  • I'm not sure how playing the accordion part plays into feminism, but the ending definitely does. Joan who is ambitious and intelligent woman who will never be able to get farther up in her career and in society because of the intense patriarchy and sexism against women of that time period. Her anger over this inequality helps fuel the feminist movement.

  • @czechangel It's because she's playing the accordion like a little monkey for her husband. Joan is an intelligent person who is reduced into being a little sideshow for Greg to show off.

  • @jeremyud

Ok. That makes a lot of sense. Thank you! :)

  • @czechangel Is it not that he is completely, horribly wrong? And that Joan planned and worked her whole life for that marriage, to a man who was supposed to take care of her and help her "succeed" in the way success was allowed for women? And then after all that planning and work she gets this weak, violent, whiney rapist who can't even do the ONE THING their whole situation demanded he do- get a job that could provide for her?

  • Hmm...I think you're definition of feminism may be slightly off.

  • @CpatainCanuck

That's not quite my definition, but then again feminism lacks a specific definition tbh. What is yours?
