  • 2:49 is the sound of the tornado?? wow so scary...

  • i live about 2 miles from the path of that tornado....that shit was scary because it was dark when it was near us so we had no idea where it was!

  • skull! 3:06

  • looks like a skull at 307 small warning its gonna get nasty

  • holy shit thats intense'

  • the biggest and most beautifull tornado ive ever seen

  • Why the hell does that face keep changing! nature my ass! D:

  • Passing a cemetery, how ominous!

  • Damn nature you scary!!!!

  • Amazing! I would love to see a tornado once. This is really terrifying. There was a big rainstorm this evening, and I saw a road changed into a small river. But it's nothing compared to a tornado. The house seems so small.

    Thank you for the video!

  • home sweet home.....

  • 3:16

    Happy Face!!!

  • @silenceofthehills WOW it really does look like a happy face!!!

    THAT IS SO NIFTY!!!

  • I was 8 when the tornado in hallam happened. I lived 4 miles away but out house was spared

  • i was six when this happend and i live in a town a few miles from here....my town didn't get hit but there was damage done by the wind....and ever since then i am terrified by bad storms...that was one of the scariest night of my life.

  • @loakum ur right

  • pause this video at the 3:05 mark!!! Perfect skull face image!

  • I love storm chasing. But i don't get too close

  • i would piss myself if i was with them. i can't stand tornadoes, they terrify me.

  • @nebraskasnumber1fan They are beautiful tho

  • At its peak this Tornado set the record for widest ever at 2.5 miles wide.

  • @OnsiteRepair I keep hearing about that, but I can't find any vids of it at that width.

  • That tornato did not look pretty I think I've must of thrown up in my mouth I saw that tornato from 50 miles away I was in the House that gone sucked up from the tornato well good thing I survived now mother nature is playing temp. Games with us why does mother nature do this to our houses, our temp, our whole world every one blame all the weather on mother nature so blame mother. Nature if you don't say that get a life and shame on you ;)

  • thats almost unreal, wind sounds really erie, "the howling" sound.

  • This is why I don't live out west.

  • Sucks for whoever was in that little stranded house out there at 3:17

  • very unsettling attmosphere even just by looking at the video, i cant imagine actually being there

  • This was actually a group of really fat nasty chicks from hastings that got together and started queefing in sequence.

  • Imagine what the Indians thought when one of these things come through the land!

  • @Mufaso1000 Prob thought the white man was coming to pillage their land and rape their women.

  • It was a Demon Portal, to Hell... O.O

  • After the power district refused to lie for Lan Co emer Management they came out with the brillant comment of "Well if we sounded the sirens every time then noone would listen to them"! The spotters claimed that they never saw the tornado because it was rain wrapped however chasers are getting video of it oops how do you miss a 2 1/2 mile wide monster! The best thing said came from the local news agencies who all said wow someone really fucked up in a bad way!

  • The BS of the Hallam Tornado was- The emergency management manager for Lancaster Co. was out of town and his back up had no experence with storms what so ever and he was calling the shots, believe it or not! Not that Doug Alberg is much better mind you because he's not! Lets put it this way Lan Co Emer Management claimed no sirens were sounded in Hallam because the power was out! The Power district didn't back them up and said no the power didn't go out til the tornado hit the town! They lied!

  • Look, this is one of the incredible tornadoes in history. My comment may sound dumb but this is one of the tornadoes that went down in history. It wasn't as strong as May 3rd 1999 or as deadly as The Great Tri state Tornado, but it was The widest tornado in U.S. If you don't belive me,then you should Go on Weather Channel.com. They should have info on the 2.5 mile wide tornado. If not, well then, there are other sites you can look at.

  • I would love to live there.

  • that things huuuuuuuuuuuuuge

  • it's ugly out there

  • Perfect! is it the movie or some thing else?

  • I have relatives who saw that tornado they said it was insane

  • Imagine how many lives would've been lost had this "MONSTER" tornado hit a major city.

  • a f5 is over 250mph right? thats what i think but there r f1-f5 tornadoes can you give a list?

  • @redrussian12 No 200 MPH on the EF scale wich is used now. Back than it was F scale and than a F5 was 250 MPH.

  • @lincolnweather oh so i was off 50 miles an hour over 5 years of not even trying to remember something i learned in school

  • man how often does nebraska get tornadoes? i was thinking of moving there.

  • Damn, that's unbelievable! Two and half miles wide, that is simply mind-boggling.

  • "unpredicted" means on average its only reached about 1.8 diameters, but the actual high is a potential fastest, highest, and widest to hit Greensburg, Kansas locally known as "the Greensburg disaster." it took many lives in that sad year of 2008. a top that would be worse than the following above is "Night of the twisters." seven twisters combined to make a mega twister, and thankfully took 3 lives, but lead to many injuries and damage

  • Man, I dont care what no one says. There aint no such thing as a mile-wide F0 tornado! Man, please!

  • Why are you NOT running the other way?????

Tornadoes cause my death in almost every dream! ha ha. I would NOT be in that car!

  • wow. u guys are brave!!!. scary shit.

  • i agree, that was an eerie sound the wind was making,i have watched a lot of tornado video's and thats the first time i have heard anything like that and to be able to hear it from such a distance.

  • think I just saw a ghost!

  • Sorry but if you don't think there isn't politics involve in rating storms then your really mistaken, I think Katrina proved that with little doubt!

  • @Mr2505federal So how did politics influence the Katrina ratings ?

  • @GOODY61 Politics have always played a part in storm ratings especially when your dealing with federal disaster funding! Katrina even though was rated high the political games that came after was sad to say the least! Look at the levy system that they said would hold together under a catagory 3 and they were given money to make it stronger, well that money went for other projects! Politics always play a role in disasters!

  • The real tornado from hell.

  • At 3:10 , you can see a evil face in the wall cloud. Could That be a huge hint that a large tornado is coming?

  • @TornadoSponge12390 no, its a hint that your a ruhtard : |

  • Got to tell you always thought they rated it low if thats not an F-5 then there isn't such a thing! Never actually went into Hallam and yet destroyed the whole town pretty much! Way to many politics go on regarding storms!

  • @Mr2505federal But the ratings are by damage, really, and I don't think it's too political to decide whether a building is demolished, or whether the whole thing has been swept off its foundation and carried away.

  • Amazing. I had always wanted to take up a job on this. I find it to be rather a cool thing to do, and yet a thrill at the same time. I had always wanted to see a tornado live in person, but yet with me living in Ohio the closet thing I get, were I live are water Spouts.

  • i live here 0-0

  • And does anyone else see the skull at 3:14ish?

  • Around 0:30-0:40ish, I could swear I see a face. :0

  • omg! i never see tornadoes in my part of nebraska! argh!

  • @cailtinluvscaptian Hi, this is longtime chaser (and former Nebraskan) Joel Ewing. You know, I've bagged tornadoes all over Nebraska. It's one of the hardest hit states. Just curious, where are you located? You're probably just not being in the right place / right time. Thanks

  • Wow...unbelievable structure...craziness

  • what's up with the schoolboy nerd over here lol...no need to throw a nerd rage just because people are commenting something lol

  • that is one big ass tornado

  • that is one big ass tornado

  • Nice!!

  • its amazing how this happend!!!

  • Scary!

  • I remember that day..... i was scared and had a bad feeling of that storm, turned out to be the biggest tornado in history

Only 20 Miles away from the stom

  • I noticed the date of this tornado was May 22. That was the date I saw my first and second tornado. It was in 2008 though, up in Kansas. Definetly a time frame to be ready. May 13th was my best day in 2009. Great video on this twister.

  • i remember when this happened it was pretty creepy seeing all the power out, also i always drive where the tornado passed

  • i mean tornado

  • biggest tornadoe in history.....

  • Not only does it look like a skull, starting at 2:47 the wind makes a very ghostly sound. !!!!Shudder!!!!!

  • This tornado plus several other tornadoes we have captured over the years will be featured on a highlight dvd which is scheduled for a December 2010 release. We have some never seen footage which is really incredible. I will try to get the preview video up sometime soon.

  • wow he does look like a skull thats freaky

  • Awesome tornado. That's the kind I want to see in person, and close-up. I have seen a few while chasing, but none like this yet. Great video.

  • To think that this was only 20 minutes south of my home at one point freaks me the fuck out. Tornados never hit Lincoln.

  • OMG!!! at 3:00 it looked like a big skull-face

  • It was as if the entire meso was on the ground.

  • Sorry for my ignorance but how intense was this thing? Was the highest one?

  • F4, the second strongest category.

  • this is the widest / biggest tornado in history or something like that,...

  • the F-5

  • Big.

When I saw the Greensburg rare footage though with Darin Brurin and Dick McGowan, I couldn't beleive my eyes how friggen phat the tornado had grown. (You can only see it occasionally in the illumination of lighting flashes.)

One or one and a half miles wide of EF5 fury is an incredible thing to see.

  • I Loved That Tornado it Destroyed My School Oh yeah No 5th Grade yeah baby

  • This was the largest tornado ever recorded, 2.5-miles wide, and with winds from F0 to F4. Bad news.

  • Should pause at 3:13

    IT's like a demon head o.o

  • wow. words cannot describe the shock to find a demon head shaped cloud outside a tornado.

  • @worksa7 OMG you are so right.....It looks like it has two eyes and a nose.....WOW!!!

  • wow that was scary

  • wow the skull was scary lol

  • 1:20

    Irony

  • Yup, true 3:02-3:15 looks like the death cloud!

  • that cloud was scary lol

  • 5 sterne... Gute aufnahme....

  • that's my school that it ripped up. :(

lol...we had a late start though! thank youuu, tornado.

  • I live near Hallam, was actually the tornado that hit Hallam?

  • Yes.

  • I live north of this tornado and over the years I have seen the funnel clouds form every thing from the hand of God to a hugh cock and balls. Dropping acid seems to Enhance the visual effects of a tornado but you need to see one in person to really feel their power.

  • If you look at the video at 3:02-3:00 a skull appears in the clouds...

  • lmao nobody would get the information that you posted on the side bar except for people who live in nebraska

  • nebraska is only utilized agricultural area

    and kansas too

  • dude, seriously, look at ur username, and seriously that's stereotype. There's a lot of industry in the bigger cities

  • Check out 3:07.....FREAKY!!!

  • yeah do you see the face in it??

  • yeah, in were skull

  • shit dude im going to have dreams about this now

  • looks like a skull

  • omg, that's so fucking scary! :S:S:S

We've never had a tornado in sweden :S:S:S:SS - Im happy for that

  • ha personally for me i don't care how big/wide it was what gets me is the way the clouds start to wrap around it!!!!..ohh and the sound of the wind in the power lines make it cool also!!

  • this was a mile from me

  • This tornado was at one point 2.5 miles wide!

  • I never saw a tornado, because I life in germany :P

  • nice video what was the ground and wind speed and if the shifted you guys wouldn't have a video and you should never chase on a dirt or muddy road cause if you get stuck and it shifts good luck getting away.

  • i agree with the dirt and muddy road things..but in the middle of nowhere in nebraska, thats all your going to find haha

  • k for 1 grand island had seven tornadoes in one night 2 hav u ever seen central nebraska

  • i live in omaha i know what it feels lke....

  • Whoever made the omaha SUCKS video isn't funny and should get a life. the place rocks

  • Agreed since i live there.

  • lol I didn't make the video but I'd have to agree Omaha does suck...I lived there all my life and thank GOD I just moved out of there a few months ago and I hope to never go back!

  • Lucky haha i have been wanting to move for all 14 years ive lived here lol

  • Its the witnessing the power of nature that intrigues us to investigate more,as we develop better modes of escape from them, the more daring the trek..

  • Cool video, but you guys should of been in a basement instead of following that thing around

  • I agree with you iss101 always go into a basement if you are chasing a tornado and don't have a way of getting away from one go under a bridge and hang on as tight as you can or you can always go under a sewer. I'd prefer a basement would be better.

  • What's wrong w/ storm chasing? Sometimes is saves lives. Like, when they can report where it's going.

  • I remember this day, I was in Grand Island with my family and we were watching the News and they were saying that Hallam had been destroyed by a tornado, and even in Grand Island it was hot, humid, and storming...

  • wow that thing is huge I bet it ripped up the asphalt off the ground

  • Lucky when i was like in frist grade a tornado destoryed the school

  • Sensacional vídeo...5/5

  • woooohh!!! How close were you from 2:44 to the end?

  • Hey airraider, what don't you get about EARLY stages of the tornado? The Greensburg one was 1.7. This one had a good 0.8 of a mile on the Greensburg one. But it wasn't as powerful.

  • I remember that night like it was yesterday! Im from Lincoln, but it stormed like crazy all night long! You could feel it in the air all day that storms were brewing, it was hot and humid from the moment I woke up that day!

  • This is by far the best--!! I love when passing the ghost town, really spooky with that screaming wind-just awsome***

  • hearing the sirens give me goosebumps

  • widest tornado on record!!!

  • Dude...nice lightning strike 2:01

  • I remember that thing. It wasn't a tornado when it passed over our house, but we had to get our roof re-shingled. It was pretty sweet though.

  • Thats Nebraska for you tornados in the summer and fricken hudge snow storms in the winter GO NEBRASKA!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Yeah, the clouds turn into a mean looking face.

  • HUGEEEEEEEEEEE fucking HUGE

  • GO NEBRASKA

  • What a monster!

  • Id be driving the other direction xD

  • dude I was there after that happened, like 2 weeks after, that was a brutal tornado, there was even a destroyed feed mill and shed by the back highway to Lincoln, which is a ways from there. They rebuilt really fast though

  • I was in Crete, NE, during a wedding, when the tornado ripped through Hallam. It was crazy

  • i was at that wedding also

  • Look at the wall and collar cloud on that thing! It hit Wilber and Hallam when it was at it's most intense. I think it was 2.5 miles in diameter near Hallam. At 2:03 and 3:18 the thing actually made the wall cloud kind of "blow up". Amazing video.

  • at 3:03 or so, the clouds look like a scary face

  • waaw it really big one

  • This tornado destroyed my sisters home and it made a mess of her life in general.

  • mjwb72:oh crap...i hope she's doin' allright now...

  • This was the largest tornado ever documented in USA history, and it was 2.5 miles wide and wiped out Hallam, Nebraska.

  • so i google mapped this did it hit these towns??..western, wilber or clatonia??

  • i've seen ALOT of tornado videos in 20 yrs and this is easily in the top 5 but how would you say biggest ever what about spencer s.d, moore okla, or andover kansas in 1991...but this is pretty amazing esp how it wedges out from just an average storm and the messesed up rotation at 3:30..i'd like to see the satellite loop of this storm

  • WIDEST EVER!!!! My god people!!! Stop posting here if you are stupid!! Widest tornado ever, at 2.5 miles wide. NOT strongest tornado ever. Give me a break. Thank you to those of you that know the difference and can actually Google this tornado and understand what 'largest tornado' means. I posted the entire

NWS survey where they say.. 'Unprecedented width of 2.5 miles.' This means it has never happened, for those that don't know.

  • Yeah, so somebody says the sky is falling....you gonna believe that too? I don't care who they say they are, they have NO clue what the widest has ever been and they are probably guessing how wide this one was.

  • lived through that shit right there.

  • There is another face at 3:18.

  • 2.5m long? the tornado was 2.5 miles long in diameter? wth...

  • 2.5 miles wide damage path, not 2.5 miles long.

  • this was documented as having a damage path 2.5 miles wide at one point by the national weather service..and size does not indicate strength..and a mile in half is HUGE for a tornado so i dont know how you call that " a weakling tornado"

  • Go back to school idiot. This is the largest tornado ever recorded.

  • He didnt get captured how big this tornado really was because it was actually 4 tornados that joined together and formed one huge one. I know this because i remember watching it come straight towards my town but then at the last second it changed it's path and missed us.

  • no it didn't.

  • @skers08

Sounds like it was a multivortex tornado then.

  • You have no clue. Shut up please. The tornado reached 2.5 miles wide before it hit Hallam. NOT here in this clip. Nowhere does it say THIS shot is 2.5 miles wide. It's actually an F0 to a weak F1 right now.. hitting only dirt and farm fields.

  • On a somewhat random note, a wedge tornado can (thereotically) get as big as four miles long.

  • @roguegirl29 Its possible however, very unlikely

  • Hence my use of the word theoretically.

  • ya I know

  • Lived there when it happenned what a night that was..
