I think I will see the American version once it is online or on tv. I am happy that they didn't cast Kristen Stewart as Lisbeth (which was a total possibility). The film shouldn't be redone- all the actors & actresses did a fantastic job. She actually got all the piercings done for the role. Brilliant.

I thought the first was slow,butt i still enjoyed the movie very much, watched the second last night and i was blown away by the pace and direction considering i never knew about the books.i will be reading them hopefully before the third movie comes out.

@HenningBrazer The Swedish version and especially the acting by Noomi Rapace is really very, very good. But I wouldn´t disqualify in advance David Fincher´s take at it. they are shooting it right now in Sweden. I saw his choice for LIsbeth - Rooney Mara and she makes a very professional and mature impression as an actress. I´m looking forward to seeing the whole movie. It can be a positive surprise

Loved the series. Stieg Larsson was a genius. And the movie series is just as true to it. Lisbeth is a bamf. :P And Blomkvist, is a awesome guy. Totally gonna snag this series on DVD. It didn't disappoint me in the least.

Just say the first over the weekend and am glad Hollywood did not get thier hands on it. I enjoyed the Swedish version with the subtitles and was pleased with the movie following the book. I am anxious to see the next two, but have heard they are not up to the first. That always seems to be the case. Guess I will have to be patient since it took so long for the first to hit America.

the first movie had a big budget meant for a cinema movie & it was really good

this 2 one is much worse, leaves out virtually the whole 1st half of the book which makes the film somewhat chaotic

then the 3rd is againa very good

2 &3 were not meant to be shown in movie theaters at all but direct on TV

after the unprecedented success of 1 they released them for cinemas anyway

@kajro57 But they did do the end of the second film very well. I agree, though, it is very de-fanged. By the time you're 30 min into the film, you're where you would be after reading the book for 4 hours! Honestly, each book could have been two movies and I'd be fine with that.

@almccrindle Unfortunately they are making an English version of the Girl with the dragon tattoo where they are getting a whole bunch of british actors to play all the Swedish characters because as you know, since it's Europe they have to have some kind of accent. . . So even though the American director and actors do have some blame in recreating the awesomeness which is this trilogy,don't you think some blame should go to the Sweddish producers whom obviously sold the rights to America?
