  • Probably flew the Canarsie Climb with radar vectors WAVEY?

  • WAVEY is an airspace fix on the JFK1 and SKORR3 departure procedures.

  • Non-pilot comments on these videos are funny =p Delta was probably on a ground stop or ground delay program out of JFK. He had already pushed from the gate, taxied to the runway, and shut down to wait out the delay. He called clearance to try to get a different route so he could circumvent the delay. Just FYI, airline pilots *never* file their own routes... dispatchers do it. If the pilot has a problem, he'll call the dispatcher to make different arrangements (re: "we'll try company again")

  • Is WAVEY a specific route? are there other routes with other names to the same destination?

  • @WorthWatchingVv

Well, a specific departure route over the WAVEY intersection.

  • And they say New Yorkers are rude. Please, the ATC seems pretty nice!

  • what is WAVEY?

  • WAVEY Intersection (Waypoint)

  • @gonzas144

Actually, I think he was requesting the WAVEY departure.

  • there are a lot of waypoints in the world one of these is WAVEY. And the pilot wanted to fly over this intersection.

  • the delta pilot is on the ground, but is requesting a differerent route than the pre-filed route by the ATC system for that flight. he wants to fly over "wavey" probably to point out a landmark

  • It's not to point out a landmark, dude. There are no landmarks over WAVEY.

  • ok lol theres no landmarks in the water near wavey . but the pilot wanted to go that way for some odd reason

  • It was probably to shave some time off the flight by getting a more direct departure route

  • I dont understand what he want the toer to do. Is he airborne, with shutdomwn engines, above 22R or what? Why dont the delta file the plan him self?

  • i -think- he is on runway 22r(?),on the ground with engines shutdown, but i have no valid guess as to why delta81 does not file the flightplan himself.

    probably lazy ;-)

  • Lol, yeah. How can he be at arunway with shutdown engines? funny situatuon :)

  • It can happen if 22R was being used for taxiing OR maybe he was short of 22R somewhere. Ground can place aircraft wherever they feel appropriate, really.
