  • a palimino isnt a horse breed, its a color.

  • I own a paint horse and i don't think he would be a good First Horse for anyone. He is very stubborn and head heavy. My trainer has trained a lot of paints and they have all been stubborn and liked to play games.

  • My first horse was a TB :/ at first i was scared on her, but now i realize how much she really loved me, and how much i miss her. :(

  • ik some calm arabs and some crazy QH's and paints. its all about the horse like where the horse has been what its seen all that stuff. My arab is a great first horse because even tho he tests and plays around alot, when push comes to shove, if u r really scared or dont want to do something he makes the right choise and eather contiues slowly and does all the work for u or if he's not to sure eather he pretty much just says naw i dont think thats a good idea today and looks for another way.

  • I learned how to ride on an Arabian. Best ride ever. It is unbelievably comfortable, and so flowing. And they are also gentle, beautiful, and yet high-spirited, and isn't afraid to show it. Now that's the type of horse I dig for.

  • *sigh* if i had enough money to board a horse, then i would choose a Pasi Fino... or a paint... idk!

  • i would love him or her she looks nice and cute we would be bffl best friends for life this is coming from kelcy135 :)

  • My first horse was a 19 year old morgan mare I still have her she's such a good girl always gentle very carefull and knew how far I could go away from home. I was only 8 she takes very good care of me. I can't ride her anymore but she is my jogging buddy now.

  • I know what you're saying but any well trained horse is a good horse for beginners.

  • I know I was being sarcastic, some people on older comments were saying that it is a breed.

  • are arabians or friesians good for beginners? i love those 2 breeds

  • Beginners in what type riding matters too as to what type breed you want, conformation matters in jumpers too as they breakdown or athertic too young if not coformed correctly to stand stresses on legs durring landings.Or take off.

  • I didn't know a palomino was a breed

  • @VAsSweetestBitch colorbreed.

  • @VAsSweetestBitch No I'm sure its not...

  • old horses and young kids. perfect combination.

  • I just started last year in may and my teacher said I'm one of her best students. I only ride because I love it. And I rode a 32 year old pony that all of the beginners rode. He was really grumpy but he never bit, Kicked, reared, or bucked. I just think he was too old to do most of that stuff and then he died in January. :(

  • Excellent information because I am a beginner :)

  • good info.

  • uhm theres a horse riding stable named H bar D ranch & she has a 6 yr old palimino paint horse i suppose named eclipse and she can walk trot and canter on the girl so ya stop telling us that stupid info

  • thats true never get a young horse i learn that the hard way i fell off a young horse we didn't get along i don't know why it look like a nice horse

  • palomino is a breed and a colour the colour originates from the breed, because most palomino's are...well....palomino's

  • ...I think people need to look a lot less into breeds and more into the suitability fr the rider. Ive known 8yo OTTBs that were as beginner safe as any 18yo QH. A good sane horse can come in any breed :)

  • appaloosa's are not ........ All horses have issues.....Avoid thoroughbreds off the track...If you ever worked at a breeding farm you would see how they are treated...not a good horse for beginners......Older stock horse's are great...ponies are insane...I would get a older appy gelding that has been around for my childs first horse...I own 4 of them

  • can you get a horse that is like about 9-12 years of age

  • @gingerbread1588 I'm assuming that you mean,"Should a beginner rider get/buy a horse that's 9 - 12 years of age?"

How well a horse suites an individual depends on both the person and the horse. Age is not neccessarily one of the most important factors when buying a horse. As you probably already know, there are "many" more factors and qualities to take into consideration like temperament, training, vices, and etc... However, a 9 - 12 yearolds or older can make good choices for beginners.

  • can you get a horse that is like about 11 9-12 years of age

  • I don't remember Palomino being a breed....

Also a typical Appy trait is stubbornness, this can be frustrating for first time owners.

  • Very good advice of choosing an older horse that is well trained. I've seen too many people getting a younger horse so the can "bond" while training. Since they have no idea as how to train a horse, they get discouraged and frustrated because it takes a longer time. Our first two horses were 3y.o. and 6 weeks old. Luckily for us we had people that were very helpful with our horses. 4 years later, and 3 more horses, I am still learning new things about horses.

  • Even with the stock horses and the older horses can walk all over the rider. The palomino isn't technically a breed. My first horse was an arabian/welsh pony cross.

  • My first horse was a TB off the track when he was 5 and I was 13.
