This is a brilliant performance because Michelangeli doesn't tamper with the piece - he just plays it and doesn't get in it's way. A great performance.

This is an enjoyable performance. I too prefer this tempo. I usually hear the song played a bit faster.

....Michelangeli incise solo un disco perchè la casa discografica non rispetto i pagamenti od almeno c'erano degli inganni nei pagamenti. Fu così che la casa discografica venne fatta fallire ed il Maestro Michelangeli fu ritenuto uno dei responsabili. Questo è quello che si legge nel racconto del libro "Vita con Ciro" della moglie Giuliana Guidetti. Così uno dei più grandi Pianisti abbandonò l'Italia.

Il racconto della vita di Michelangeli è veramente triste per quello che riguarda proprio la confisca dei beni, non solo il pianoforte, tra questi anche alcuni suoi immobili e proventi dei concerti. Tutto ciò fu la conseguenza di un problema con una casa discografica di Bologna con la quale Michelangeli stipulò un contratto privato che prevedeva l'incisione di 10 dischi.......

Gli pignorarono i 2 pianoforti a cui teneva più di ogni cosa oltretutto...Pendò benissimo di andarsene in Svizzera a causa del torto subito.

This piece is usually played much faster, which makes me appreciate this not rushed version a lot more, you actually hear all the details in the harmony and the dynamics. wonderful, Michelangeli is amazing

I like Michelangeli for Bach and Debussy, but this rough and mechanical compared to Gilels!!

Lui se n'è andato dall'Italia,per un ingiustizia pesante subita,ma non ricordo di preciso,in cosa sia consistita.Durante gli ultimi anni,se ai suoi concerti c'erano italiani,annullava immediatamente l'impegno.
