If you really wanna even out the playing field you'd give the GTO a diet and do some poking and stroking to bring the Mustang up to a 6.0. That is why Mustang Cobras came with superchargers. Ford uses FI small cube motors where as GM uses NA big cube motors. It's how they balance the difference in cubic inches.

the stock gto has a little more hpower than the stock cobra ; yea you add a supercharger or turbo to the gto means a fair amount of hpower difference ; this makes a difference . take a cobra & add 100 or 150 shot of nos . see what happens ! hpower to hpower & the weight is only 150 to 200 lbs.

i worked at whipple superchargers for 3 year and i heard that fact from ed badilo, the programer/tuner from ford racing, who is also the tuner for our dyablosport tuner. that's a pretty good source if you ask me.

what do you have for mods on the Cobra now??? BTW 03 Termi Curb weight is 3665 Coupe and 3780 Vert i believe. Not 3900 Just to clear that Up. New GT500 is 3920lbs Tho.

Cobra guy definitely needs an IRS brace, subframe connectors, stiffer IRS bushings and some tires. That hop is pretty bad, be careful powering through it like that unless you have an IRS brace, I just saw a cobra on the forums that snapped his differential right off. You need a little practice driving too, I would've like to seen some cleaner runs. From a dig preferably.
lol i need practice thats great,there is no practice that can make a stock irs cobra not wheel hop on bald stock tires.The car now has a 3.4 crusher whipple,solid axle,built motor,ported heads,cams,and a lentech 4r70w.Ive owned half a dozen single digit cars and been racing for over a decade,dont need practice.

The Cobra is no slouch. I also have a maggied 06 GTO and I recently raced a Cobra from a dig and it was very close to about 75mph where I pulled on him pretty hard. The nice thing about Cobras are the forged internals....which the LS2 does not have. I am running 8PSI and that is as much as I am comfortable with. Any more than that, and you are flirting with disaster. 20PSI is sick!
alk all you want about my 100% daily drive full wieght 10.0 at 140mph cobra,that still passes smog and can drive cross country in.I do believe the gto magi kit is 7psi,the ones i have tuned have been 7psi.

Your cobra doesn't sound ported, but maybe its the video. What are you putting down? If your car still has the stock heat exchanger, you're just feeding the heaton monster. After a hard pull, it'll be heat soaked and you're not going to run nearly as well.

the cobra was at 11 psi untuned while the 10 to 1 gto was 7 psi and tuned making over 500whp.Now my cobra is at 20psi with the whipple and makes 700whp.And is 100% daily driven.

the stock gto has a little more hpower than the stock cobra ; yea you add a supercharger or turbo to the gto means a fair amount of hpower difference ; this makes a difference . take a cobra & add 100 or 150 shot of nos . see what happens ! hpower to hpower & the weight is only 150 to 200 lbs.

I own a 05 gto>pullyed cobras are not slow like that it dosent look like a fair race the cobras at 10 psi whats the goat at? that cobras 500 pounds lighter but still it doesnt look like the cobra comes anywhere near the gtos horsepower i would like to have seen the race from a stop i bet the cobra can take it off the line wider tires and a lighter car i know that gtos has a had time hooking off the line stock

Your right the modded goat beat a pretty much stock cobra.i know my cobra went faster on a stock motor then his goat,i went 10.0 at 140 and he is in the 11s,i just recently ran him again and put a huge whoopin on him,so much so he let off ealry as there was now way he was going to catch my 140 plus trap speed..

Well the lead programmer for whipple built all the tunes for the whipple kits for ford,he is in tight with ford so ya i think they know whats going on.Ford sells a whipple kit with a programmer with this mans tune loaded into it,hmm go figure.

what do you have for mods on the Cobra now??? BTW 03 Termi Curb weight is 3665 Coupe and 3780 Vert i believe. Not 3900 Just to clear that Up. New GT500 is 3920lbs Tho.

Yep. I own a mineral grey coupe and it's 3660 lbs.
Cobra guy definitely needs an IRS brace, subframe connectors, stiffer IRS bushings and some tires. That hop is pretty bad, be careful powering through it like that unless you have an IRS brace, I just saw a cobra on the forums that snapped his differential right off. You need a little practice driving too, I would've like to seen some cleaner runs. From a dig preferably.

well that last part really depends on your definition of "no ford motor" because if you mean no 4.6L 281ci motor can touch a 5.7L 346ci then you're probably right but trying something w/ similiar cubes I'm sure the story would be much different which GM guys so frequently over look.

The Cobra is no slouch. I also have a maggied 06 GTO and I recently raced a Cobra from a dig and it was very close to about 75mph where I pulled on him pretty hard. The nice thing about Cobras are the forged internals....which the LS2 does not have. I am running 8PSI and that is as much as I am comfortable with. Any more than that, and you are flirting with disaster. 20PSI is sick!

Your cobra doesn't sound ported, but maybe its the video. What are you putting down? If your car still has the stock heat exchanger, you're just feeding the heaton monster. After a hard pull, it'll be heat soaked and you're not going to run nearly as well.

Also the cobra runs more boost because its a 8.5 to 1 blower motor,not a 10 to 1 n/a 6.0 that got a blower put on it.
the cobra was at 11 psi untuned while the 10 to 1 gto was 7 psi and tuned making over 500whp.Now my cobra is at 20psi with the whipple and makes 700whp.And is 100% daily driven.

He didnt have wheel hop issues as i did.You can hear the cobra wheel hop horribly.Also the mild cobra held off the blown 500whp goat till 120 or so.I also raced another blown goat after my tune and tires and it was a different outcome.CObra walked it pretty bad.And again he is scared to run my cobra again.
