  • I've just spent £200 on this and it's the most complicated thing ever lol. I want to basically plug it into my laptop, record me playing a tune to a metronome beat, then record a sample over the top of it, then a drum beat ect. I've tried using the editorial software and got nowhere. Are there any free downloadable 8 or 16 track recorders that are easy to use? I'm a dummy when it comes to computers.

  • Yes yes Korg everything about this is great but why does it have to look so ugly?

  • its ugly

  • That's it. I'm going to rob a bank and buy this thing.

  • Can this thing be used to control some vst instruments, and play samples already created on computer?

  • Yeah, and you forgot to mention that u can use only one "keyboard-sample" in pattern... and that's the main limitation that makes this machine not worthy to buy...

  • Can it be used as a normal keyboard ?

  • fuck now i want this.

  • Ron Jeremy

  • help!!!

    the clap sound dissappeared!

how can i restore microsampler to factory settings!!!???

  • Great, dynamic voice over here!

  • would not being able to play the piano hold you back whilst trying to use this sampler? im really interested but i think my lack of piano knowledge will hold me back with the keys?

  • Could I plug in a drum pad controller and use that for the samples on the microsampler?

  • hey, can you record songs on it? like a 16 sequencer?

  • A question: you can sample a maximum of approximately 160 seconds in each bank, right? It means about 4,5 sec per key, right? This means that if I want to sample my old Mellotron (8 sec of "sampled instrument" on each tape/key) on this machine is not possible?? 1970 beats 2011???

  • looks like a washing maschine

  • can you add loops little by little and then take them out one by one? I mean, can you jam, or remix a song live?? i've got a monotron which is cool for individual sounds, but i need something similar to this to play full songs live, can it be done?

  • Is it posible to connect a midi guitar to this to play notes on the keyboard?

  • I need to get some more baggy pants so I can fit this in my back pocket

    JNCO here I come!

  • wow now i will never find myself stuck in that scary situation when i am caught between Electric Lady NY and Abbey Road......:)

  • Does this come with a case if I wanted to take it on the go

  • Look at the Korg now back to me ...

  • Hi, just a couple of questions... what about sampling a piano sound? Would it honestly sound good? Second question: can you sample a sound even through the editor just dragging and dropping the file or the sampling is just via audio? Thanks, I'm gonna buy microsampler this week and these are really important points to me!

  • That voice, is that the OldSpice man? And the MicroSampler is really nice ^^

  • LOOK AGAIN. THE KEYBOARD IS NOW DIAMONDS.

  • @FireTacoProductions OK so explain me this. Connect other keyboard to this Korg, choose from the Korg samples one of the ROM sound like a piano (there is a Fender piano), setup this Korg as a sleeve and try to play this piano using your other external keyboard aspecially note "d"

Now tell me why the hell I'm receiving 2 different notes touching key "d" instead of one note?

It happens only with note d but it makes this piece of junk unusefull

    FYI Global local is OFF

  • @KoziolekMatolek2010 what....? I was commenting about how the voice sounds similar to the old space guy.

  • This piece of junk is totaly screwed up, and I'm going to put this piece of shit right in to the garbbage. Fortunately I just pay $350

That piece of shit can't work with external sequencer, is totaly messed up in editing mode and I don't have a time to play with that bullshit

It looks like NASA just throught out some electronics in to the garbbage , Korg took it, put some cables, plastic and made a sampler.

I'm telling you guys, don't buy this piece of shit, spend more $ for something good

  • @KoziolekMatolek2010 I totaly agree with your opinion. It is made from idiots to idiots by idiots. Completely unusefull in studio or work with other midi devices especially as a sleve. Screwed up as a hell. I already figured out that in the store. Cheap toy for amateurs

  • buy a fucking casio sk5 for a 1/7 of the price nigga

  • iOS this bad boy and korg make some sort of audio input device like irig. A full featured kaoss app, microsampler, anything else you can do. Moog has their input ready filtatron now its korgs turn to give us a sample,no pun intended.

  • Hey, is this the kind of instrument Daft Punk use? Like for electronica and such? If not, please direct me to the right KORG instrument so I can buy one!

  • Hi i have a few questions, i wish to buy this in the future when i got enough money... that i dont right now :-( im sick of computers... anyway, Can you trigger two samples or more at the same time using the keys? like mapping the sample to the key? if so im sold :D

  • @kragle2008 Yes, you can trigger multiple samples (up to 14) at the same time.

  • Very nice model! Only some questions:

    1) What is the memory of a micro-sampler? Can it hold long samples, each for 3 - 4 minutes length? For example, to take the KORG mirco-sampler to the studio and record the full staffs of live drums and bass via line-in on it? Or better to do it with short patterns?

    2) Does it contain all 37 samples at the same time? Is it necessary to use a microsampler with a computer for live performance to use more samples? What are synchronization delays in that case?

  • is this the guy from old spice commercials

  • I find this sampler amazing!

i only have a pair of doubts... Can it be used for reason? i mean, as a controller for reason?

and, can it be used as a vocoder?

Im really thinking on getting it...

    thx

  • @imraver Yes, you can use it as a MIDI controller, and no, it doesn't have a vocoder function. You'll find vocoders in our modeling synthesizers, such as microKORG, microKORG XL, R3, Radias, and Kronos.

  • Is it posible to plug in my guitar and loop and/or sample it?

  • @BigNoseMusic Yes, although we recommend going through some kind of preamp, as the guitar's signal by itself will be very low.

  • @KorgUSAVideos why is that? why would recording in mono be such low quality? I record my guitar into a looper pedal, how is that different? so the same is true for a mono keyboard? I have an mpc and I plug my guitar right in and sample and it works great.

  • If a company promised you windows 7 support, you buy their product based on that, and afterwards they decide to only support windows XP - is it then your fault for not formatting your computer and going back to XP? Obviously the XP-users wouldnt care, because it doesnt affect them, but that doesnt help all the 7-users who are suddenly left without the support they were promised... Exact same thing...

  • And thus ineptitude reaches new hights as the first new driver for more than 10 months, DOESNT resolve the problem that has caused the previous driver to NOT WORK for the past 3 months. It takes a really really brave company to ignore customer support so completely and utterly...

  • @MarctheDarc The drivers definitely do work, I've just used them on both my computers, windows laptop and an OSX desktop.

  • @VonCarnstein And what version is that OSX? Anything newer than 10.6.4 DOESNT work. And hasnt for more than 3 months. They removed the warning on the american website about a month back, but the japanese driver download, still states that 10.6.5 and newer arent supported...

  • @VonCarnstein I suppose i should just format my computer, spend hours reinstalling everything, but keep it at version 10.6.4, thus discarding improvements like 10% higher frame-rate in games, ignoring security updates and so on... All because Korg cant be bothered to do a simple fix on their driver. They can make additions when they wanna sell new gear, aka the "new" 1.1.0 driver for Mac, which adds support of the new nano controller series, but just ignore their current customers...

  • @MarctheDarc Don't rant at me because you can't get the software to work, I don't give a fuck. It works for me and everyone I know. I've heard people have it working on 10.6.4 go email customer support instead of whining on youtube because at this point your not concerned with the software your just concerned with slandering Korg.

  • @VonCarnstein Funny 1 or 2 pages back, you said yours didnt work... And i'm not rantingat you, but you cant just say yours work and assume mine will. I was just saying that 10.6.4 work, but that became the previous version over 3 months ago... I tried mailing customer support, and was told they didnt care because i wasnt an american - i should contact the importer, which then told me they werent liable for Korgs lack of support... People deserve to know that Korg make false advertisements...

  • @MarctheDarc Yeah turns out I didn't have it set up right at the time of my first post. And I SERIOUSLY DOUBT Korg said they didn't care because you weren't an american, they aren't even an american company... If thats such a problem contact Korg UK or one of the other branches. Any time the software would be saving you you are throwing away on youtube comments. Its not like its that hard to transfer the audio data via line input instead if USB...

  • @VonCarnstein They didnt use the term "dont care" indeed not. But rather said that they couldnt deal with my case because i wasnt under their area, and i should contact my regional importer. But that's about the same thing as saying they dont care, because some random importer/supplier doesnt do driver-development - that's the responsibility of the company that made the gear.

And the line in doesnt let me organise the samples and back them up in their edited form, also i'd have to rewire ALL.

  • Impressive guys. It takes you 3 full months of not-working drivers to come up with an .exe for Mac. It really underlines your immense care for customer support...

  • is it the old spice guy voicing this? sounds very similar

  • Can we soon get a working USB-driver? It's 10 months old. It havent worked for almost 3 months, and you've known there is a problem even longer. I really dont think it's an unreasonable demand.

This is a great tool for sampling, but moving samples to and from the computer is part of the expected functionality when buying it. And this not working for this long is what i call a grosse mistreatment of your customers and moreover a breach of the sales-agreement as it doesnt deliver what's promised.

  • Hey, does anyone know if I can connect this to a Yamaha M08 and sample patterns etc, directly from the Yamaha? Does it play well with others? I'm guessing I could just play the Yamaha and sample the actual audio through the mike but would rather do it through a line in. Also, do the "velocity" keys allow for control of the volume of an individual sample? Thanks for any help!

  • I was wondering.. Is there any way to have an effect on just one or several keys rather than across the whole bank? (without resampling) say hypothetically I want a delay on a kick sound and chorus on the snare but want to be able to change the parameters when I please

  • @DesperateJournalist Nope, only 1 effect active at a time. You cant mix and match without resampling which "locks the parameter" used at the time of the resample (so to speak) - you can ofc make multiple resamples with varied effects-parameters. Not perfect but it'll help at times...

  • @MarctheDarc cheers for the reply :) it would be good if it did have that feature and you could map it using the editor librarian, there are a few features I'd like on the microsampler Ive got but the benefits of the sampler far outweigh the few observations I have

  • @DesperateJournalist Their effects-controls and integration isnt the best seen in a sampler (think the effect-controls are better in the Roland SP-404SX). But at this price it's overall the best sampler, and the onboard controls for editing and resampling are really good. If they would just update their damn driver so the editor works with Mac OSX again, i would be happy... I'm into performing my stuff live, without computer attached, so a good sampler is a must. This has dented my preperations.

  • @MarctheDarc hmm thats weird... I have OS X and the editor works perfectly fine :/ yeah I prefer playing without a computer as well. It would be great if Korg had an updated version of the micro, it could really do with some - + buttons, whirling knobs can be a bit annoying spesh if your needing to quickly switch a patch live.

  • @DesperateJournalist Have you updated your OSX? Because what i've gathered from people and Korgs own website (message since removed), their USB-drivers doesnt work for anything if OSX is updated past 10.6.4 - which they've known for more than 3 months now, without doing anything about it... I didnt stop to think that a simple USB-driver would fail from updating. I've never had problems with previous OSX-updates, despite having several pieces of gear hooked up...

  • @MarctheDarc Im not sure, not on the Mac atm but will check for you once i get back. Thats really bad, it would be good if we set up some sort of petition to sort this out.

  • @DesperateJournalist it'll be sorted in a few months when their new NAMM-launch-products start hitting the streets. All their products run off the same USB-driver, and they cant have stuff not working at launch - stuff like the Kronos wont sell if it doesnt work - so it'll get a fix to sell their new line, and when sales have peaked, they'll cut support again. Just too bad that i'll been without editor for 4-5 months atleast at that point. And dont mistake the fix for them caring, cus' they dont

  • The librarian software is an aboslute nightmare, korg post a video of how to effectively use it please.... Even when it says its transmitted none of the samples tranfer...

  • @VonCarnstein That because they havent updated it - EVER. And now it doesnt work - which they've known for the past 2-3 months, and done nothing about...

How about it Korg, are you gonna update you software any time soon? Would be nice if some of the features we've paid for actually worked...

  • @MarctheDarc Wow, wish I had known that before I bought it... I was hoping to easily transfer samples from my DAW, guess thats not happening.

  • @VonCarnstein Well, right now it's only the Mac version that doesnt work, but it's only a question of time before the lack of updates makes the windows version useless too... But i'm guessing there's already a truckload of annoyed musicians - such carelessness will simply not due once people have payed for the product. (Same reason why pro's flee from microsuck-products too). And make no mistake, tomorrow my local dealer will be asked a few questions about Korg's lack of reliability.

  • @MarctheDarc I;ve got the windows version and it doesn't work for shit, and I've spent a good number of hours working with it.

  • @VonCarnstein Ok, let me rephrase then - it's only the Mac version they currently ADMIT to not working. I have no personal knowledge of the windows version working or not, though i'm not in the least surpriced by it. But this is certainly further annoying as i was starting to consider bringing my sampler and my samples to a friend that is running windows as a temporary work around... Guess i'll have to rewire my setup so i can do an old-fashion recording into the sampler - most bothersome...

  • HI, I have bought this machine. I just wonder - Can I restore the sounds that came with the microsampler when i got it? thanx!

  • @MadofaA Congratulations! To get to the built-in sounds, hold down the EDIT button and press the key labeled "BANK CHANGE." Now, turn the VALUE dial to scroll to the "R" bank, and press ENTER twice.

  • shoud i get this or the miniak?

  • Lol I meant the korg r3 synthesizer

  • Lol I meant the both r3

  • would you recommend this or the microsampler for making creative and original old\new school hip hop beats and trance\techno music?

  • @JussBL4ZE Given the choice between a microSAMPLER and a microSAMPLER, we'd definitely choose the microSAMPLER. :)

If you meant the microKORG XL, it's really a combination of the two. The microSAMPLER will give you more flexibility for creating rhythms and patterns, while the microKORG XL is great for analog-style basslines, synth sounds, and vocoding.

  • So... I'm new to sampling and the like. I have some mellotron samples in mp3 format. How can I put them onto a keyboard?

  • The video is so-so because it does not show realistically what you are doing, you have music on top what make you wonder that all those features are really that user friendly.

  • HEY "U SEE THAT BIG DIAL?" ......."Its ur friend". hahahahahaha! epic what a cocky little ad. But then again this seriously gives the impression of an honest product..+it looks sick. much sympathy

  • damn no pitch bend wheel :(

  • I like the use of the keys along with the edit button for editing, ala Alesis Micron, instead of the MicroKorg's 2 select knobs + matrix. Awesome design decision on Korg's part. I don't own a hardware sampler, but I'd definitely give this a look if (most likely when) I'm looking for one. This looks awesome!

  • would this be good for djs

  • does this thing transmit USB audio?

  • @MrDirtdevil91 It doesn't stream audio in the way that an audio interface would, but it does allow you to transfer sample data to and from the microSAMPLER via its software editor.

  • When I try to record some sounds from my microkorg Xl to microsampler it was impossible. Recorded sounds was different after record than sound in microkorg.

    Maybe you know why ?

Recorded sounds was worse, and have different parameters ( decay, relase )

  • I HATE it when I receive a gift from my own mind in the form of a perfect beat, and I know I have to record it before it disappears forever and I'm nowhere NEAR a studio. Problem solved lol

  • 3:53 If the look on Richards face is any indication, I think he might have the best job in the world!

  • aggghhhhhh. thinking about selling my sp-404 and my keyboard for this baby....... wooow

  • the microsampler looks good but this advert makes me not want to buy one lol

  • i am more excited about this little piece of kit than i have been in quite some time. i think korg really listened to their users and have released quite a find piece of hardware at an incredible affordable price.

  • A natural home grown hand clap?

    1:53

  • Take a look at my videos of this beast in use.

I'll be posting more MS-1 videos soon.

  • I'll be posting more MS-1 videos soon.

  • how about not playing BGM when doing an audio demonstration

  • Kudos to korg for resonding to our comments. Companies need to follow their example and not be afraid to put themselves out there and get their hands dirty. This is a cool product, I have an ms2000, and have thought about getting a mini kaoss pad; I'll have to look into this too. I still want an mpc1000 though, but we will see.

  • I still really like this keyboard, but it's a pity there's no SD slot.

  • Im pretty sure its that Old Spice guy narrating this clip.

  • Plastic body and keyboard/knobs feels flimsy or could easily break(?)

  • gay.

  • lol he blinks cuz of his own clap

  • its got blinking lights ! AWESOME !

  • I totally think this is really cool. But im afraid once I get it I will be totally lost. It took me long enough just to figure out and get all the stuff down for the microkorg. I still think I will save up to get this. It's just too cool to pass up.

  • I heard one of the effects on this thing is Ring Modulation. Is it possible for me to plug in a bass guitar and sample myself playing it, than alter it with the ring mod?

  • @liveweyer Yes, definitely! You can record with the effect enabled, or sample the bass sound dry and then add the effect afterwards.

  • why dont they make some of these things in a full size keyboard... theres a lot of us that miss the old emulators and emax machines...

  • A full size keyboard increases the cost of production and hence an increased price to us consumers :) I'm sure this thing has a midi output/input to hook up a larger keyboard to control it

  • how about memory how much and is it expandable? cause this samples are big probably to have good sound quality?! So is it via memory sticks usb dongles or only inside keyboard itself and how big?

  • @jomarcavalcanti and is it possible to transpose the keys I mean each key not the entire octave

  • @jomarcavalcanti - All the samples are stored in the microSAMPLER's internal memory. You get 36 samples x 8 banks, over with 21 minutes of sampling time at beyond CD quality. You'll get much more time at lower resolution settings.

Also, yes, you can alter the pitch of your samples individually.

  • @jomarcavalcanti The microSAMPLER doesn't use external storage, because it can store samples in its own non-volatile memory (save your bank, and it'll be there the next time you turn it on). This internal memory is not expandable, but you can store over 21 minutes at just over CD quality (16 bit, 48kHz). If you lower the resolution/bit depth, you can increase this sampling time dramatically.

  • What a cool guy. He even can imitate beatboxing! By the way, I didn't hear one usable beat in the whole video.

  • would any recomend me a relatively cheap sampler for a beginner influenced by Depeche Mode/Recoil?

  • @MrXMGS

    Google.... "Free software sampler."

Sorry I don't know anything free.. I use EXS24 & my Triton Extreme...

And how do you define "relatively cheap?" If $139 is in your budget, you could always go with a Tascam DR-07 field recorder. That's not technically a "sampler," but it's an option.

  • I have tried to install Linux Sampler (I use Ubuntu) but it didn't worked, so I will try Ubuntu Studio,

I see, I would like something to play what I record, I guess that it will cost 250 or over?

  • this looks amazing and its obviously going to look good on this because its a korg vid, however realisticly you need to be able to beatbox, have a ipod and be amazing at keyboard. so meh.

  • Hardware is much better than all the software stuff

  • Looks snazy BUT it's NO USE!

All this pre-sampled stuff it offers is for MORONS. Creative musicians

    LOOK ELSEWHERE.

  • You can upload anything you want to it, used with soft synthesizers, or a good program this machine is a beast.

  • sequencing is gay, it takes the fun away of playing keys to a beat like hitting the table with your palms, and the way these fools present the products capabilites suck. just wait till some really smart kid figures something out and makes this "toy" alot better then it sounds, thats how the mpc started. it was never meant to be a hip hop tool now its the starndard

  • it's good for live sampling- no mod wheel but it looks like it does the job. not claiming it's the next coming of christ. can't it be just "good" ? instead of a "shitty" "fail" "toy".

really? fail? watch the closing monologue of ratatouille and then finger yourself with a gun.

    video's a bit cheesy

  • If I have an idea for a beat, I just use my macbook pro.

I don't need to carry a toy with me everywhere.

Folks, just get a laptop of any kind and some decent sequencing software...! This defies logic to me.

  • hahahaha, marshottentot has it right, i immediately thoguht absolut vodka. or bouger. hahaha

  • MAJOR FAIL !!!!!

For the life of me I cant figure out why these companies bring out these sample boxes and only give us 16 voices of Polyphony !! RIDICULOUS !! Thats 8 stereo keys limit you can press at the same time. I mean we are in an age where people can stream their own live video show from their ipod to the web and yet we continuously get this weak ass voice count..LOL Roland is guilty also with their SP series. Give us ATLEAST 32 voices.

  • With what i just typed above..let me be fair and say when i played with the microsampler this morning at GC I LOVED it !!! I was sampling and resampling and sequencing like crazy..then that polyphony shit started... killed my whole groove and fun. Fail !

  • POS, just a crappy mpc in the form of a mpc, just a 500 everyone

  • Man, this feels like a Tim & Eric skit.

  • Nice product, but the Promo Ad is toe-curling. Mr Voice-Over man is trying too hard to be cool. He sound's like he should be doing a beer commercial.

  • im not bein funny but whats wrong with recording into a mic into your daw n just chopin up your recorded audio

  • Who cares if you sample mp3s? It's about being creative. I personally enjoy the compression artifacts on hi hats with mp3 compression.

  • This is a really well compiled instructional vid.

  • It's so beautiful...

  • what is the longest amount of time one sample can be on this keyboard?

  • some other video said like 3 minutes or 2 minutes or something

    so, this.. or mpc?

  • When In Doubt, KORG.

  • With all the software samplers and better hardware samplers out there, Korg probably have done better. Plus that thing is UGLY. Looks like a crappy toy or something.

  • Korg fail.

  • This is great for creating custom drum kits / keyboard sounds from outside sources and creating loops with them, but it has very limited keyboard presets. I think you'd be better off buying a MicroKorg / MirKorgXL and using a Kaossilator / Kaoss Pad for the beats. An Elektribe is always good too. The problem with buying all that is that it's expensive though. I think they need to improve some stuff on this but it's still a great idea!

  • which way is this guy looking? is he Turtle's cousin???

  • The ugly cousin :P

  • 3:16 Nice ancient ipod

  • does this have a vocoder like the Microkorg XL? I'm guessing no.....

  • It says it has a voice modulator, which im not 100% sure about but i think it's the same idea.

  • does not have a pitch bender.....such a turnoff

  • And when my beat hits the charts, I won't forget how it got there.

  • This is actually a Fisher Price knock-off. Check out the toy molding.

  • i´m a smoker. cleaning that thing must be hell.

  • dont smoke in the studio mang!

  • wow...no one is gonna buy this...i see a price reduction for this unit within 2 months.

    ableton all the way

  • Another electribe with SD storage please!

    not this....toy

  • so true,

would love to see an electribe (a new version) with SD storage,or CF.

The arpeggiator on those things is class.

  • $500? would rather buy ableton. Honestly i dont see this hypeware integrating well into a studio at all. It just looks like another crappy electronic toy for more hiphop "BEAT" makers. Korg, why not release the next gen of Electribe instead of this nonsense?

  • So harsh?... this looks like a great thing for live performance, jamming etc! I could see dumping the loops you capture in a jam into Ableton Live later by USB?

How about this AND another generation of Electribes? That's what I want. ;-)>

Or the ULTIMATE electribe, with full synth and sample features in one? (and definitely battery power!)

  • true, but i have heard that Roland and Korg are moving away from "grooveboxes" ,,,,but how come this is being released? id say its fun to use,but im not serious about this at all.

  • The new BVLLSH1T from Korg

  • It's like a new Casio SK keyboard! Except for it being a Korg.

  • and CASIO blows

  • I'm just saying it's the exact same formula, but more advanced. Has nothing to do with casio blowing. Which they kind of do, but they have made some nice machines in the past.

  • Looks pretty sweet. I may have to get one.

Where's a good place to learn more about midi recording basics? I've always composed the old fashioned way & i'm just getting into the more hi tech stuff..

  • what would yo like to know?

  • Um.. Where to start? I know what midi does but that's abt it. Maybe you could help me set up my microkorg for midi apps?

  • 4:41 "since we're remixing"?!??!?! what the fuck?!?!?! who the fuck is this even being marketed to who doesn't know what hte fuck chopping a drumbreak means!? are theyt trying to market to 12 year olds who wanna be like daft punk or something?!

  • Perhaps they're trying to market to people who don't think they know everything. Just a thought.

  • It's being marketed to people who will sample from their 128kbps mp3s using the iPod dock. That's right, music is going to get even shittier sounding.

Thing seems to have crawled out of the womb of a plastic Zoom pedal and a Casio CTK. Looks cheap. And the mini keys and recessed Chinese microwave dials. WTF were they thinking? Fire that industrial designer pronto. At -300 bucks maybe. At 500 it should have the R3 chassis and keys. $500 is too much for a Fisher Price My-First-Sampler.

  • hey hey they can also sample at 352kbps so that's not so bad

but it's $500?? holy crap that is WAY too much

    that's what i payed for my r3

  • 352? holy shit.are you serious?

Im so used to 44.1,bring on the 352!

  • 44.1 hz and 352 kbps are too different things

but if you want you can go up to 192 hz

  • I think you mean kHz, not hz.

  • whoops yeah sorry
