@dietcoke1996 It's part of the tandem system. Allows two people to fall at the same rate as one. It's a different deployment system entirely to the solo setup.

Sure you can for the price of 35€. It depends however on which of our pilots flying the porter. Not all of them do that, the porter is located at either DZ Moorsele or DZ Schaffen in Belgium. those are two out of the three drop zones of Skydive Flanders.

That's called "sharking", this is pretty often done with PC-6 porters. Some of our own pilots do the same at our dropzone with our pink porter.

Saw a King Air do that once with freeflyers, now that was impressive.

armchair/backseat hugh? I flew skydivers for 350hrs in a porter before moving to bigger and better things and have a few videos of me flying like this as well. Then things started to break on the plane and i wised up. I realized that the plane is only a mechanical machine and machines break, especially if you make it do things it wasn't designed to do.

All I'm gonna say is fortunately most people see this vid for what it is, some awesome footage that I happened to capture and wanted to share.... I don't really see that there's any point to debating the rights and wrongs of it. It happened, it was cool, nothing even came close to breaking :o) and I trust any/all our pilots with my life, regularly and willingly :o)

Ask "Bart" how much reverse he's pulling, if thats approved in flight, what his oil pressure is doing and what his airspeed is? Then ask yourself if you really want to ride with him in that plane again considering he's beating it up like a stray dog?

The porter has a beta mode for fast decend. Sometimes the configuration of the beta has been done specially for paradrop operation. As strange as it may look, this aircraft is not in reverse mode and will have a speed of not more than 120 kts. Reverse should only be used on the ground, of course. As you can see it`s only succesfull with slow falling jumpers. I saw a video of a porter going vertically in formation with freestyle jumpers head down. That`s crazy and stupid of that pilot!

You can't use beta for descents, you use flat pitch. Beta is reverse mode. Porters are prhibited from flat pitch vertical descents if you read the POH. It creates strange turbulance over the tail section, which causes stress failures. I have some porter time and was informed of this before I my checkout. The previous pilot had started to cause some structural problems as found in the annual inspection. They really cracked down after that on vertical descents.

Well, do you really fully understand what beta is actually? Reverse is a part of the beta. Ever heard of the beta valve, what it does and when it activates? Of course, Reverse itself is not allowed in flight. Anyway, I stop discussing because there is no point. Not many Porter pilots fully understand how it all works. By the way guys, this is not a vertical decend , it`s a steep decend. It`s a little bit visual illusion on the video, but nice.

As a skydiver and videoman i find this is a nice video. But not really for the passenger who pay to immortalize his 1st freefall jump and the cameraman is principaly focus on the pilot skills but not on the passenger reaction and lifetime experience. This is my point of view. Thanks to respect it as i have respect yours !
