Give me all the "thumbs down" you want, guys. It doesn't change the fact that Koblar's interpretation would drive the great composer to suicidal ideations.
i agree with you, this is the first time i've heard this piece and i couldn't make out the melody. i looked for other pianists playing it and realized she's playing too slow and her voicing is totally off. where in god's name are the feminine endings???
I think she was sensitive when she played this, but it did tend to drag a little bit. I must say though, I DO like how she treats the lines at 1:05-1:12, and how she caresses the dissonant/resolving harmony at 4:10-4:20... that was quite nice.
@fanny0820 Some parts, Brahms intended dissonance. It's not intended to sound wrong, like when there's a second played together, but rather, there's beauty in the sort of sound in this piece when notes that are generally considered not "harmonic" are played.
well...this piece is much more beautiful than that...you need a long long long line...it sounded too broken to me...and need the warmth of sound...also, voicing...
You can create that rich Brahmsian sonority through the use of pedal, how so, i thought the sonority was created through touch and a deep understanding of tone color.
tu relacion con la musica es inimaginable. gracias por darnos la oportunidad de oir algunas melodias como esta

Absolutely perfect!
There is no need to hurry in this piece.

Most people play this too fast. I like it better slow, but this is a little too slow, especially in the B section...

So right! even if she is playing this very sensitive too. I like Glenn Gould playing this, as a jazz improvisation.

i guess it will be much better if it were a bit more faster and pedal.

Her sparing use of pedal is her undoing, unfortunately. Where is that rich Brahmsian sonority, here? Not to be found...
