On the other hand, govt social programs and entitlements, not to mention the 7 trillion $'s that have been spent on the "War on Poverty" ie; govt housing projects, welfare, etc since 1964 comprises nearly 30% of the GDP. I never took the "New Math" in school, but I think 30% is more than 6%. Take another look.

Before WWII, America grew very quickly. Since WWII and the Military Industrial Complex, we have created an industry that leeches off of our tax dollars. As I said, the "Great Depression would have been just another short recession if FDR had left it alone and stopped trying to "Fix" it. Politicians are historically bad at business, that is why they leave business for politics, they can't make it in the business world so they go to politics to get rich through payoffs and kickbacks. We already have the lowest social benefits of any country in the developed world, and the American worker is the most overworked.
