Good morning, do you like sixties? Listen and pod cast my program " great sound of 60' s " on the site plumfm. Greeting and made blooper in rock and roll.
Salut, vous aimez les sixties ? Ecoutez et podcatez mon émission "le super son des sixties" sur plum fm. Salut et faites gaffe au rock'n roll.
@biden1 If you really have to know, that was the way that 'Arthur Conley', who wrote the song sang it! They just sorta 'picked-it-up', naturally, and it 'fit-right-into-their-gig'! Arthur Conley 'was' the 'first-one' to sing it, I believe? I don't even remember the 'exact-year' but "I" was hangin' in there as 'tough-as-I-could' on the "radio", know what I mean?
This IS Sam & Dave. Arthur Conley had the hit, but this is off of one of Sam & Dave's albums! It's easy to tell there are two separate voices singing the lead!
ok feel free to shoot me down in flames, but the horn section sounds very much like the ones used by Otis Redding.........I'd say it's a medley, thought I could hear Wilson Picket, Otis Redding and Sam Cooke in there, and Otis singing a bit of fa fa fa fa fa fa fa fa in the mix too.
I think it is the same horn section. Picket Redding and Sam & Dave were all on Stax. I think most of Stax artists were basically backed by Booker T & the MG's
i think it is them. people must be confused. every time i download it, it says it's sam and dave but it's arthur connely. this is the best version there is.
This is Sam and Dave, plain and simple. I was listening to Sweet Soul Music when it was originally released by Arthur Conley and this isn't Arthur Conley. Anyway, Sam and Dave trade verses on this as they do with everything else. Sounds great. Just isn't Arthur Conley. But then again Arthur Conley didn't do I Thank You or Hold on I'm Coming like Sam and Dave.
Does this bring back memories or what??? I remember being 16 and going to the Cheetah nightclub in NY and Trudy Hellers the Trick, and dancing all night long to Sam & Dave and the other greats. My junior prom date stood me up and I put on my best dress and went DANCING!!! I had a great time without that jerk.

@lmfislb
I wouldn't say a thousand, but Conley's no doubt is the best one.

No question it's Sam and Dave. Sam Moore sings in the beginning.
It's a terrible version, background singers are terrible. Just listen to Arthur Conley's version
and see how raw and almost live it sounds in comparison.

mm, someone thinks this is Arthur Conley -- that original version, by Arthur, is about the greatest record ever made.
nah this is Sam and Dave, and one of them sounds off here to me; I think Dave.
