What? Let me say first. Great footage. WTH are you guys talking about. A students lack of ability to read has nothing to do with any HBCU. Level of talent is determined mainly by two things. The directors that instruct them and the students will to practice. The guide someone spoke of is called their high school or middle school band director. Replicating the style of their favorite program has nothing to do with what should be taught in band class and what they do when they practice at home.
dang reading these comments I sometimes wonder if you SWAC people actually listen to MEAC bands or just listen to all the other dumb niggas opinions and repeat it. Cause it seems extremely rare to find a SWAC person with an original opinion. Can none of y'all analyze a band or a section past volume. Tone articulation, blend and balance. Stuff like that those are still elements of a band/section. Then y'all wonder why MEAC people think y'all aint real musicians smh.
@7thSwell its really sad but i think we (collegiate bands are part of the problem becasue they see what we do and try mimic that)they should have some one to guide them abouthow to play with intensity and what it is.but every college isn't setting a good example of musicianship.then we wonder why we get these kids that cant read music or do anything but blow trying to audition to get in our programs.

@asu05tbone first off we dont play soft. second its a little concept called CONTROL its when you know when to and not to over blow which is the swacs number one problem. Third if we aren't "entertaining" as you say at least our crowds get what songs we play unlike yall with your horrid tones and bad articulation and missed pitches. (Note im not saying all swac players sound like that just a lot do)

@7thSwell its not that swac bands dont have control.its that we play with and emphasize intensity.something most meac bands dont have.yes meac bands with control.but its not intertaing all the time. you should be able to play and control the level of intensity you play with without sacrificing musical fundamentals-tone, articulation, balance, and intonation.this is what we have recently been striving for in "THE OCEAN".cleaner, more controled sound with same intensty.

Sir, you can watch the other clip and plainly see that Cookman's Trumpets are louder and cleaner. They sound a heck of a lot better and I don't think that's disputable at all.
well I beg to differ, when you watch both clips this is actually a better angle due to the other one was right under Southern and that would give Southern the win but by this one being in a neutral seating area you have to be realistic and give it to Southern. Just like everybody else is saying

I, just like StateTrooper and other Jukes, sat by BCC...so, we know the deal. The whole night Bcc was not "battle" ready...and, it was clear they're used to the meac way..and, not war time with horns like the SWAC...lol.
Sorry southern fans but I stood by SU when this battle took place and though both sections sounded good, BCC took the cake on that battle. And they punk azz tbones didnt even stand a chance. They sent the btones on them and they still got cranked on. BphiC for life(Bone Crushers@BCC, best tbone section in the world. Better believe it.
