Thank you for singing this the way its suppose to be sung....So, many others have to think that there version is how it is suppose to be sung. If it was originally written that way then thats fine, but adding to a traditional piece of great music spoils it.

Thomas Quasthoff has the most beautiful voice of any bass baritone I have ever heard.

I am sure that he will go down in history as one of the greatest bass baritones of all time.

It's even better when he does it in person. I have been very priveledged to have hear a slightly different version he did in recital, complete with some great improvisation. He sang a run that went throughout his entire (huge) range, and brought the whole house down with his vocal presence and artistic integrity. A true artist. Thanks for the post!
