very good exercise, I'll do that everyday but..must admit I couldn't keep watching after 3:06 it was getting too gay but yet this exercise is really good
Hi Eric. Boy, I am in some pain. I tried your exercise and now I'm swallowing down ibuprofen in hopes it alleviates the pain in my back. Maybe I did the 'Eagle' a little too much. Of course, it is amazing to realize how 'out of alignment' we can all get. Now I see it is a tough battle to get back to the way things used to be. If anyone reads, take caution and don't over do it. Or your upper back will hurt each time you lower your chin to your chest. OMG, the pain is WOW!
Take a close look at this video. The scapulae rise and fall with obvious asymmetry and this is likely to encourage difficulty for eric. If I was examining him, I would be expecting to find some upper rib fixations or muscle imbalance. Unfortunately this takes away from what I feel is a potentially good video. Please feel free to take a peek over at my blog (paulamoorethechiropractor)Thanks eric!!

@womenclimbingtrees so how does he or anyone else go about fixing the asymmetry in this exercise? Your advice is all well and good but you're just directing us to your blog that is filled with a heap general information but nothing specific to what we are all watching this video for - THIS EXERCISE. Your post started off like you were helping, but then turned into a shameless plug and you posted 3 times. Well done Eric this exercise is doing wonders for me at the moment, few times a day.
@melbal2 Yes point taken. It would take more than a post to advise how eric could correct his asymmetry believe you me. Asymmetry can mean many things: muscle weakness, joint fixations, poor daily postures from repetitive work situations, neurological deficit. Many things. I love this exercise but I think it is an advanced rehabilitative exercise best used post treatment once good alignment and stability has been achieved (be that massage, chiropractic, accupuncture-whatever floats your boat).
I like this exercise a lot and your instructions you look and sound like you really know what you're talking about. I'm going to try it heaps and I'm with that other guy, right now I find it exhausting lol and sore, but I'll fix it like you said.
Very nice, and very nice shoulders. You can trust this guy, although his right shoulder is a bit lower than the left. Notice that he is also stretching his latissimus dorsi (side) muscles. Hugely important as well as raising the shoulders. The trick is to maintain the height of the shoulders. Lengthen the spine and free the neck. Balance the head, ears above the shoulders. If you are making bad comments its because you have no idea of the plight of those with bad posture. Good luck all.

This is the best freaking exercise!!!!
I can tell it works really well because my left side is extremely tired and I don't feel anything on my right side (has tons of knots).
