yes, this was beautiful. I love how they stayed true to their ballet technique and format but added the Persian hands, hips, and shoulder movements. The costuming was a great compromise. I'm impressed.
Very beautiful. The music is 1987's "Dastan". Record of Mohammad Reza Shajarian with Aref Ensemble. Music composed by the great Parviz Meshkatian (1955 - †2009)
Wonderful. Thank you. I have a 6 year old daughter who has been taking ballet since she was 3. I showed her this and she was glued. I asked my friend in NYC who was a NYC ballerina 40 years ago and still has a seat at every performance of New York City ballet what she thought. She said the dancers are exquisitely trained. She specially loved the persian music and thought it adds to the whole art of ballet.
Where can I get a DVD of this? I want to support this troupe.
I think this could have been much better performed if there were more elements of Persian figures in it. except for the music and some small movements here and there was there any other Persian stuff in it?
the iranian national ballet was established in 1967 when the hijab was not mandatory. this type of performance would not be allowed since the revolution. this particular performance appears to have taken place in london.
I presume you mean on pointe. The answer is practise, years of it, and not a little pain.
Beauty is not easily achieved. The entrance is from La Bayadere act 2: The kingdom of the shades. There are normally 28 dancers entering the stage down a ramp. It is a hypnotic sight. Catch it if you can if only act 2. The whole ballet is a great romp.

Thank you so much for ahring this beautiful video. Likewise the lady below I would like to have complete video of this dance. I do thank for your response.
God bless Mr. Meshkatian's soul and all Iranian soldiers who lost their life due to the recent "Green Revolutions"

I have a question...
I am a classical ballet dancer so I am puzzled.
How is classical ballet allowed to be presented in Iran, when the women are supposed to be covered from head to toe?
