  • Tighten the goddamn snares a little, so it doesn't sound like a tin can!

  • Great drumming man.

Do you use felt strips on you bass tom?

  • Are those Paiste 2002's I see? I have the 16 and 18 inch crash! Amazing cymbals!! They blend quite well with my vintage Zildjian ride and hats.

  • hey bro can you send me the link to where you bought this kit. i want the tom and bass shells, but i have the 402 already, is there any website that offers the kit with out it in natural finish. please let me know

  • I couldn't tune my bass drum properly either; sounded awful. took full responsibility tho. made a man out of me. ...a blessing in disguise

  • Are you gonna name your kid john Henry to and post him on your bonham website with a fumanchu? With all your friends you don't have? Don't call me a fag bro, i play a 5 piece custom works kit so dont talk to me about my drums

  • Every single one of you uneducated fucks just needs to leave YouTube until you can actually back up your opinions. All of you dumbasses who put no tension on the heads and stuff pillows in there and crank the shit of of your snare heads and put rings on them are the ones with shitty drums. This is what a drumset should sound like, no exceptions.

  • stop buying john bonham drum kits buy your own, everyone who buys a john bonham replica is a fag

  • @ienjoyagooddrum Really...?? A fag, huh?! I'm a HUGE Bonham fan and maintain a website that's been around for years and is dedicated 100% to keeping his memory alive, Bonzo Bros. Drums.com! In addition, I also own FOUR EXACT VINTAGE REPLICAS of his most famous kits: Natural Maple, Green Sparkle, Amber Vistalite and Stainless Steel that have taken me years to collect exactly as John played his. And you are calling me a FAG?! Tell us all about YOUR drum collection so that we can see who's a FAG...

  • @ienjoyagooddrum Why is anyone who gets their hands on a Bonham replica a fag? If I want his sound, then why not get the setup he used? It makes perfect sense. You are clearly an uneducated faggot.

  • Those drums sound like shit

  • You need to ignore the negative comments on this video and buy the book realistic rock"" it's by Carmine Appice and it has all the beats and fills you could dream for a classic rock drummer!!! Turned my hopeless brother into Simon Kirk!!! be sure to check it out. it's on Amazon and has three DVD's that come with it!

  • i didnt know Adam Sandler plays drums?

  • @XxMADrummerxX He actually does in real life

  • I remember when I started too.

  • This guy is really good with a real great feel for the kit and sound, don't hate on him guys! :)

  • you suck.

  • How much did that set cost? It's beautiful...

  • Very nice sound man!

  • is that the maple stain color?

  • I would love to jam with you man, nicely done

  • Actually folks, this is very Bonham ish. This style is raw and not extremely flashy. He is more or less just grooving well and beating the shit out of the drums. THat IS Bonzo style. Travis parker ish ness is nowhere near a bonzo style. Two distinct sounds. I out of everyone knows what a Bonzo sound is. My grandfather was best friend with John Henry Bonham. I have a spare kit he used on the Physical Graffiti album. These drums sound very much Bonzo ish. Good job man. Keep it up.

  • @JustinPierce1226 Not only do I agree with you, I also envy you. I'm officially making it my mission to find you and take your Bonzo kit ;). You have been warned :P lol

  • Young Richard Dreyfuss.

  • Love the spirit!!! Keep playing....play with other musicians as well and you'll get even better!

    Best...

  • Is this from the new Adam Sandler film where he attempts to play drums?

  • I just laugh at the negative comments...........could you reach over there in the microwave. I think my burritos done. Thanks~ GREAT DRUMMING!

  • you need too buy a metronome !

  • dude tune your kit it's too nice to sound like that

  • Ludwig wide open! Love it!

    Damn the detractors!

    Paiste! Fantastic sound brother!

To all the negative comments-it's just the mics, mic placement, and the room. That simple. It ain't the drums.

    Rock!

  • PLEASE. TUNE THE FUCKING BASSDRUM AND PUT A RUG OR WHAT THE HELL EVER IN IT.

  • @ConcretePie

Why? It still sounds like a bass drum! This is actually how a bass drum should sound, not that god awful slappy dull thud what most people shoot for. Yeah, lets fill a bass drum full of laundry or other materials that do not belong there. Smart move!

  • @drumzac

Jesus, don't tell me you like that overtones. They are fugly. And it sounds like a 30" floor tom, it does NOT sound like a bassdrum.

  • @ConcretePie You're actually so dumb. If you play the drums, quit, because you're just a naive piece of shit.

  • @drumzac great comment. by doing that drummers are killing the drum.

  • @ConcretePie You are an uneducated faggot that needs to get the fuck off of this site.

  • @XxStrongDrums1996xX calm down kid. like you are more "educated", at the age of 14? calm down 96kid. meanwhile I'm not being a homosexual at all.

  • @ConcretePie If you can't tell that the bass drum is properly tuned, then you have no idea what the heck you are talking about.

  • nice kit

    thats all

  • I know your problem: your're afraid of tightening your snare head. Don't be, it has to be tight to sound good. Otherwise, you only get the fad sound every beginner want.

Also, your playing isn't tight. You should increase your drumming level before posting your vids. There is absolutely no licks that come from Bonzo.

    Sorry man, keep it up!

  • How could a Ludwig sound so weird ???????? It's like a kitchen kit.

  • Is it badly tuned and/or badly played?

What makes the bonzo sound is not only the equipment, but the discipline of tight and levelled sounds, throughout every single beat. As a matter of fact, some people will get a better ´bonzo´ feel and pressure out of a Pearl Export, just with the right approach.

Sorry mate, I´m a bit jealous of your gear, so I have to be over-the-top honest. Take this wich a pinch of salt!

    :)

  • Wow! you play great. I love metal, but steady beats like what you were playing sound awsome and clean!

  • i think the bass needs more muffling to get the bonham tone

  • It sounds like you have a coated ambassador on the bottom of your snare. I realized that most people say that he used ambassador as his resonants but it differs from his snare. The top you've got right but he sometimes used a diplomat on the snare side but most of the time a clear ambassador. Now all you need is his cowbell and his 38" symphonic gong! Love to see a good Bonham fan. Rock on man!

  • Very very nice stuff, my dream gear's here!!!

    Good plaing too!!

  • Your band music also is very nice, nice sound on it :)

  • There is a video called Supraphonic B/O 1979 or 80 by someone called

drumnut 2345. That is really close to the Bonzo sound. You should ask

him about the tunings. Also a snare side head is not a batter head.

It is really thin (almost like paper) and never coated. keeps the snare

from sounding like a tin can.

  • uhh if your living the led zep dream y do u have on a jimi hendrix shirt?

  • steep tom angle.

  • the tuning sounds just like it but your playing needs work . good job tho!

  • Your a good drummer but how does this sound like Bonzo? It sounds NOTHING like his drumming.

  • @POLITICTRUTH I didn't mean to mislead people to say that I'm the next Bonzo. Simply John Bonham has been a very big influence on me through out my entire life. Out of all rock bands, I prefer the drum tone of his entire set up over any other drummer, which is what Led me to go with the same kit. I'm not trying to be John Bonham, there can only be one of them. But instead I'd like to think of him as an inspiration and a role model who opened up many doors for a successful musical future.

  • @KPhil9085908890 ok gotcha. i wasnt tryin to be a dick but im the biggest bonzo fan in the world and to me it just doesnt sound like his style.

  • @POLITICTRUTH Various parts of this video are pretty Bonham-esque. Other parts are not. If i couldn't see the video and only heard the audio, i would hazard a guess that bonham is a major influence on this guy.

  • Are you fucking serious? COATED AMBASSADOR snare side head? Who in the hell told you to do that? A snare side head usually half the size of a regular drum head and they are always clear!!!

  • snare's too loose for me but not bad man! i think its just personal preference but try putting the crown at the top of the snare stand some time

  • Why the angle of the tomtom?

  • Nice Zep style solo on Ludwigs! A friend of mine in a band is sending me a signed 20 inch Ludwig Bass Drumhead UNUSED! If you want to send one, email me.Thanks!Brainy,Brainman Media

  • a little bit to lose snare for my taste

  • @KedmenecMartin I agree with you Martin.I followed the Jeff Ocheltree video where he said that Bonham used all coated ambassador heads on the resonant side of the drums, but I don't think he meant the snare! So I'm thinking about putting a clear head back on the snare, because the snares just don't ring enough, which makes them sound real loose. But I do love the tone of the drum, it just needs more snare.I was also thinking about using a fatter snare strand, but I'm not sure if that will fix it

  • @KPhil9085908890 Actually, Ocheltree said that Bonzo used clear diplomats on his resonant snare.

  • @grajdrums I must have missed that. I'll be putting a nice clear diplomat on the resonant side, because I can't take the unsnarish sound that the coated head is giving me! :-)

  • @KPhil9085908890

it sounds more like a small tom than a snare... :D

  • @grajdrums i have the dvd and it said "Sometimes a clear diplomat"

  • @Homesikhalo Since when Ocheltree's 'It'?:D Anyway, I just watched the vid and yes, he said sometimes, it's just that I didn't remember it at the time I wrote the comment.

  • @Homesikhalo Yup, here's his exact quote. "Always an Emperor coated on the batter side, sometimes a diplomat on the snare side, but most of the time an ambassador."

I guess he meant a clear ambassador, and not a coated one which is what I used! :-)

  • @KPhil9085908890

jeah,I also watched the Jeff Ocheltree video,it's awesome

  • Nice Solo! 2002s sound SWEET! Are they the Mediums? The Maples sound great too but man that Bass Drum is ringy. Bonzo sometimes used felt strips to deaden his kick up a bit.

  • @BONHZEPPELIN Yea, the cymbals are the 2002's mediums. They have very rich and dark tone to them.

I will try the felt strip trick. The bass drum is ringy because I replaced the Ludwig resonant bass drum head with a Remo coated ambassador. The Ludwig head was very similar to a Remo powerstroke, where it had plastic around the perimeter of the head, which made the bass drum pretty dead. I'd rather have it ringy than dead!

  • Cymbals sound perfect! Wish I had a set like that

  • Well done solo! I thoroughly enjoyed it! :-)
