This is my favorite of all the PBS logos ever! I was born in 1986, so I can't recall ever seeing this on PBS as a young child, even though PBS was basically all I watched growing up (b/c we had no cable at my house.)

PBS seemed a little different. It was the only station that had bits of silence between programs, and it was a different kind of silence, kind of a hiss. In the 80's I remember seeing the pbs logo, a slate telling the next show, some silence, some warblely music and then the words "Butterfly in the sky..."

mattcintosh2: You and I are totally on the same page about the "silence" thing. What I hate about television is that the longer it's around, the more frenetic it gets. It's a outright assault now. In the late '80s, it still had at least a second of silent black between most commercials and bumpers. And PBS of course had plenty of calm "hiss". But now? Jeeziz. Bam-bam-bam-bam-bam! Never lets up. Not even calm old PBS. I hate it, I tell ya.

I recently saw the Annenberg logo on "Destinos: An Introduction to Spanish" on a 2 am airing on my local PBS station, WHYY in Philadelphia. I was half-asleep when I came across it, and it scared the shit out of me!

The voice ona logo is usually creepy as is the music. Plus, the logos just seem out of context with what show they normally follow. It is like Sesame street, then this weird logo.

Wow. Annenberg still sends down a nearly identical bumper/ID before nearly every program. They're ceasing the national Annenberg feed next fall, so I guess they see little need to update.

I don't think the Annenburg/CPB logo has changed at all. I just saw that on TV in the gym the other day. Although the jingle has changed many times the PBS p-heads logo is still the same aswell. Similar to WGBH-Boston.
