm seriously curious.

"Much of that money is spent denying coverage forcing people into bankruptcy and transferring real costs to emergency rooms"

Yes, That's what reform is for, right? We regulate where they are putting the customers money. There is no denying insurance companies need to get their act together.

Yet, you don't explain how underpaying doctors and hospitals with a pubic option would make things better and easier for the patient and doctors...

  • I agree. There is not much in the bill that actually lowers healthcare costs.

What they should have done, is taken the healthcare legislation for ANY nation that has universal healthcare, taken the legislation, copied and pasted it. Then put it on the Senate floor and vote for it.

  • And a lot of that litigation is because so many health providers are REFUSING TO COVER PEOPLE.

  • America! Fuck yeah!! We're gonna take all your money and blow it on war, yeah!!

  • the funny thing is they money they spend on war the private manufacturers such as Lockheed and Haliburton profit big time from it

  • ... the contractors have ABSOLUTELY NO INTEREST in ending the war. Especially Halliburton, KBR and Xe (formerly Blackwater).

  • thats the point i was trying to make thats why we havent privatised the military because we'd be at war even more than we are for profit. that's also why the idea of privatised health care is bad the health insurance companies see you as a liability when you actually need coverage where as a government actually needs its citizens alive.

  • Interesting point. Everybody has been comparing health care to the US post office, but the military comparison is very fitting.

If the government can't do anything right, why do we have a government run military? We've already read about the shortfalls of Blackwater, Hallabuton, etc. and extremely high expense of these for-profit "Security" companies.

Yet, we're placing the health of the entire nation on the same type of "For-Profit" business model.

    I'm just saying.........

  • @fret2424 that's what I find so funny about the "gov't can't do anything right" line, the same people who say we can't run healthcare are also the same people who say we can set up a democracy in a war torn country, there's something ironic about senators talking about the ill's of gov't.

  • The first time I noticed that hypocrisy was when I was watching a very detailed account of the Bernie Madoff scam on Frontline.

Al these wealthy people making money hand over fist wanted to know "How counld the government let this happen". Mean while they vote for, and fund representatives who fight ANY and ALL regulation.

What I took away from that documentary was:

"The government needs to stay out of EVERYTHING, while protecting us from EVERYTHING"!

  • @fret2424 that reminds me of a Hannity segment when he was blasting Obama for letting the AIG ceo's get bonuses, then day's later when Obama proposed a cut on all pay that was tax funded, Hannity now called it a power grab and big gov't out of control.

  • So essentially we would be in a better state had we done nothing to begin with. All the time and effort that's gone into healthcare could have been put towards the obvious issue of this country, the economy.

  • Strong healthcare reform would have helped with the economy...man, Americans sure know how to screw each other over.

  • Fixing the economy is the underlying issue at hand. "Strong health care reform" doesn't mean squat if there's no money to pay for it. All boats benefit from the rising tide.

  • I am so fucking sick of you morons and your "Rising tide raises all ships" bullshit. How high has the ships of the middle class risen in the last 40 years? I am even more sick of the "Its not a zero sum game" bullshit as the rich squeeze productivity from the poor but do not increase wages.

  • I can see you're frustrated but if you sit and think logically and reasonably instead of reacting on emotion you might get somewhere. Nowadays we see dishwashers, microwaves, central HVAC, video cameras, and even computers as common items, 40 years ago these were "luxuries". The average size house has increased in this time. Twice as many people are traveling overseas. Working, living and raising a family in the middle class is hard, but that doesn't mean you panic and run to big government.

  • Logical and reasonable. Lets see, I am a fucking lawyer with an engineering degree and a genius IQ. Making myself more logical would indeed be a trick.

  • For someone who's so self proclaimed, you've sure set the bar high by contributing to society with "genius" youtube comments. Have you tried getting them published or peer reviewed? Perhaps you can't hack it in the real world. Happy chatting!

  • It always seems that those who are concerned about socialism and the attack on free enterprise have this strange delusion that everyone is on the same level. Those 'luxuries' you talk about are now mass produced and cheaper, hence why it is easier to own them...and some people are still too poor to own them! It's no 'running to big government' it's having an option between public insurance or private insurance...where's the issue?

  • ohhh you have no idea do you??

  • Great rebuttal...
