Lived in Labrador, and I've spent a bit of time in the northern Inuit towns like Nain, Hopedale, Makkovik, etc. My father spent much, much more time in those places than I did though, he does a lot of court proceedings for those small towns, either as a prosecution or defense lawyer. He has nothing but good things to say about the Inuit. To be honest though, the other tribe (the Innu) I'm not so fond of.

It's not like they were freely wandering around, searching for a place to settle. The reason why the Inuits are living so far up North is that they were forced away by other, more developed tribes. It's also the only reason why Russia is such a huge country - the subarctic territories are only inhabited by weak, backward nations.

I totally agree that the meat industry is a huge contributor to the greenhouse in several ways (like the damaging of rainforest AND methane) and methane are one of the few folds in the model that are to be investigated, but they're minor ones. But yeah, that reason, amongst others is why I don't eat meat at all.

But it makes spelling harder and you get numbers the wrong way round, and letters, and it can make it harder for you to learn things... it effects people in different ways. I have Dyslexia and its not so bad now coz ive managed to over come the worst of it but it still effects me. So when you type you might not spell things right, or u might get letters jumbled up and stuff like that

@Swidhelm Nah, moved there in 1997 just before I started Kindergarten. Lived in Labrador, and I've spent a bit of time in the northern Inuit towns like Nain, Hopedale, Makkovik, etc. My father spent much, much more time in those places than I did though, he does a lot of court proceedings for those small towns, either as a prosecution or defense lawyer. He has nothing but good things to say about the Inuit. To be honest though, the other tribe (the Innu) I'm not so fond of.

It's not like they were freely wandering around, searching for a place to settle. The reason why the Inuits are living so far up North is that they were forced away by other, more developed tribes. It's also the only reason why Russia is such a huge country - the subarctic territories are only inhabited by weak, backward nations.

Its not about what's in the media at all. I study this subject. Sure, I'm an undergraduate but the evidence for our us being the cause is water-tight. It's just as real as us grinding down the rainforests or fishing the seas empty.
The solution however, is a completely different thing. And it's very hard to keep this discussion within 500 chars, but could you elaborate on what you mean with 'paying bankers'?

I'm not making any assumptions. Point is that next to the otherwise perfectly balanced carbon cycle, we're pumping billions of extra tons into it. Next to that we're harming any natural carbon cleaners like forests and the plankton in the ocean which makes the whole deal worse.
We ARE the climate change. And even, IF it was doubtful we are the cause, which it isn't, then are you really prepared to waste the one planet we got left to find out?

I totally agree that the meat industry is a huge contributor to the greenhouse in several ways (like the damaging of rainforest AND methane) and methane are one of the few folds in the model that are to be investigated, but they're minor ones. But yeah, that reason, amongst others is why I don't eat meat at all.
And yes, it are cycles, but few of them were ever as drastic as the one that started after the revolution. And I'm running out of letters so I continue above this post.

There's one example of a peak in carbon that was so high that 95% of the planet diet out after the oceans got too warm and the oceanstreams reversed. The fossils in the Dolomites are testament to this. Honestly, I'd hate to see that happen again.
It won't be the elite that will be taxed, it won't be the poor either, it will be the polluters that are to be taxed. Putting the responsibility back on their plate in the form of a bill. Sparking the incentive to innovate cleaner technologies or pack.
