can you help me whit my essay for this plz rita at the moment likes reading airport fiction but after how does her attitude towards airport fiction change?
I was once "Rita", and now I am an English language and literature professor. I'm done with my academic units for an Master's degree in Language and Literature, and has finished my Master's Degree in Teaching the English Language at De la Salle University-Manila. Am still very much interested in having a PHD in Applied Linguistics.
I've seen this film before when I went back to college at the age of 36, for a Bachelor's degree major in English. Touching film for me coz it's my story.
@theotherantigone I'm the same. Did the Access Course last year and started University last September, reading English for a batchelor's degree at the age of 37.
I used to see this film as a bit of dramatic comedy when I was younger, but now it touches so many nerves that it brings a lump to the throat or tears to the eyes. There is nothing better in this world than education - especially of those with a humble background; from the working classes or the adult who realises his/her potential.
I can really relate to this film as I also rised from 'lower class' to middle and worked hard at it whilst trying to find myself, I was also seen as a joke by many similar to Rita. It makes me laugh when she says 'I was at a house once where they served chocolate mints with their coffee' XD I can imagine myself bursting out with something like that lol. Thank you for uploading this.
The bit you're doing for your audition is probably from the original stage version, which may not be included in the film version. The film version is different and has a different script - for example, the stage version is set entirely in Frank's office.
I'm an English teacher who worked for a dozen years in a community theatre. We did this play during two different seasons. The more I see it and read it, the better it gets. Me students like it too, y' know, cuz it's dead good!
Thank you for putting this up. I have to do an essay discussing my reaction to the film version and my notes made no sense at all! This helps so much.
ummm.. isn't she only taking one course??

somebody emailed me from here and said - because of this fim - that white people cannot help being nerdy!
Well if it wasn't for white people being nerdy - what would he enjoy in this world? Mud hut making like his ancestors
