There's two main points to British humour.

First off is Sattire. Almost all British humour is dark, or mocking.

That which isn't fits the second category: Subtle. Sometimes you miss some of the best jokes because they're too clever.

The fact is mate. This isn't annoying. It's a pretty good portrayal of how the uniformed masses respond. Goodbye, and please take note of Fry's last comment. It applies to you too.

Wikipedia, in it's poorly written and referenced way says, "Several other activist groups have protested the show's parodies of Christianity and portrayal of Jesus Christ." and then cites three articles that show the exact opposite while the same entry names individuals from other special interest groups.

A "well known public figure" isn't the same as an identifiable group like "Conservative Christians", especially when those public figures come from other identifiable groups.
