  • wtf i h8 this it takes too long to start and no sick beat

  • @DeStonerKid This is one of the greatest verses in hip hop history, and the beat has been sampled and used in alot of other songs.

  • Love this tune, true rap

  • lil wayne copied this shit

  • tyga "rack city (remix)" watch now....NOOOT

  • Whats funny is that SO MANY hip hop beats have been sampled from this song.

  • This is rap!

  • background tune sounds like 2Pac used that in Hit Em Up

  • @beanzntoast it is....This is actually a sample itself....forgot the name though

  • @beanzntoast Intro used in 50cents the Candy Shop too.

  • @Damnbabeeyourhot so it is bruv, theres about 15 songs worth of shit in there blud...peace

  • @beanzntoast not exaclty

  • I wake up to this shit.

  • when this comes on at the club. I be clowning

  • That man you see at 2:07 is a real DJ btw, and I don't mean a DJ that pushes a button to play songs on a radio or the guy at the booth at your club with his Ipod and laptop and pretend turntables. That is a real DJ featured in this video mixing real vinyl records to create the mixed track you are hearing in this video. It's not just about Rakim rapping it's about the DJ showing his skills.

  • @Damnbabeeyourhot yea just listen to the track the DJ (Eric B) did on the track chinese arithmetic on the paid in full album

  • What some of you kids are experiencing for the first time while listening to this track is hearing a DJ actually mixing records over a beat. Durring the early 80's DJ's and rappers went hand in hand. DJ's were the original Hiphop producers. Songs such as Rakim's paid in full feature Rakims styled lyrics over a DJ Mix. It's a blend of Urban lyrics over Urban sound. Of course much today this style has all but died thanks to the commercialism of hiphop. The DJ's only spin records in the club now.

  • Back in the day, I had to pay to watch this video. Ah, the PCP days, I so miss!

  • Which Ofra Haza song did they sample!?

  • ignore the video responses. they have no clue what hip hop is about

  • @Priscilasilly Who gives a shit

  • Rakim is one of the greatest masterminds in Rap music. To me, there could never be a better MC than Rakim. He's just real but on a high level, so I get the feeling that I listen to a personified god when he kicks it.. "Because I'm number One, competition is none, I'm measured with the heat that's made by sun..."

  • damn i remember when this came out....i was like 8 or 9 years old!!! damn those were the days living in new york city.....

  • Pure

  • Ofra Haza R.I.P Hebrew: עפרה חזה, Arabic: عفرة حزة

  • @sebafeliciano hey man you leave chris brown out of this he the only modern day singer that will be here 5 years from now....and you forgot kanye west at the last part give him his respect.

  • @diwon100 what the fuck are you doing in this video when you listen to chris brown ?

  • @Armorhead89 lol rappers are allowed to do remixes dog. this original song is a remix of an old indian song, and the drums in this song are stolen from an old Soul Searchers record... lol do some research bruh

  • @Armorhead89 he is a whore now lol

  • one of the greatest song of all the time

  • i hate when people only listen to this just because its considered "good music" and dont have their own opinion

  • @nitzdaking321 I don't mind whoever liking whatever...but don't call DRAKE hip hop-it's not everyone who know's hip hop understands it's POP.

  • @nitzdaking321 hate is a strong word. dont use that shit man.

  • @nitzdaking321 Sooo true P.S. Rakim is a genius lyricist (this should be on the radio instead of all the mainstream music)

  • @nitzdaking321 what the hell r u talking about???

  • thinking of the master plan love that line

  • What ever happened to music with SOUL ??

LIKE THIS -- Still tight after so many years !!

  • good music never dies

  • even tho it was one verse, this one verse is better than anything any new rapper after 2000 ever made

  • A$AP brought me here:)

  • best hip hop anthem ever. no. 1 best song. and album

  • VEVO, FUCK OFF you PIECE OF SHIT

  • 50 Cent in the club is tagged next to this......thats a fucking joke right?

  • @DevinIsRaw96 50 Cent is not bad, he's got some real nice flows and some decent tracks, he just bangs that gangster shit too much

  • @3fairrw what gangsta calls themselves "boo-boo."?

  • @3fairrw

And his music seems to be aimed at young teenagers

  • @tomdabomb999 yeah but thats just the marketing/commercial part of it. the labels know the young (mainly black teens) look up to guys like 50. You could say his lyrics are too adult but at the end of the day its the parents fault not 50.

  • @3fairrw

While I mostly agree with you, I feel that it's too difficult for the parents to stop their kids listening to him nowadays. I myself am only 17, so I was part of the target audience when he first emerged. While my parents disagreed with me listening to music like his, there were so many ways I could listen, it was near impossible to stop me.

  • @tomdabomb999 yeah I guess your right. Best way to go about it is think of music as a force of good, not gangster crap, just see through all that

  • @3fairrw

    Couldn't put it better myself!

  • omg omg omg... do these 112 people know that they listening to two people who were toooo far ahead of their time... Hip Hop hall of famers...they were smooth, and poetic with innovotive ideas before it was standard for hip hop artists to be that way... now we take it for granted they are like that!

  • @olavthehairy fair play

  • I'm 16 and I'm from South America and even here the old school legends are so much more respected than that bitch ass plastic new rappers.

  • @FeazyGSwag Same in Sweden. Me and my homies used to pump some ol' school rap while cruisin' around in our whips back in high school about one year ago. We still do. Our brothers and cousins used to listen to legends such as Pac, Nas and Rakim and when they graduated high school and went on with their lives me and my friends were the new kings in town and we pumped ol' school rap all day long. Not only because we love ol' school rap but also as a tribute to our bros whom we look up 2

  • @FeazyGSwag good to hear that dog-spread the word about the SJN(skinny jean nation) and that Nicki Minaj bullshi*.. preach young brother.

  • Rakim & Eric B ------> 25 years later-------> Lil wayne and Birdman smh

  • i really want this audio version of this video

  • @ColdOasisU2 type "youtube mp3" on google

  • @googleboyny

and it's still better then all the junk out today.

I'll take classic old school where lyrics meant something and art was intentional.

  • im paid in full!

  • 110 people are not paid in full

  • Real hiphop none of that bullshit we hear today

  • PUMP THAT BASS !!!!

  • Strictly Business

  • Why the fuck is "Big Sean Playlist" in big ass letters underneath a Rakim video?

  • Hell yeah boi

  • ....and 25 years later, we are still listening to this music! Good music never dies!

  • @Quinox2008 good music is forever and unfortunately is no longer available everywhere

  • R.I.P. real hip hop. The MC-s had in the 80's much better lyrics.

  • THAT OFRA HAZA SAMPLE IS COLD AS FUCK BRUH

  • It sickens me to see that stupid hoe Nicki Minaj under a Rakim video.

  • @Zero14811111 Look at the bright side, we now got Nas under the video.

  • @Zero14811111

They better delete or women on youtube, cause I never listen to women at all. Only gay do.

  • @Zero14811111 why nikkis the shit

  • @Zero14811111 you are fucking lucky i got Lil Wayne and Bruno Mars

  • @Zero14811111 so true

  • @3rf4vzsd That rap battle was definitely a "turning point", but in my opinion Ra was the one that revolutionized it and really made the biggest changes. Thanks for commenting!

  • 108 people didnt get paid. How can you not like this song?

  • When I hear people today say " these guys are great rappers " I have to laugh....try this shit. These guys were the absolute best. Check out the bass and the rhymes combo. Shit is heavy.

  • Eric B. & Rakim changed the game. Hip hop pioneers hands down!!!

  • lil wayne & soulja boy : REAL HIP HOP . word
