hey. i'm using a pre-amp/tube overdrive pedal; tube amplification generally gives a fatter sound than solid state. i'm actually running it through a solid state amp (the fender champion 30 dsp; discontinued as far as i know), but i keep the natural gain really low and boost the signal with a dod 308. my eq settings are bass: 8, mid: 5, treble: 6.5

listening to music by genre is stupid. genres are horrible paraphrases of an artist's identity and really, primarily for those less musically inclined who have to rely on arbitrary commercially decided terms rather than their own sense to navigate.

at the end of the day, what "genre" an artist falls into doesn't deepen your understanding of their music

For all those knockin this vid, which seems to be turnin into a trend, you obviously aren't experiencing the raw energy and improvisation here. When I hear it, I can't help but feel energised, and yes it is tastefully played, one of by fave bits is from 0.44 to 0.50, in which the notes just fit there perfectly - it's not out of key. Something doesn't have to be slow to have feel. Other emotions such as fury and vigour can be found here.

It's weird, "emotion" in a blues player's dictionary is so one-dimensionally defined. It's weird because this so-called emotion is what advocates pride the entirety of the genre's worth on.

There are millions upon millions of different emotions- most of which CAN'T be expressed with elementary whole notes and rests. Demonknight, keep in mind that in a context such as raw fury and battle, slow phrases are JUST as (if not more) out of place as.. Yngwie is in the blues? ;)

yeah sorry but that wasn't musical in the slightest. I agree with the comment that alot of it sounded off key. The improvising was pretty awful sorry, there's more to it than just running arpeggios and scales up and down at insane speeds. A couple of notes played with good feel and phrasing would have sounded better than the whole thing. But then again I hate shredding and players like Yngwie. You've got awesome technique though

Ascending scalar runs are just as tasteful as a syncopated jazz lick; it's the context (i.e. chords and style) that makes a melody tasteful. The former sounds fierce at 1:00.
