that music that went with the BUGS made me go crazy mad, if I saw this movie if I lived in the 70's I would have walked out the theater because shit noises like that make my head spin (and not in a good way)
I`m surprised nobody`s mentioned that she`s thinking of preparing somethiing called `chicken mousse`. UGH. The `70s were a nadir era for music, dance, fashion...and cuisine.
Did anyone else notice that she was in the kitchen IN FRONT OF A SINK! You know, that thing with a metal tube sticking out of it filled with water accessed by turning a knob. She could've just dunked herself under some running water. And what is that behind her? ANOTHER SINK!
I tell you, if that person was not acting, I'd say they deserved to die for sheer stupidity.
LOL. I remember when this movie first came out. It was wild. So many killer animal movies in the 70's: Jaws, Orca, Frogs, Tentacles, Food of the Gods, Ben, Willard, Empire of the Ants, Day of the Animals, Piranha, The Swarm. Killer animal mayhem!!! LMAO.
You named 2 of my all-time favorite movies: "Frogs" with Sam Elliot, and "Empire of the Ants" with Joan Collins.
Other top favorite movies of mine from this genre are "Squirm!" (killer worms), "Rattlers" (killer rattlesnakes) and "Prophecy" (killer man-bear creature).
@FormerTVAddict Thanks for mentioning Rattlers. That's been one of my favorites for 20 years! Joel & the Cinematic Titanic cast are currently 'riffing' that on their live tour. Hopefully; their version will eventually see a DVD release. I also saw the MST3K gang do Squirm! in one of their later seasons.
@luvindogadis411 I agree! In my opinion, "mother nature REALLY went amok or mad" during the '70s, didn't she? Who could forget Kingdom of The Spiders, Squirm, and Grizzly?
@AngelofAnguish The 70's was animal attack insanity!!! LOL!!! I also like the "giant animal" attack films from the 50's like "Them", "The Deadly Mantis", "The Giant Claw", "It Came From Beneath The Sea" and "The Giant Gila Monster". Those were something too.
Here's the story, of a lovely lady, who was only trying to make a lovely dinner,
When in her kitchen, a nasty critter,
Got in her hair and burned it up,
The buggy bunch, the buggy bunch,
Now she will not have any lunch... :)
Just kidding around, cool scene. She is lucky though, when I pick things up at my house, it isn't fire starting beetles, it tends to be brown recluse spiders. eeekkk!
The bugs are real.....if I'm not mistaken, I think that they are called Mexican Hissing Beatles. They used these bugs a few times on the show Fear Factor.
yup--that is ONE of the movies I was trying to remember from my childhood that freaked me out. I remembered some woman had a bug crawl up the back of her neck and catch her on fire. Thanks or posting!

The USA Network used to use this scene as a bumper for it's "Saturday Nightmares" show.
I remember the narrator saying "Don't let the commercials "BUG" you. We'll be right back" LOL!
Nice post! I love these cheesy classics!
