  • I'm in love. I wanna be superhero now

  • 1:06 looks like MJ's dance pose

  • like it!! simple and effective!!

  • @joesatva Thank you :)

  • Victoria You have good spirit!!

  • @jhon7416 Thank you Jhonn :) Many Blessings, Victoria

  • I like that move it reminds me of boxing alot shuffleing wise neat foot work. I want to go back to the Trapping thing. Have you met Rick Fey? He's a teacher of Jkd. I taken Tkd to improve my kicks soon I want to learn all four ranges. Grapling, Trapping, Kicking and ,Punching range. Thats a goal of mines.

  • @Iburton86: Of course the term I learned was "refolding a kick."

  • @victoriavives: Oh, so they don't chamber in JKD. I went to what JKD enthusiasts would call a Jun Fan JKD school in my area, whose owner trained under Sifu Jerry Poteet. I actually train Hung Gar, Western Boxing, and Japanese Jujitsu, but I incorporate many JKD principles in my training. The school never told me to "Chamber" but over time I found the term to describe what they were trying to teach me.

  • I never liked calling them hook kicks, though it makes more sense in simplicity than roundhouse kick. I still can't think of a better word. Maybe swing kick, which lacks any power. I'm used to the kick with the same positioning, but kicking backwards as a hook kick. I'm used to "hook" referring to striking with an apex, or "rotating stabbing" move like the punch.

  • The pendulum step looks similar to a simple dance step when is done slowly.

  • @victoriavives: Oh I see, two different steps. I've always used offensive and defensive strategies, but didn't know they were two different steps. By refolding a kick I meant returning the kick to the pre-attack position with knee folded. I know you were doing a demo, but it's a common mistake even I was a victim of. Again, with respect!

  • @IBurton86 What you are describing is chambering. Generally speaking kicks in JKD are not chambered, as it is a less direct route to the target, and therefore a less efficient movement. Who is your instructor? You should check JeetKuneDoUniversity(DOT)com

  • she can get a way hotter guy than that!!!!!

  • @Iburton86 Sorry *Roundhouse kick* lol.

  • This is a good breakdown of that movement. Plus I like the name pendulum step better than what my instructor called it...the "steal a step." BTW Victoria nice kick roundhouse! One thing that helps my roundhouse is refolding. No disrespect, just a tip. (:

  • @IBurton86 Stealing a step is a great technique used in JKD as Bruce Lee adapted it from fencing, but it is totally different from pendulum. Stealing a step is purely offensive, whereas pendulum is either used as a combined attack+recovery or an evade+counter. If with refolding you mean recovery, I totally agree. I always use recovery when sparring :) Thank you for your feedback!

  • I liked the video up until she mentioned the husband

  • Some beautiful footwork!

  • @Donatellangelo Thank you :)

  • there is no pendulum in jkd! It is wasted motion! Your right in dissolving the attack. Look again at you body mechanics. In a real fight it would never happen that way. The first back step is right. the other back step is just exessive. Remember the 4 principles of jkd. If you dont know them you might want to learn them. Even though you move well with the technique if you are unclear of the deepest aspects of principle, you will likely fall short of proficiency.

  • @sum1G This is a STANDARD technique in JKD. Go study! I recommend JeetKuneDoUniversity(DOT)com

  • @victoriavives If you can tell me the four principles of jkd I will check out the website.

  • @sum1G I really don't care whether you learn JKD.

  • isn't that a round kick?

  • @emachines390 Yes, it is called a roundhouse kick in most martial arts, however, in JKD it is a hook kick because it follows the same trajectory than a hook punch, so Bruce Lee called it hook kick :)

  • @victoriavives ohh. that makes sense.

  • it's nice to see someone who is happy to be teaching what they know vs the angry death stare teachers lol

  • @omni01K Lol! Thank you :)

  • You are so beautiful and nice! Awesome video.

  • @scurvyswine Thank you :)

  • I've been self training for a while now. Is that a good idea? I havent the money to afford lessons so self-training is my only option.

  • @thewillfulldreamer Any training you do with the intention of learning is a good idea, whether it is on your own or with someone.

  • @victoriavivesHow long do you think I should train a day?

  • @thewillfulldreamer I would advice for you to trust your inner knowing. We are all different and nobody else can really know what we need.

  • @victoriavives I see. Thank you for the advice.

  • I'd walk through a mile of broken glass to let her kick me in the face.

  • @SOCOMSoldier01 Thanks!

  • nice shit

  • @RCOnline0 Thank you!

  • You move your legs without your head, Bruce Lee said exactly the opposite and a lot of other things and principles are completely wrong.

Of course this is your Jeet Kune Do, but it's not Bruce Lee's Jeet Kune Do, for these reasons it exists the Bruce Lee foundation , only it's members (and of course their students) can teach Bruce Lee's JKD.

Of course we can discuss about it...

Anyway you are not only a really nice girl, but a very good athlete!!

  • @graragorn bruce lee said a lot of shit and then did another in the movies and in demos. the thing is, i can see the progress in this and if lee was alive he would immediately see the benefits and application of this tech. for instance it doesnt telegraph like lees round house of side kick. so, what im saying is that stop the lee worship already. i think he would even get sick of it. the only problem is see with this tech though is that she smiles too much lol. shes gotta learn to SNARL!!!

  • @opticannon LOL, thank you! I do have videos where I snarl :)

  • @victoriavives and so ive noticed lol.

  • @opticannon Where are the progress??? I've talked about moving legs without chest, that way you are completely uncovered, it's just not smart moving that way, nothing matter if Bruce Lee said that, but he was right....

  • @graragorn THAT NOT WHAT YOU SAID... any way thats the thing with learning jkd. no one is qualified to teach it IN MY OPINION cause they havent gone to the source of all the different styles it took bruce to learn the various methods. so, if you take ving tsun you would understand the benefits of this tech.

  • @graragorn You don't know who I studied with, though. And thanks for the nice words :)

  • @graragorn

The Bruce Lee foundation does not own JFGF nor does it have the only "way"....however i agree that this JKD is not quite right. The structure and economy of motion is off.

  • @ofir74bonen Thank you!

  • what if that kick was going for yr liver??? still u got to move all yr body and keep the center of gravity always steady.. I'm starting jkd and this just seems wrong...

  • @iBlackHeart It seems to be specifically for leg defense against a low kick. By not moving the upper body back, she doesn't sacrifice her ability to punch him while still being able to quickly shift back or sideways if the kick is aimed at the torso/hips.

Disclaimer: I'm not an expert, these are just my observations.

  • I would loves to learn it from her!!

  • @JohnNPG Thank you!

  • Such a lovely happy instructor. ...

  • @blucinemafilms Thank you :)

  • Wow, how can you keep your energy level high enough for that smile to never fade...? :D

  • @5yve Thank you :D

  • jeet kune do is a style(or philosophy) based on daringness and audacity, which thus reflects in the approach and techniques it utilizes

  • I liked it

  • nobody uses jeet kune do effectively as lee

most of the people who teach it add there own theories

    tjkd traditional jeet kune do

and modern jeet kune do mjkd

most teach modern being many want to be mma fighters

  • Muy buena técnica, señorita. Yo practico kung fu amateur. Me srivio mucho el estilo del pendulo. Quisiera ver videos doblados al español. Gracias por su interés.

  • @alejandrolihon Gracias Alejandro! Me gustaria traducirlos al Espaniol tambien :o)

  • Your beauty is so distracting for my Jeet Kune Do learnings

  • @Hackmoune Well, thank you :o)

  • I want to learn some Jkd I taken a class's before I was confused by the way it was being taught. They was using so many things at once I was confused. They where using Kail in it too. I had some small amount of muy Thai training. But the rest of my kicking skills are limited so I taken Tkd to add to my boxing knowledge. Forms are not really my thing. what your thoughts? I'm curious my goal is to become more rounded.

  • @EMR80 from my personal experience what u will get out of it depends entirely on instructor. For example my instructor teaches attributes (i suggest u search "paul vunak attributes" video), and u use techniques from what u already know (theres no point teaching u how to punch like a karate guy if uve done wing chun for years). Other instructors like Emil will teach jkd as its own art in which the basically teach the moves that bruce lee uses

  • @EMR80 I personally found that the way my instructor teaches improves all martial arts as it improves attributes (explained by paul vunak as i previously said). whereas other teaching styles will broarden your range of techniques as jkd is the only single art which teaches everything...ground work, kicking, punching, trapping, weapons training and flow. To be honest after you have read all this I will now tell u that i cant say how much u will gain, u have to see the class 4 yourself.

  • Mulher bunita mano *-*

  • @AndersonDiasxD Muito obrigada ;o)

  • She reminds me of Zoe Saldaña...

  • @nestornegron Thank you :o)

  • @nestornegron Who is Zoe Saldana

  • @Haywood2 Google her name, but make sure you are seated. By the way, she was the main character in AVATAR and also has a new action movie named Colombiana.

  • Ey amiga si me miras en la calle amor y paz embuena honda no quisiera que me dieras una palisa. Muy buenos tus videos :)

  • HAve you spanish videos of this?

  • @hunk2099 Me gustaria traducirlo al espanol, pero no lo he hecho todavia. Lo primero que he traducido y publicado en Espanol esta semana ha sido una meditacion :o) Saludos a Peru! Tuve una gran experiencia alli :o)

  • very interesting, seems like bruce lee did that in many of his movies. I might want to learn JKD some day. I did TKD in high school. :) and, victoria vives is beautiful and her husband is fortunate :)

  • @neutrino78x Thank you Brian! Lots of LOVE ;o)

  • you're so nice this video naturally made me smile :)

  • @LovesToSpooge77 Thank you!

  • She is hot i would definately study "under" her :)

  • as soon as she said husband i clicked the back button

  • que lindas piernas

  • @gustavo200485 Gracias Gustavo!

  • 1.06 by that move i instantly thought of Michael Jackson...I wonder why?

  • @minasz I would think of that too :o)

  • @victoriavives Well than you should do a dance video...bye honey bunny

  • @minasz I have that too, but most people ask me for and watch my martial arts videos.

  • @HigherSelfCommunity Really? whats the link of your music video...I love yoru martial arts movie also!

  • @minasz Thank you NaSZ! I will send you a PM :o)

  • how could u concentrate with a teacher that looks like that she is beautiful

  • @martialbeast Thank you very much :o)

  • she's so pretty it makes my heart ache...

this isn't a hook kick, its a roundhouse counter with a roundhouse...effective nonetheless however, something I'll practice

  • @bkzunltd000 Thank you very much :)

I did practice this same kick with the name of roundhouse in all other martial arts styles. Bruce Lee, founder of Jeet Kune Do, called it a hook kick because it follows the same trajectory than the hook punch.

    Much Love, Victoria

  • @victoriavives

ah ok. makes sense. I was thinking steven cho hook kick, but that makes sense. Gotta trust bruce lee.

  • @bkzunltd000 Hee hee, I agree :)

  • @bkzunltd000 Oops, I am answering from my Healing Arts channel instead the Martial Arts one... but it is me, Victoria :)

  • @HigherSelfCommunity

"...in all other martial arts styles"... that's pretty interesting, what styles have you taken?

  • By the way: this only works with short pants :-)

  • Friendliest and happiest JKD instructor I've seen

  • @Edalb123 Thank you! Hee hee... Yes, I am a very very happy person :) Much Love, V

  • @victoriavives That's great that you're happy, I find it's very contagious :)

  • @Edalb123 Glad to hear that!!!!

  • Awesome, I learnt something new :O)

  • @WomanJocker Cool! I love that :)

  • Thank you, Victoria! I would love to learn more from you as your excercises are wonderful and they are helping me with my acting career in Toronto where I live. Very soon I will be playing a Warrior role in the spring of 2011 and your exercises are really helping me. Do you have a web site that I can join? I would love to learn your 5 super-hero secrets.

  • Well....at least she teaches with a smile. She seems alot friendlier than all the JKD guys I've met. Haha

  • @AsturiasGuitar Lol! Thank you :)

  • @AsturiasGuitar SHe's probably crazy strict when you go to her classes in person lol!

  • good legs.. learning more than her legs XD haha

  • you got really beautiful but powerful legs

  • This chick is awesome!!!

  • @Kinley1978 Thank you :)

  • @victoriavives I would have dodged it and go straight for a roundhouse kick or if i had enough range I'd would have done the leading JKD Side Kick

  • @bankaiichigo13 Not sure what you mean. This is an explanation of a technique I like for whoever wants to learn it. It is not a discussion about different techniques. However, there are lots of different techniques at my site JKD4superheroes

  • @bankaiichigo13 for every move there is a counter bud. Fighting is like chess "on the clock" because it just depends on who react to the situation better at that given time. :)

  • In the process of becoming an instructor already? Interesting...

  • @MarshallArtsWorks Yes, it is not a short process, but I am on it :)

  • @victoriavives as silly as it sounds, I have trouble with that technique. I was drilled in boxing to move, but to never let your feet off the ground for a second. Now that i'm kickboxing, it really helps me to setup a wide variety of kicks followed by some devastating punches. Good luck in your quest VV.

  • Ok, if you really wanted to kick him hard then you had to kick with the foot that is in the back and to evade you just had to move you're foot to the back. So basically you should have done one move to hit more effectively but here you did 2 (=1 wasted movement) and did not even had the most strongest kick because it was with the front leg ... just saying

  • @Jozsef86330 Thank you. You have no clue about Jeet Kune Do though. I am grateful I've studied different martial arts styles and sparred enough so that I understand different ways of fighting and I can assure you that JKD can beat them all. The other ones are my choice for film, though.

  • @victoriavives Well I did not learned Jet Kun Do so yes, well almost yes about the part of I don't have a clue about it. I just read a few articles on the net about how Bruce Lee thought about fighting.

  • @Jozsef86330 I see. I am in the process of becoming a JKD instructor and I train with the WNG (Tim Tackett) too. JKD is very practical!

  • @victoriavives it is a joke

  • nice, pretty good techniques.

  • I usually use this the build up momentum for a leading leg side kick.

  • @flanfan1212 Good choice!

  • @flanfan1212 Hey why not they'd be wide open for it lol. I used to do that too, although not really using the backwards swing of the pendelum so much as an evade before the kick (I just used it to close the distance forward like a skip sidekick). This is a different take on it I wish I had used it effectively I would have won more tournaments lol. I had this instructor who was 6 foot 5 or taller, his kick reach was murder using this kind of technique.

  • @flanfan1212 pretty much like this right? watch?v=0ZrXkxkLk3o

  • @dealmaker007 yep

  • This is very effective. Back in the day some of my opponents used to use that and catch me off guard so I know from being on the wrong side of the technique that it works lol. Fast footwork = win.

  • @dealmaker007 Thank you :) I agree. I get my training partners with that most of the time. One of my fav techniques!

  • @victoriavives It's a counter that is so hard to defend against because it's like a surprise attack. BUT...your husband could have stopped it if he used a different style. Since I used to get caught with that all the time I just learned to do a double kick (lead leg roundhouse at the leg and then a sidekick to the midsection if they tried to do the pendelum evade trick). But if the attacker just kicks once and tries to plant their foot down after they miss they're toast, as yall have shown lol.

  • @dealmaker007 Hahaha! That's right. That is why I always have something ready right after the pendulum hook kick as well :))) Combinations! Combinations!!!!! Hee hee...

  • @victoriavives are kicks to the leg legal in JKD tournaments? Because they never used to let us do that in Tae Kwon Do.

  • Ey, V, i did that move @ 1:08 at the club the other day. lol

  • @YTBT Really? COOL!!!! I love it! It is my favorite technique :)))

  • nice

  • Another amazing vid my friend!!!

  • @josifus77 Thank you :)))

  • will you ever get into any grappling? because as you know bruce studied and picked up various things from different martial arts so he picked up a few things from grappling (jiu-jitsu, wrestling, judo)

  • @Juicelee777ssj I did some BJJ before JKD ^_^ I love that stuff!

  • nice round kick no hook kick

  • @nrgman676 In Jeet Kune Do it is a Hook Kick :) I've studied other martial arts before and yes, the name is usually known as a round house kick, mostly performed with the rear leg. In JKD Bruce Lee called it a Hook Kick because it travels along a similar trajectory as the hook punch but with the leg. In JKD this kick is most often executed with the lead weapon since it is the power side and it is closer to the target. Thank you for sharing your thoughts!

  • @victoriavives ok kool i do enjoy you vids and i do look for more to come keep up the good work

  • @nrgman676 Thank you ^_^

  • Hey V Nice one!! Thumbs up:D Peace

  • @patchbarz Thank you Patch :)))

  • JKD the best martial art!

  • @Partyywizard Yayyy! Most effective and practical ^_^
