I've been uploading videos on youtube for 2 years now, I only have about 44 videos, and only 78 subs. Alot of people have only 1 video, or none, and they have over 1000.
Sad thing is, it's already happening on zippcast too.

If I were you, just be grateful that you have subs that are in the range of 300, plus to want to have subs in the 1000s when you've only been for 1 month is asking FAR too much.

2. Your insights are good, but mostly superficial, read an obscure book or a scientific paper, dig through some old news archives and find something that makes your perspective unique and original. Then go to town posting it on forums and facebook
@CTAgenda I have Avidemux but have never used it, I have poor software skills, As I currently live in China I have some additional inconveniences in using YouTube, I have no interest in Facebook although i have a dormant account

I suggest you look up andy jenkins and "video Boss" its a course to teach you how to make videos on line and market stuff -- basically you are selling your own philosophies and opinions. It's definitely tough man, sometimes you'll get a fluke where a big website will pick up a video, but other than that you've just got to tag the video well and gradually build up a subscriber base. It helps to also have a Facebook page that you can promote the video on as well. Also be sure to post bullitens when a new video is uploaded.
