It would make our lives a lot easier if they stayed with 'verb + object + preposition'. As stated in Peppy 25, there are some phrasal verbs which can follow the rule of 'verb + preposition + object'. There are also some which can use both of those formulas. 'Get out' is one of those: 'I got out my map' or 'I got my map out'.

Great work, Steve! Phrasal verbs always make me confused T.T . Not only are there lots of meanings depending on the context, but also structure vary somehow. Why don't we use exactly the same formula such as "verb + object + preposition", Steve?
