Most of the band never looked forward to this, and was some of our most tasteless playing. The band actually sounded really good at times, when there weren't 40 of us being told to sound like 200. Higher, faster, louder... aye sir.
I remember being there that year, it was my senior year of marching band and we went to norfolk for our trip. Seeing it live was amazing! It made me bawl! I'll never forget the finale that year either. Everyone in that arena stood and sang "Proud to be an American" it was so powerful!
They definetly looked awesome! The director makes all the difference! The overall sound of the band has definetly centered around a "Drum Corps" style though. I remember it was more about looks than sounds and they definetly looked awesome! But that civic center definetly rocked when the Marines perform! Back is 2003 we had the loudest ovation and I'm sure they did here as well!!
Ladies and Gentlemen, honorary Nova Scotians all, "The Quantico Band of the United States Marine Corps". This was f-in awesome until Chesty Puller got out there and "blah blahed". I'm guessing Bob Szabo arranged this? Great flow to the drill, and I'll admit that if he did arrange this, his skills have improved! F-in awesome ending too! Another proud former memeber of the QMB!!!
I was a member of this fantastic organization from 1986-1988 and attended 2 Tattoos in Nova Scotia. We had the time of our lives and loved performing every year. I am Jacqui Bohl, if any of you remember me, I'd love to hear from you! Reply to this post!
I have been to several VA tattoos, and the Quantico Band does a phenomenal job each time. BRAVO! You were missed this year! Don't know what the last post referred to, but the sound of the band in Scope was incredible, dynamic, and inspiring.

Just FYI, the Quantico band was there this year. Unfortunately, due to most of the band being deployed to Iraq, they were unable to perform a show.
