  • Great Video !

  • whats up with that thing?

  • THAT THING IS HILARIOUS!!

  • holy flying eegbeater batman!

  • the first ultralight i ever owned was an original Chotia weedhopper, it was a fun, gentle flying little airplane.

  • LOVED IT....

  • were you flying and landing in a cross wind?..if so..how much was it blowing?..jsut curious..would love to learn to fly.

  • @brofun There was a light wind 3 to 5 mph that day as you can see the dust on take off and landing blowing the dust The Weedhopper does not do real well with a lot of cross wind but since it takes so little space to land I can usually find a way to avoid the cross wind and land into the wind.

The Weedhopper is a very easy plane to learn to fly and easy to build. Check out yahoo.com/group/weedhopper/

  • If the stall speed is 24 mph. What is the climb speed and cruise? Hope its not a Curtis Jenny situation. Cruise on Jenny was 55. Stall 45.. Yes, many of them stalled and crunched..

  • @michaelpilot1000

Climb with this engine is 300 to 400 fpm at WOT. Cruise is around 42 - 45 mph. It is a really fun and easy plane to fly.

  • I grew up near a crop duster's operation and have been fascinated by airplanes as far back as I can remember. This might be the answer to my dreams of flying. I just want go fly around my farm in East Texas at a slow speed, and on a retiree's budget.

  • nice flying !!

  • That's really a slow aircraft, for sensations like in the very first years of aviation, much more reliable and easy to fly though. Nice!

  • Tell me that's not a Pipe or stick coming out of the ground next to your touchdown at 4:35 ... Looks like it would hurt.

  • Gary, The Weedhopper is a rugged, easy to build and fly ultralight. The stall speed on my plane is about 24 mph.

The engine is a 2 cyl 37 HP 1/2 VW built by Scott Casler of Hummel Engines.

  • @raidkills is a pilot's license required to fly one of these?

  • @mizonkey007 No - US FAR103 does not require a pilots license.

  • Lovely and quite strange little aircraft :) Must be fun to fly! but as I see it needs quite a big angle of attack. What is the stall speed of it? Fly a lot and land safely! Oh yes, and the engine sounds very nice :) A four cylinder boxer? What type is it? Greetings from Gary (HU)
