  • The end part of the song sounds like it was a loop. Other than that, it's an awesome video.

  • @youer25 To be honest, it was a loop. XD I needed that part to be longer so I copied it a couple of times; at the time, I didn't have the abilities (musical ear and knowledge, a better hang of WMM...) to pull it off properly, so yeah, that kind of sucked. XD

    Thanks for the comment!

  • that...was intence!

  • i've so far only beaten 5 days... im on trilby's notes now

  • i know whole story hell well but i can't recall whether it was ever definitely determined who killed AJ ??

anyone know answer? i'll just pretend it was trilby/philip:P pretty sure philip would fit the answer a lot better but never heard anything along those lines. yeah i love these games and my friends ignore them too cos of the graphics. i love these graphics/lack thereof for their timelessness and the ideal that less is more.

  • It wasn't explicitly said in the game, though Yahtzee, in the commentary of the special edition, says that he tried to toss every now and then some clues that AJ was killed by Philip...that is, by John DeFoe through Philip's body.

  • And when he came to, he hid the body.

  • and the kid in the privite school, what happened to him?

  • If I recall correctly, nothing. When Simone was killed by John DeFoe, Trilby warned Jim and told him to go into hiding, so presumibly he just confortambly died of old age some 80 years later XD.

  • ohh he did didn't he, well, another thing, what was up with jim in the bathtube and a skeleton poped out?

  • Oh, nothing. That was just a dream, a vision caused by John DeFoe. The player is tricked into believing that the one speaking is actually Jim, but it was only a dream Trilby was having.

  • @LeloucheFTL A NIGHTMARE

  • che cazzo è sta roba? o_o

  • Yeah, but the only problem with nowadays is whenever you show someone this game and say it's amazing they basically give you a "lol this game has mario grapics wtf" and you're just left face palming yourself wondering why all of your friends are losers.

  • Heh heh. I remember last year I recommended the Chzo Mythos to one of my friends. He decided that he wasn't even remotely interested in checking it out.

A few months later, he wanted me to check out and even review one of HIS favourite games (Snatcher for the Mega CD).

The review was meant for a fan section of a site we both regularly visited.

But even though I enjoyed the game, I couldn't dedicate any time on making a decent review of it...

    (see next comment)...

  • (continued from previous comment)...

Like I said. I couldn't find the time to make a review of Snatcher suitable for the site my friend had in mind.

Anyway, when he accused me of letting him down on said matter. I felt a really strong sense of hypocrisy.

If I had actually done the review, I was gonna call him out on his hypocrisy and I would've withheld the review until he did my simple request...

Needless to say... the website fell apart and so I didn't see the point anymore.

  • I find it interesting that someone else is into both these games and Blind Guardian.

Also, I really wonder whether Christianman is just a troll, or whether he's actually one of those loonies who think everything is about the Bible. If he's the latter... seriously, people need to stop ruining religion for people who are religious but not crazy jerks.

  • Agreed. Blind Guardian is my favorite game and the Chzo Mythos Series is in my top 3 for greatest series ever.

Can someone please answer me something, though? How did Simone die in the third game? And how was Trilby possessed before he touched the idol in the first game? And why did AJ run from you in the beginning of the first game? I never understood that.

  • AJ ran away because he mistook Trilby for the spirit of DeFoe.

Trilby was possessed only after he touched the idol, he never was before.

About Simone...if I understood correctly from the Books of Chzo she was killed by the spirit of DeFoe, but I don't know through whose hands.

  • If Trilby was only possessed after he touched it then how did AJ die?

  • AJ was killed when someone else had been possessed by DeFoe. I'm quite sure it was Philip.

  • My friends and I had a theory that when asleep you were easier for DeFoe to possess, but that sounds more logical.

  • Well, that is probably right, too, but if I understood correctly (and it may be that I didn't) DeFoe (unless his Mind goes berserk from being separated from Body and Soul, as in 6DAS) needs a "vector" to possess someone; in 5DAS, both Jim and Trilby touched the idol, and the other one who may have done it is Philip (since he's some sort of treasure hunter). I'd have to check the commentary from the Special Edition of the games to be sure...

  • I'll take your input over mine. I don't have the special edition, although I think I might get it. The games are definitely worth it.

  • Yeah, I agree. Nowadays you can find yourself spending 70 dollars for a piece of crap, while these FOUR pieces of gold can be bought for 15.

  • about the "christian based" song, not many people know this, but the "corrupted old gnome" in the song is actually Noah. and the wizard is God... and the ravens in the distance are choir boys, they are just frickin' choir boys! Am I sarcastic? I'm sorry, I thought you seriously meant it wan christian based! :@ :p

ps: Chris Crocker is the demon child of the Joker and Perez Hilton

  • Lol, what's a "raven?? xD

  • it's a bird...like a crow.... or a magpie

  • 1.Excuse me, what do you mean with "Christian song"? If you mean that the lyrics are Christian-themed, then no, it is the usual Blind Guardian-style fantasy concept.

2.What do you mean with "don't ruin music for people"? I don't understand what you mean with "for people"...

  • Ehm...no. Nightfall lyrics are about the Darkening of Valinor and the departure from Valinor of the Noldorian race. Ever read the Silmarillion? All songs in the NIME album are about the Silmarillion. Blind Guardian HAVE made a couple of Christian-themed and Christian-inspired songs, but neither this one nor Nightfall are one of them.

  • Nightfall was a part of Nightfall on Middle Earth, which was about, surprise surprise, Middle Earth! If you want a Bible song, go check out Heaven Denies (Demons and Wizards, but I believe Hansi Wrote that)

    -Aaron, tired of misconceptions

  • Yeah, normally it's Hansi who writes the lyrics of Blind Guardian / Demons & Wizards songs. Another Christian-themed song is "The Martyr", to say one. But surely this one is not: The last candle is a fantasy concept; after all, I never heard in the Bible of wizards, dwarves and a place called "Caledon".

  • Hah hah that's true, I'd forgotten about The Martyr! (I guess that shows how often I listen to Battalions x.x) In any case, good to see a Blind Guardian and a CHZO fan =D

-Aaron, starting another play through of the series because of this video

  • Excellent series of game. Just ended playing 6DAS yesterday. Cabadath and the alter-world in Trilby's Notes still give me the creeps :S.

  • Chzo just want to open the portal to take dacabe and trilby last clone(the game say trilbys clone)He want to make Dacabe the new prince because the arrogant man wasnt as pure, powerful and loyal as the new prince.John, the one in 7 DAS,is the caretaker because he kill himself with a special weapon. The trilby he kill is the clone that was inside chzo at the end of 6 DAS.He took something from the clone and give it to the Trilby at Trilby notes(trilby hear something when he is dead at trilby notes).

  • I dont really get who is the man in red. Is he the one in 7das?

  • Yup, it's Malcom Somerset.

  • SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER

  • I think cabadah know about the new prince, thats why he kill the trilby's clones and desactivate the bomb at the end of 6das.

  • He does know, yeah.

  • I don't listen to power metal, but Blind Guardian don't have any bad songs

  • I have to say, normally not my style of music, but I rather liked this song in combination with the video of them games, which were very good. Very well done.

  • OK. It is your opinion and as an opinion I respect it. Absolutely nothing to say about it. But I was wondering...I don't want you to take this question as an insult of any kind or as a provocation, I was just wondering...if you hate Blind Guardian, then why did you watch a video which has "Blind Guardian" right in the title? Is it because you are a fan of Yahtzee series?

  • I don't really get it... why did Chzo want a new prince (DaCabe) to replace Cabadath??

  • Now, THAT's the big question Yahtzee himself doesn't want to answer. I guess it's up to us to get it, or to come up with an opinion. For sure, one of the reasons is that ol' Cabbie (my sponsor :D)has always had an agenda of his own, since he knew that he was destined to be replaced and didn't want to, so he didn't fully respect the King's will.

I think the New Prince is somewhat more "pure" and powerful than the first (DaCabe's gone through the 3 blessed agonies, Cabbie's missed Agony of Soul).

  • Well, actually, if you consider it, Cabbie's been through the Agony of the Soul multiple times, what with people cutting up his tree and making it into various objects. That must hurt a lot.

    Also,

it hurts it hurts it hurts it hurts it hurts it hurts it hurts it hurts

  • You're right, I haven't thought that it can be considered "Agony of Soul", in the way that is soul is literally beaten, cut, hurt. But normally the Agony of Soul is someone killing or destroying someone or something they rely entirely on, for example Jack Frehorn shooting his lover and friend, DaCabe having a part in Janine's death, whith whom he was in love, or, if you've played the second game of the Countdown series, the main character killing her boyfriend. Cabbie's missed that.

  • it hurts...

  • it hurts it hurts it hurts it hurts it hurts

  • I was just looking around for Last Candle and I must admit - you really made me play, finish and love the Chzo Mythos.

    Great game and great video.

    It hurts.

  • I wonder what happened to the arrogant man when he fell down the hole in the end of 6 days. Did he find the final rest?

  • To quote the books...he knew the name of the King. Whatever that means.

  • im guessing he died...or something

  • CHZO was also known as the Pain Elemental or the King of Pain, so Arrogant Man knew the name of the king, he knew pain.

  • He knew the pain, still i think he got freed. Also, the Caretaker fell in the hole, and freed his soul(to be trapped as the Caretaker)

  • Caretaker stabbed himself with Frehorn's blade, though. That explains why his body is mutilated.

  • he most found likely eternal pain...

  • Yahtzee says in his commentary that the hole meant "oblivion" for Cabadath, but I guess it's open to interpretation.

  • i think that "they knew the name of the king" means that they died...like in trilby's notes, all the people who died in the flashbacks knew the name of the king

  • Yes, that's what it means. but it also means that Chzo received their pain.

  • Yeah, 'the name of the king' is simply: Pain.

  • Hey, that's something I never quite realised! Damn, you're probably right about this, it would acually fit...nice one Snoken!

  • lol the very first part of the video shows what happens if you remove the suit in 7 days.i did that, and it scared the crap out of me

  • I think I wet my pants when I first saw it..even if I KNEW that Johnny was gonna come out because I READ it!

  • lol that never happened to me...i jumped in trilby's notes when you come out of a room and you are john defoe...i also kinda jumped in 5 days on the 4th day (i think) when the painting is fully changed in the dining room...dunno why lol just kinda was unexpected...looked like an alien thing

  • For me, it was the dream in 5DaS where Trilby is at the shower. The blood in the shower didn't surprise me, but the skeleton bursting out got me.

  • The part where you see the Tall Man for the first time made me jump back in my chair. Same with the faces becoming masks.

  • I've played all the games, but the very end with Chzo, the arrogant man, trilby, and that one guy (can't remember his name) has always confused me. Could someone (without flaming me) please explain what happened?

  • the one guy became the prince, and replaced the arrogand man(i think).

  • you are right. That floating man became a new prince. Chzo took tall's man power and gave it to that floating man.

  • That confused almost everyone, I suppose. I payed for the special edition, and still I don't understand much. I just understood that the Bridge was only to create the New Prince, that Cabbie (I love that character...) was thus replaced and eliminated, that Theodore DaCabe became the New Prince (fusing some part of him with some part of the Bridgekeeper), and that there's a Trilby in Chzo. Have no idea about why.

  • John from the future who becsme the monk found trilby's "soul" & took it to bring back Trilby in the end of Trilby's notes. Since that took place in the far future, Trilby's soul would be trapped in Chzo lair during 6DaS...or something like that, it WAS very weird, but I liked it.

  • These are probably some of the best freeware games you can get great video

  • What the hell are you saying? What do you mean PROBABLY? ;)

  • i was only being unbiased about my opinion the Chzo Mythos series is one of my favourites series of games. I also hear that they there is a 3D remake of 5 Days a stranger in the works as a Half Life 2 mod

  • That's McAwesome. Loved to see that, but then everyone will have british accents in the game & I won't understand them (just kidding). Ben Jordan's a fun series too, but the newest one doesn't really stand up well with the others, but still fun.

  • Very cool transitions. :)

  • I'm glad you liked them. Sometimes I fear I used too much that "flash" transition, but I feel it to fit perfectly both the song (it's a power metal song, after all, a fast song, so I must use fast transition and fast editing) and the games (Yahtz uses that kinda transition very much, too...).

  • And the Arrogant Man knew the name of the King.

  • And so it was. *bow*

  • LOL! 4:47, "So I walk across the land", with all the Trilby clones walking in the hallway, so funny! And I think you did a great job making these tributes, I had such a great time playing these games, they frightened me but in a nice way lol. Aw, I couldn't stand watching Trilby get killed so many times in 6 days XD Trilby's so cool ^_^

  • I know what you mean,I beat all the games except for part 3 which I watched my big brother beat and I couldn't believe when trilby died(in the bit where you have to type die).

  • Yes, it came as a shock to me too, it was 'for the best' but still, I just didn't want him to die... :(

  • ... He didn't really die. (I mean since we're spoiling it already.

  • he was classified as dead but came back to life and in part four you have to kill the real him when you're in chzo which is so sad, but as melovetolaugh put it it was for the best:(

  • You don't really kill him there either, because he is reborn again, as seen in the end of 6 Days a Sacrifce, and in this video.

  • that is most likely the final clone that set the place on fire and he was just about to be sacrificed:(

  • True, but if you try any of the actions, then he will "say" something like this: "the Guide" "protect as always"

Which leads one to assume that it is indeed the real Trilby, since Sommerset, after he stabs the old- and stone-skin looking Trilby inside of Chzo, then Sommerset puts the energy inside the dead body of Trilby, which I assume is the body of Trilby's Notes, which is, at least what I think, the last "real" appearance of Trilby.

  • ...However, I might be very wrong, but that is just my take on Trilby's fate.

  • Well, anything that means trilby could still be alive is fine by me:)

  • Actually, it says "protect HIM always".

Anyway, I think that, since Yahtz's a sadist, this question shall never be solved. There are clues that led me to think that the Trilby inside Chzo (the one killed by Somerset) is the last of the clones, and other that led me to think that he was the real one. Yahtz's never said anything about it: it shall never be solved.

  • well I'm pretty sure the one that you stab is the real trilby because he had had time to suffer and rot inside chzo and the clones hadn't been around long enough to be that rotted but as Bocom said his energy is put inside the non rotted corpse when you stab him and he is most likely the one seen inside chzo when it says "protect him always" because all the other were either killed by cabadath or blown up

  • Time? Chzo exists outside the entire concept of time.

And it was a clone alright. That's why it says "I'm quite sure I'm not the original."

  • In addition, the end of the game takes place BEFORE Caretaker stabs him. Apparently, The Floating Man put him up there for Chzo to feed on. That's why you see Chzo breathing heavily afterward.

And the Trilby who you give the soul to? He's in the same position that he was at the end of Notes, after he "Dies". Coincedence? I think not.

  • Awesome.
