Okay to everyone claiming Rufus is gonna be broken, he isnt going to be S tier, he was always a solid character but in AE he was WAY overshadowed by the top tier. His EX GT change isnt BROKEN its a stupid buff that just makes it so that if you have 3 meter you can punish something -4 or make a good read and catch a focus attack. THEY shouldve made it so that EX messiah didnt wiff or crouching opponents, its stupid you get PUNISHED for PUNISHING ?
@HaikuWar The Target thing is nice and I will admit it makes him WAY better then before, also his U2 isnt broken, LEARN NOT TO JUMP KIDDIES, if you jump you would eat 200+ from a a Snakestrike following a air to air Roundhouse so U2 doing half hits isnt broken. ALSO if it catches you on the ground that just means you did something stupid. Lastly the Forward ( Medium kick ) messiah with short follow up is gonna be good, looks like Rufus in 2012 isnt going to have as many bad match ups.
@HaikuWar U1 is equally effective as U2 as a AA in most situations. The spacing on that is almost similar to landing a anti-air ex SS. What I have noticed after experimenting more with Rufus's ex GT fadc is the amount of stun damage a non ultra combo involving ex GT fadc combo does. After the soft knockdown, you still have ample time for a dive kick mixup against a opponent on wakeup, which usually results in a stun if you are successful with making contact on that wakeup. Nasty stuff.
im not a rufus user, but i really like the adjustment on u2 ! the damage now is honest on airborne . I like less the buff on u1 setups...too much damage from hitconfirming :P they should have nerfed the over all damage scaling : lp,ex tornado->FADC->targetCmb->u1 CANT do 600 dgm ... come one ! it should have been 450-500 , let's be be honest ^_^ it's 3bar mid screen combo from hit confirming ! what's the reason in dealing so much damage ?? it's not very fair in the overall balance.Nerf damage!!
@T0R0RIKI You are spot on about U2, this should have been what U2 was in Super. U2 AA in Super was insane, just as Abel's U2 was, and they both got nerfed real bad in AE. I fill that capcom got it right this time for U2. As for U1 doing 600 damage, the combo I showed started with a nj.hk, this hardest hitting normal (110). c.lp ex GT fadc TC U1 does about 420+, not 600, and is more pratical/achievable. Also, the 601 damage mid screen combo is only applicable to Claw, Gief and Boxer.
oh dear these changes are gonna make me hate the rufus match even more with gen. still i am glad both characters got buffs. i know my buddy yanu going to love these changes.

also I can never land mid screen ultra against boxer.. it's supposed to be possible on gief and vega too right? any tips on landing it?
@auron570 Rufus threat level has gone up a level when he has 3 ex stocks and an Ultra. In the past, opponents had to be just weary of ex messiah. This buff just makes him scarier; akin to the Dictator's Ultra threat punish against ex messiah. It reduces your opponent's options. As for mid-screen ultra, I hold forward during heavy GT, release and return stick to neutral by letting go of the stick right at the end, and inputting qcf x 2 + PPP. I double tab the PPP. Hope that helps.
@Raffael900me AFAIK only lk follow would connect cleanly with light, heavy and ex version of messiah kick. Opponents can block the lk follow up even if the initial bit made contact. Only time to I have used mk or hk messiah would be to get over projectiles as demonstrated, and I am pretty sure, mk version had issues.
