If Al Gore had a different vice president he would've had a landslide over George W Bush and we wouldn't have had all this mess we have now cause of Bush and years of dirty republicans in controll of the house and senate. Thank God it's President Obama andnot President McCain/Palin!!!!
How hawkish or corporate do you think Lieberman would have been as Gore's vp? Lieberman was totally different in 2000. Gore did pick Lieberman b/c he was a left-center democrat. So, if your trying to say that Gore picked a centrist w/o knowing it, your wrong. Lieberman has been wrong in Foreign Policy. Hence, this is where he has been a disappointment. But, he still is liberal domestically. It's so brave of you to speak w/ hindsight. Gore would have made a great president.
I didn't need hindsight in 2000 to know Lieberman wasn't representing democratic values. Not once has Lieberman found a supplemental denfese bill he didn't like.
The fact is Gore didn't make the environment an issue back in 2000 and ran on a same platform as Bush. Maybe if Gore had a backbone to take on democratic values back when he was a politician I would have more respect for him now.
Lieberman was/is still pro-choice and favors more liberal judges to the Supreme Court. Again, his FP is flawed. In 2000, both Gore & Bush were trying to move to the center b/c the country was so split down the middle. Remember when Bush wanted to refrain from nation-building & wanted to portray himself as a "compassionate conservative." Gore would not have invaded Iraq. He wasn't as adamant about the environment in 2000 as he is today, but I don't think he was pro-global warming either.

Take notes, Obama. Of course, the ultimate ticket would have been Gore: president; Obama: vice president.
