Quite a different effort from their previous club hits, this time more in the Eurovision style, but still catchy and effective. Just incredible they only got 8th place in the Contest...deserved a top three placement

Nothing wrong with the tune but the cheesy choreography was the worst. This is actually one of my favourite songs from that year's Eurovision. Typical late 70's Silver Convention and other Europop from that time.

I've always loved the SC. Great tune and gd moves considering it was the 70's. I can't believe it didn't achieve no.1 that yr. But were they lipsynching? The sound did resemble live performance at times with little imperfections here and there but Penny Mclean was so far away from the mike. That was a signature sign of lipsyching. Don't know what to think.

I can. Nearly every year, there is at least one song that doesn't do nearly as well as it should. I really like this song- it should have made the Top 5 at least. Spain and Finland were also criminally underrated in 1977.

Agree completely about this one, although Spain and Finland were kind of funny :-) I don't know why it did so badly, the staging is wonderful and the vocals are superb. Silver Convention are really like the european Three Degrees, and I mean that as a compliment!

When I listen to Telegram by The Silver Convention I am right back in 1977. Thirty years later this song is just as amazing as it was back then. Ireland should have won the ESC in 1977, but Telegram should have been right behind. As a Norwegian I am puzzled by this: Norway did give Ireland 12 points, but didn't give Germany a single point. Still mad about the war? Probably.

WoW! What a sweet song and what a sweet performance. Reminds me of Las Vegas. They won a Grammy for "Fly Robin Fly". They deserved to win the ESC in 1977.

The rules were changed in 1977 to say that every song must be sung in a native language of the country, but by the time they made the rule Germany and Belgium had already chosen English language songs and they had no German/Flemish lyrics available, so they were allowed to sing in English.
